Let's hope this works.

Hmm..Very interesting. If my memory serves me, there doesn't seem to be that much change to anything compared to volume 1 of the Japanese version that is floating around the internet, translated.
It intrigues me and I shall seriously consider purchasing the Viz version.
-
Looks like they did a good job with translations… that cover art text still bugs the hell out of me though. Ah well, I'll be getting it anyways.
-
Hmm, only looks like the sound fx were changed. I'll definitely be picking these up I suppose. The cover design does kind of bug me but whatever.
-
I'll buy it. I just hope they keep the edits to a minimum. crosses fingers

Don't worry. A friend of mine told me that if Viz screws with FMA Square will bust their faces inside out.

Essentially, it goes like this…
Episodes 1-25: More or less the same, though the anime adds a few filler episodes and other extra things that lead into some of its later plot points, as well as changing a few things. Also, the flashback to Ed and Al's past doesn't happen in the manga until after Izumi is introduced (their telling her about what happened to their bodies is what triggers it).
Episodes 26-37: Loosely follow the manga. Everything about Izumi and Greed are in general the same, except for that there's no Kimberly (he's appeared in the manga, but is still in prison), no Frank Archer (he's an anime original character), no Wrath (well, "Wrath" does appear, but he's a totally different character from the anime's Wrath), and the Greed story has a TOTALLY different twist ending.
Episodes 38-51: Has a couple events that parallel the manga but in terms of the way things actually happen and play out, they are completely different at this point. The anime also doesn't introduce Ling, who is by far the single most awesomest FMA character EVER (though here's hoping he at least gets a cameo in the movie).

Ling alone makes the manga >>>>>>> anime. I love that dude. Lan Fan and Mei-chan are great too. Wonder when Mei will finally meet Ed….

I thought the anime came first?
-
No, the manga had already been running in Monthly Gangan for 2 or so years before the anime aired. It's rare for anime to come first, since most of the time it's based off of some manga version.
-
Ah… that's kind of disappointing.
-
they actually did very well with it. I might buy if I have extra money..

I don't think they ever gave a concrete explanation as to why Ed is short. But yes, they do offer a theory (straight from Ed's mouth!) in the manga on why he hasn't grown.
-
They didn't really explain in the anime why he was short (not like the manga theory), but it was either the milk or his metal limbs stunting his growth… I can't remember if they kept the heavy limbs part in the anime? Ah I need to rewatch it sometime...
About Mei though, I almost don't want her to meet Ed because her vision of him just cracks me up every time

OK, I got the first volume. It's alright, some language is watered down. When it isn't. we see $@#%. SFX translated. We even get some "DON"s -> "TA-DA"s
I'm mixed about it. Anything else people want to know?
