Hippos are awesome man, they are like the king of the rivers and such. They are highly aggressive, especially when you are in their territory. They can run faster then the fastest human on Earth

The one about not understanding pain? Look on her back and it'll most likely answer that question. She was, by my guess, abused at some point in her life which caused her to be the way she currently is.

Why are there SOOO many romanizations for names. Gorm is just awful, I dunno who came up with that, the vowel sound changes completely, it's supposed to be a hard o, I put that in the notes in V29. Kanchome's name is spelled three different ways, Kanchome, Kyanchome and Canchome. Really all three are fine. Usually it would be "Canchome" because the "kya" sound when romanizing is always for foreign words that begin with c. But the others look cooler so they're more frequently used.
I don't know how you could see it as forced with Kanchome's power thing, it made sense to me, with how he always wanted power so then he didn't know how to control it when he got it.
And yeah, if you want an idea how Goomu's battle with Clear would go it'd be something like them attacking and all their attacks being annihilated in an instant, then him being cut in half because he couldn't defend. If the anime had continued it would maybe have had that as a filler scene. But still probably would've cut it out before the end for the dramatic part with Gash and Kiyomaro.
We're working on the last two volumes now… Everything's translated, almost all cleaned so look forward to it soon. Then Raiku's new mangas are coming out in a week or so, too.
By the way guys, if anyone's reading these on Onemanga, you're better off just downloading it from our site, the resolution and detail's like several times better... As are all mangas there. Though that picture up there is just compressed due to Photobucket's restrictions.

If it remained popular and notable enough in the long run, perhaps. But at this point, where we're too far removed from the end of the anime, Raiku moving on after his nightmare scenario with Sunday, and the anime scene just looking nothing like it did with Gash in it's heyday, I say the answer is probably no for the moment.
Yeah, it doesn't seem like it'd continue since it's been over for so long and Raiku's dissociated with Shogakukan now. Unless his next series is a huge enough hit to like rejuvenate the old series or something, I doubt it.
I stopped watching the anime at the begging of the arc when they are in this univers between both worlds. so im wondering if it's worth reding the manga and if it as funny as th anime
That arc in the anime is a 9 episode filler arc. The really good arc that ends the anime is after that.
And yeah the manga's worth reading. If you wanted to start it you could start at V18.
I have been thinking starting reading the manga from the beginning. Even through I did the CN airing through to the point where they stop at (right in the middle of the Zofis arc).
But from what I have seen from the anime, I love this series to death, espically for the duo of Megumi and Tio.

I always figured Mir was basically captured then beaten/abused, maybe over a period of time, by those mobster looking people we see beaten up when we were shown Goomu carrying her away in one of the chapter covers.
I'm assuming that's when they first met too since similar things were shown with others partners as well.

Just read 316 which was pretty darn awesome. Bringing out the gold book was probably the biggest surprise in the series. Especially with Danny of all demons being the first one.

The gold book sequence is surreal but just feels like the ultimate culmination of everything in this series. My only complaint is that everyone essentially had a "Shin" spell except Danny…but it's Danny, so it makes sense.

Well they always had access to the spell, but the books limited what spells they could use. Now that they were burnt the limiters are off. Ether that or it because they using spells though zatch's shin level book.
Well considering how much damage that weak spell healed I don't think he has anything to feel bad about.

It's not clear really why they have the Shin spells even in the translation. They never really say how it is, except that somehow they were unlocked while watching Gash fight for them, maybe.

That's probably the Sunday magazine version. My guess is when Kewl gets the final chapter out, he'll put up the Vol. 33 version.
That's a really old scanlation somebody found somewhere of an old incorrect translation I had done of the last chapter when it came out at the end of 2007 (the location of that group base in the credits no longer exists). Just ignore, it we'll come out with the real last chapter and the volume with the extras today or tomorrow… I just gotta finish a couple things.
And yeah, there were several pages added in the volume version besides the quality being higher.

