I'm pretty sure the first (only the remake for the DS) and third games are the only ones with five cases. At least, I've heard the fourth game only has four cases. It seems odd that they'd go back to just four after having one with five, though.
Phoenix Wright - Trials & Tribulations
-
-
Justice for All has only four cases, as does GS4. I think that the producers went back to having only four cases for GS4, because it wasn't quite as storyline heavy as Trials and Tribulations.
Originally, T&T was the first PW game to have five cases upon it's initial release.
-
Website for the third game is up. It looks like this one had more effort put into it than the websites for the last two games.
Also, it looks like Capcom is having a Phoenix Wright macro contest.
http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/news.php/2007/09/27/we_re_in_ur_contest_judgin_ur_entryz
PRIZES: Everyone who enters will receive a coupon code for 10% off pre-orders for the new Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations at the Capcom Store. The top 3 placers will also receive Ace Attorney plush toys and a limited-edition Ace Attorney poster signed by Ace Attorney producer Minae Matsukawa. In addition to the signature, the poster also includes a special note from Matsukawa-san. I’d tell you what it says, except 1) that would ruin the surprise 2) they appear to say different things 3) I can’t read Japanese. In addition to the above, the first-place winner will also receive a copy of the new Ace Attorney game.
-
That's great. But where the hell is there a Capcom store, anyway?
-

But you have to admit that the fourth case is really short, like the first cases of the 3 episodes…
Any adia about when is GS4 coming out?
-
No date for the US release of the fourth game yet. I expect some time next year, maybe in the first quarter.
-
i went down to ebgames to preorder the game, but they hadn't gotten the plush yet which sucks
-
Well it's said that they pre-order plushies are only available with pre-orders in gamestop or Capcom stores, so that may be the problem for ya.
Looks like the pre-order bonus for Ace Attorney 3 has been announced.
http://www.court-records.net/goods/pwplush.jpg
Only available from Gamestop or Capcom store preorders.
…Wow. Ever since I finished the 3rd case in the 3rd game, I was wondering if they ever made any merchandise for the series. I bought the first Phoenix Wright game about a month ago, and at that time I pre-ordered the 3rd game at Gamestop as well, so yay for me ^_^
-
@Mr.:

no, it was an EB Games, they told me they hadn't gotten them in yet. I haven't checked since then
-
Just beat the game, it was really awesome. Overall I think it was better than the first two. The second case was my favorite, Luke Atmey is one of my favorite characters ever in PW.
However, the last case did not live up to the potential IMO. It simply was not as suspenseful and exciting as the ones from the last two games. Ah well,
! Phoenix Wright looking badass and drinking coffee like Godot was worth it.
In any case, I simply can not wait for GS4 when it gets translated. I reaaaaaally dislike the idea of a new cast but hey, I need to give them a chance. I just grew to like this current one so much, and I wanna know
! how the heck are they gonna logically explain why Phoenix quit being an attorney and staying with Maya or anyone? BTW don't answer me, I dont want to get spoiled, I would rather play the game and find out myself.
-
You think people just "quit" being Ace Attorneys.
-
MAYA is DEAD …...................
-
The fourth game tells you in the first case why Phoenix quit being a lawyer. That's all I'll say on the matter. In fact, that's all GS4 really explains about Phoenix's leaving his legal career.
Other than that, a fifth GS game has been hinted at for development by the creators but we have nothing else on it save for that XD. Maybe more will be explained about why
HobohodouPhoenix cut his ties with everyone inbetween T&T and GS4. -
no, it was an EB Games, they told me they hadn't gotten them in yet. I haven't checked since then
I called a few Gamestops, and none of them had the plushies, but some of them said they don't usually get pre-order bonuses until a few days before the game actually comes out, so maybe that'll clear things up.
-
Well, the third game is coming out in three days. But just recently some news on the fourth game has been released.
Mainly the new trailer: http://media.ds.ign.com/media/827/827856/vids_1.html
For the trailer, there were two versions released in Japan, one with and one without voiceovers. I sort of doubt the one with them will be made in English, seeing as they use actual voice actors for the Japanese release, while the English release just grabs someone from the office and has them yell "OBJECTION" into a microphone.
Also, judging by the few screenshots released, it looks like Klavier has an accent. http://uk.gamespot.com/ds/adventure/gyakutansaiban4/images.html
-
Oh dear God XD. It's bad enough that his name means "piano" (especially when he plays guitar), but now he has to have the silly German accent too? God, the yaoi fangirls are going to EAT this up.
Why give a character an accent now? Why didn't they give Franziska one? Oh dear God, what are they going to do to the French Chef in T&T? I'm scared now. Dx.
The Achtung Baby line had me laughing though.
-
Yeah, the "achtung, baby" line is probably the best in the screenshots there.
From someone who understands Japanese and played the fourth game:
Originally Kyouya was raised in America (though having a very Japanese name) and used a lot of English in court. It's all over his song lyrics, too–it's part of his gimmick. I'm pretty sure he cut it out whe he was being serious, though.
So I guess they changed him being raised in America to being raised in Germany and the same with his use of English being changed to German.
Also, here's the new trailer on Youtube for anyone who doesn't want to use IGN.
-
Picked it up today (with the plushie). Second case so far.
The first case was really good. Such an awesome case and no investigating and no Maya. It was really awesome, great way to start off the game.
[hide]And the scene with Payne getting his hair blown off was beyond awesome. Best scene of the entire case. Reminded me of Enel's face.[/hide]
-
got it, forgot to ask bout the plush! DAMN! but anyway, I enjoyed Payne getting owned as well
-
The weather is pretty bad out here so I'll probably wait until tomorrow to pick it up.
-
Rawr. I'm flat broke. So unfortunately, I can't buy it until I get my check. And even then, I probably won't get it right away because it might be on backorder by then >_>;.
-

