@Quexinos:
hahah i get it, so you don't want OP to have this correct?
i watch the episodes side by side and normally the translations are spot on but a few times there are some differences (like Blackbeard saying LUffy wasn't even worth 30 million)
I do not want One Piece to be like Yu Yu Hakusho. I like it just the way it is. The only time I would be accepting of that sort of change is if it's such a good change it makes me say "Damn, Oda should have done it that way the first time around."
So… the bar is high.
Here's an example. Probably one of my favorite scenes from early Yu Yu Hakusho.
(going from memory, so I might have some details off)
You have Hiei, a bad-ass demon with an all-seeing eye. He's tracked down Yusuke's girlfriend, Keiko and intends to kidnapp her to lure Yusuke into a trap. At the same time, Keiko is feeling insecure about her relationship with Yusuke.
Now in the original scene, Hiei simply says Keiko's name and attacks her. End of scene.
In the Funi version though, Hiei says "Don't worry, Keiko. He likes you well enough." and then attacks.
This line works on so many great levels. It acknowledges Hiei's telepathic abilities in that had to have been reading her mind before he attacked her. So not only is he reassuring her that Yusuke does in fact care for her, but the fact that Yusuke cares about her is the reason he's about to kidnap her.
He basically says "I'm a telepath", "Yusuke likes you", and "I'm about to kidnap you", all in the same phrase.