Didn't mean to get your hopes up, sorry about that. As far as the Beelzebub-Zatch Bell comparison…well, you have to understand that I have only read about 15 chapters of Zatch Bell but I think a vague synopsis of the general plot can go something like this.
~A high schooler, whom is as oddball as he is infamous, is thrust into a wild scenario where he must take part in the raising of a demon child who wields powers over lightning and has the potential to be a king.~
Again, this is a simplified synopsis but I would work well for both Beelz and ZB. Remember, I am very early in my ZB reading - I am sure that as I continue the differances between it and Beelz will become more clear.
Also, I think Kiyomaro and Oga resemble each other a tad (physically I mean. They are extermely differant personalities.)

Having never read Beezle I can't say how similar that they are. But in Gash, the battles are way more strategical and Kiyomaro is actually less of a punk and more a really strategic lead who just seems to be stuck with a bunch of weirdoes for allies.

Of course I forgot the important "the weirdoes make the series". It's not a series that really relies on the typical bishonen trope…
! Besides, one of the biggest bishonen in the series is essentially the final bad created to essentially act as a final test by the wills of the Mamono world.

Makoto Raiku (am I spelling that right?) sued Shogakukan because he lost five colored pieces from "Gash Bell", and he won. Now he's partnered with Kodansha; in fact, a while back a "Gash Bell" side-story was published in a Kodansha magazine: Bessatsu Shonen Magazine.
Kodansha Comics is publishing Makoto's latest series, "Animal Land", in America later this year. So I guess if you want to buy the rest of "Zatch Bell" that VIZ didn't put out, contact Kodansha Comics. But before that they'd probably publish the series from the beginning in omnibuses.

Must say that the Faudo arc was so heart wrenching/amazing! I mean…So many characters dieing off.....
Momon's battle against the devil guy and snake guy left me in tears.The way Sister Elle tells him "I'm so proud of you,you became so brave,and you didn't learn a single spell that hurt others" wholes he's fading away.That was too intense ...then I think thevarc went down hill.At first read,Gash vs Zeon was horrible.Lemme explain:
After reading how a loser like Momon became a certified badass,gash and Kiyomaru just waltz right in with their brand new spells they got because Gash had a hissy fit an 'unlocked' his dads powers.And that allowed him to fight evenly with Zeon.This is the biggest deux machine.No wonder Zeon wanted to kill Gash so badly lol.And it got worse,when Zeon gave Gash his power,so now Gash suddenly has the power of the Demon King,and is still bellow the Dragon guy....(who was completely foddered by Clear.The dragon was sooooo cool!!!!I wanted to see more of him! Raiku shoulda introduced him earlier!)Just that Zeon and Brago worked hard for their level of power.and Gash has his cause he has magical Baou powers.
But it's all good.I liked the fight,just was confused at first on how Gash became so fucking strong.At first,I thought that somehow coming back from the dead,and getting answer-talker powers,that somehow made Kiyomaru 'enlightened' and made his heart energy super strong...or something...
And speaking of answer talker.There are two characters who I'm 99.9999999999999999% sure has this power,too: sunbeam and Professor Riddles.They both show answer-talker like abilities,and have those crazy looking eyes.

I'm gonna get around to subbing the 2nd movie and the 2nd OVA (which is basically just a filler episode) sometime soon. I've put them off for about 2 years now because they're kind of one-off projects so other stuff has been higher priority.

Well VIZ had to cancel the series because shuiesha no longer owned the rights to it after that lawsuit Makoto Raiku settled on them and since VIZ gets practically all of their titles from shuiesha than that would mean that they no longer have the rights to zatch bell. Hell if you try looking up zatch bell on the website you won't even find it. and the series was a good 5 volumes away from being completed.

Since this is the default Raiku Makoto thread. Do you guys know know that kewl's group has continued their work on Animal Land? You can download it here, read it there or wherever.
Hopefully this project does get going and we will see this and this and this glory in English someday. Bessatsu Shonen Magazine sure let Raiku do what he pleases - and it turned out for the best. At this point Animal Land looks like an incredible Shonen comic book which knows when it is appropriate to be dark and tragic.
