Monday's updates are Sega titles.
Fantasy Zone - Master System (500 Points)
Mega Turrican - Genesis (800 Points)Seriously, why are the two MS games we have 500 and not 400 points? Both titles were released in the US. o_O

Hey, I dunno if this was mentioned here already but Nintendo Power is running this thing where next issue they'll publish the top 5 most requested titles for Virtual Console. Only games on systems already on the Virtual Console will count and it won't actually determine what gets uploaded on the Virtual Console next. I don't know if they're still counting poll votes so here's the address you send to if you missed it:
Here were my choices in most-wanted order:
1. Earthbound
2. Super Mario RPG
3. Kirby Super Star
4. Dragon Quest V
5. Mother/Earthbound ZeroIt was somewhat hard for me to choose and in most-wanted order because there are so many classic games I want to play that I can't possibly remember all of them off the top of my head. Personally I'd try to choose games I never got the chance to play when they first came out, like I did with my above picks. "Dragon Quest V" and "Mother" I never got the chance to play anyway since they never came out in America. Also with the Wii Zapper out I'd like to see some light gun games like "Duck Hunt" and "Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge", and at this point I think Nintendo has no excuse to not release the original "Fire Emblem" and "Wars" games on the Import category.

2CJFpvkYYk8Super Turrican:
zTQUoJ1lAOAThey're both different games developed for the specific consoles they're on, but still part of the Turrican series.
And Fantasy Zone is basically a prehistoric side-scrolling shooter by Sega:

Haha, the release of Fantasy Zone on VC reminded me of some old-school Muppet Babies episode that parodied a whole bunch of classic video games:

While we already knew it was coming, the provided some pictures of the damn thing. It's been announced forever, but it's nice to see it's now out.
Still waiting for PlayAsia to start up pre-orders.

Never heard of Famistu magazine but if this rumor is true…ugh,Not likely. Regi himself mentioned the big thing to be unveiled at E3 by Nintendo for the holiday season would be a game that they've opted not to reveal any hints about.
Famitsu's a Japanese magazine that has no ties with any game companies, so they're on the same page as EGM, GamePro, and so forth.
Oh, btw. We're getting River City Ransom next week on the Virtual Console. Dunno about the other game(s). The following weeks, we'll be getting Double Dragon and then Renegade.

Sorry to go off-topic, but I have a dilemma. The Wiimote drains the batteries WAY too fast. And I can't use a battery charger because all the batteries I've used (to replace the ones that came with the Wiimote) have a caution against recharging them.
Perhaps I should opt for a Wiimote Charger?
EDIT: I'm on my third set of batteries, by the way. Got the Wii at the end of last month, I believe. The first time I changed batteries was over a week ago. I had to change them again less than a week after.
-
@Yuara:

You should.
I have one of those, and they're very good. Go for it. -
Yuara, I agree that you should. They're relatively cheap considering how useful they are, and the one I use charges it quickly and the battery doesn't really drain too fast.
-
Yeah, it annoys me to no end that the Wii remote drains battery life EVEN WHEN OFF AND IDLE. What I normally do is just take one battery out when I'm done using it.
Until Nintendo makes a rechargable battery pack, I'm staying away from third party ones. Especially Nyko's god awful crap.

Yeah, I got the Nyko one because everyone was saying how good it was and it died after 2 weeks…ON BOTH CONTROLLERS.
-
I just went ahead with the rechargeable battery route. Seems more efficient and versatile, in case I need to use anything else that noshes on AAs.
-
I still may have to go with the wiimote charger route, since all the not-with-Wiimote batteries I've used so far are afraid of battery chargers. I think there are others besides the Nyko one, though.

If Wal-Mart's still carry them, there's a Wii stand/Wiimote charge stand set made by Tosa.
It's about the same price as the Nyko ones, if I'm not mistaken.

