@Silver:
Then again, we used to like the channels alot more when they made shows targeted to us. They don't make TV shows targeted to us anymore, the its the younger children they are aiming at.
I thought that, but when I was a preteen, Nick didnt seem to target me much. They had a show called Fifteen and Welcome freshmen… ...Wasnt Clarissa in high school too? Hey Dude, Camp Anawana... ...all the kids were too old, and I couldnt related to them. The kids on all those game shows seemed to be of middle school age. Before nicktoons, it was like the network for kids by kids wasnt really targeting kids.
But when my brother was my age, it seemed everything was targeted to him. Invader ZIM was a show that did target me finally, but at that time, Nick no longer cared about the 13+ audience.
And there are shows out there that target large age groups. Animaniacs and pinky and the brain are like simpsons in that they have comedy that children can appreciate and other stuff adults can appreciate. Want a modern disney channel reference? How about Kim possible? If you havent watched it, try just one episode. I didnt care to watch it until I caught my husband watching it. It actually isnt that bad. And if nothing else is on, I watch it.
CN seemed to have most of my attention during the late 90s, only because it seemed that all new programming everywhere stunk. Thats why I was surprised that Invader Zim was so good because Fairly Odd Parents which premiered during the same time was awful, yet was more of a success. CN started to dumb down when it got its own original programing too, like Dexter and Power Puff girls. My brother liked that crap... ...but he was 6! At 6, I was watching Nick Jr!
Adult Swims the same way. It seems almost that everything William street makes is crap... ...so does that mean theyre not targeting a 25 year old since I dont like it? Its quite possible that they are, and its really actually that bad... ...only other thing I can think of is that your average 25 year old is a complete moron... ..which also may be true.
@Lobster:
After Nick screwed Jhonen over, the DVD Box Sets got released by an Anime company. (Anime World)
So all of the DVDs have the Anime Logo on them.
So was that a stocking error? Cuz FUNi puts out Degrassi, and I cant imagine that being confused with anime.
Well, actually most of the second season was animated by Gonzo in Japan so.. muhm?
Mcgruder even went there to oversee it.
I didnt know that. Who did the first season? I thought Gonzo had an office in LA… ...or do they just take care of american licensing?
And then I here dummies saying that "Bobobo" isn't an anime because it's not "serious enough".
Psssssssht :p
Uh oh… ...so Shin Chan ISNT anime!
@Sandai:
For me I don't mind either pronunciation or you can just take the easy way out and call it a Japanese comic book or as we Americans refer to it as Graphic novels.
Well you may not, but Ive heard it pronounced Mayn-ga as much as its pronounced "Ill-a-noise" But yet even though they both are pronounced that way the most, depending on who I talk to I am HORRIBLY WRONG!
Im just afraid that it wont be a simple "ee-ther/aye-ther" but another "ill-annoy" all over again.
CN was always better than Disney or Nick better than Nick because Cartoons were on 24 hours and 7 days a week, better than Disney for a number of reasons I can't really go into now.
lol… .."were" ...kinda like TOON Disney and NickTOONs "were."
I remember when Nick became TV land after 7pm ...cartoons after 7? now thats something special!
Well back in the old days you had places for stuff like that with Kids WB,Fox Kids,Cartoon Network,& Nickelodeon The last two if you had cable of course.
Thats actually how 4 kids got One Piece. Since they had that Fox Box, 4 kids could guarantee that One Piece would get air time, where as Funimation couldn't promise that because at the time, they did not have their own channel or block.