New VC games for this week:
River City Ransom – NES (500 pts.)
Phantasy Star III: Generations of Doom --- Master Syst. (800 pts.)never played River city before, so no opinions for this one
but Phantasy Star again? didnt we get II or IV months ago?anyways…for some reason BOF II has this blur every time I move on the map or town. was this in the SNES cart or did something happen during transferring to the wii?
-
Phantasy Star II was the game released a while back. Wouldn't recommend Phantasy Star III. It's the weakest of the PS games.
However, if IV is to be released and you don't own Sega Genesis Collection for the PS2 or PSP, I'd suggest getting it. $8 for a game that was $95 when originally released is a STEAL. Especially when it and PSII were the best of the series.
Also, PSIII is on the GENESIS. Not Master System. Only the first Phantasy Star was on the Master System.
-
Finally. A VC game worth purchasing.

Fixed :P. I had glanced at the info, saw something that began with the letter M and assumed Master System. I forgot that some people keep using the word "Mega Drive".
Oh by the way, sometime this year. Four Interplay titles will be coming along:

Boogerman
Clayfighter…

I need to know if I should feel ashamed of myself or not. -

Fuck yeah!!!! EWJ 1 & 2 would of been a good enough announcement but Boogerman and Clayfighter too? Holy fuck is that awesome.

@Tommy:

I need to know if I should feel ashamed of myself or not. Can't say anything about Boogerman or Clayfighters, but there's no shame in loving Earthworm Jim. :cheerful:
-
I LOVE BOOGERMAN! Wish they made some sequels though…
The funny thing about it is, my uncle gave me it after he found it in the trash (he was a trashman). Didn't expect to find that the game fit right in (no game play-wise, but subject wise).
-
Downloaded River City Ransom. Good god, I forgot how stupidly long passwords were. Thank god for battery saves.
Also, let's hope that those titles hit the SNES as well. Most games turned out better on the SNES than on the Genesis. But then again, let's see when those games ever decide to show up. We were promised "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" long ago and have yet to see anything.

question:
will the DS games require Wii Points when they hit the wiiware series in May? -
question:
will the DS games require Wii Points when they hit the wiiware series in May?They're only demos. So no Wii Points. There's no way you could permanently download games onto your DS unless they make one with a way to save stuff onto the hardware. o_o
Speaking of WiiWare, official date is May 12. Everybody's Nintento Channel is coming on the same day. The downside? WiiWare titles will be like Virtual Console releases. We'll be seeing games released on a weekly basis, rather than monthly. Even though a monthly basis would seem like dry spells of later months not having releases, it still means waiting forever for certain games to come. o_O;
Also, Nintendo of Japan is releasing a white GameCube controller. Obviously it's intended to match the Wii's color scheme.
-
So I'm kind of at a loss with my Wii.
Is there anymore titles coming out for the Wii that actually look worth it? There's not a single game I'm interested in getting after Mario Kart came out. And I'm not even planning on getting MK, so my Wii is just a Brawl machine at this point.

Now I see why it was a little hard to find DS Stations in alot of the game stores
I am getting these games for the wii As soon as I can since I only own so far Twilight princess:
One Piece:UA
SSBB
and I may Have to pick up a new GCN controller soon since
A.thats how I play SSBB
B.it starting ,after 5 years and 12+Hours a day of gameplay,to seperate on one side of the controller -

Hopefully as the year goes on, we'll see announcements for more new stuff.
Is all I can really say at this point.

Do you have No More Heroes or Zack & Wiki yet? If not, get them.
-
New VC releases for Monday:
!
-
Is that all we're getting?
-
Microsoft already got it, I surprised no one mentioned Rondo Of Blood on the VC
though this is presumably caused by two reasons.- The game will hit the VC in Japan.
- People already have the PSP remake.
-
@Sandai:
Microsoft already got it
I regret having bought it, too. The arcade version is a fucking pain in the ass.
-
Beat em ups are designed like that, it ain't as annoying as Renegade though.
-
I'm totally waiting for Double Dragon II: The Revenge to be released.
Point aside, it's a good sign with the first game being released.
-
@Sandai:

I found the NES version of DD to be actually playable. I can't get past the fucking first screen of the arcade version without having my friend join me. :|
-
Console ports of beat em ups are slightly less challenging than their arcade big brothers.
-
Sandai Mera: They also usually are way less broken than their arcade big brothers. Leatherhead in the arcade version of Turtles in Time is impossible to beat without spending at least an additional dollar.