Weather's pretty bad in the first case too
-
@Cap'n:
Weather's pretty bad in the first case too
Hahahah, thanks for letting me in on that.
-
why are there so many awkward jokes in this one?
! Phoenix: My beloved Dollie dosn't poop!
Pearl: Detective Dick! -
I must be cursed when it comes to pre-order bonuses. I couldn't get the Poke'mon stylus with Poke'mon Diamond because they ran out, I didn't get the DS case with One Piece: Gear Spirit due to a failed transaction, and now I didn't get the Phoenix Wright plushie, even though I had this game pre-ordered since 3 months ago.
I called (my mom picked up the game) and asked what the deal was, and apparently they ran out. They said that when they get more in stock they'd give them to the rest of the people that didn't rightfully get theirs, so I've been calling them every so often to see if they've gotten anymore. I'm still hopin'…
I got the game last night, and today I got Justice For All. I haven't played them yet since I've got a lot of schoolwork (yet I had the time to get on here xD).
-
This thing about ladders must be a running joke or something… I remember Phoenix and Maya talking about ladders and step-ladders in the first game, saw it at the beginning of the second case of the third game, and I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in the second game, too.
Anyway, finished the first actual trial day of case 2. I had spoiled myself on some things but I was still caught off guard near the end of the day.
! I thought the trial ended too quickly, but I was still surprised when it ended with me having to solve a new case. I knew something was wrong when it wasn't a murder at first, though, seeing as every single case seems to be a murder in these games.
-
"Well, we know whose milkshake brings all the boys to the yard"
-
Yeah, that line and Maya's "attention whore" line really got to me.
! Hated case 2. Atmey was really awesome, the case was near perfect, even Ron was a strangely decent character, but that final court sequence was a drag. An absolute drag. I really can't stand Godot. Posing like a badass, boring me to hell with his metaphoric lines and boring "Objection!". Ugh, they really failed halfway to create a cool guy who "could be friend or foe", but instead they just made a java-chugging dickweed who would be thrown out of a real court within an instant for not making any sense aside from asking for proof.
! What's worse are the people after the trial thinking he's such a fearless warrior. He sucked ass. -

oh my god! I screamed when I saw that!

Case 2 definitely is taking a twist of its own at the point I'm at. Interesting…
-

edit: And it looks like all the fans of GS 4 are freaking out that Takita from the game is apparently named Wocky in the English version. Out of the commotion, one of them did come up with a good name for Daian, though.
[hide][/hide]
-
I found a slight typo XD
! in case two, at the second trial, in DeLite's first testimony, his added testimony statement says "Blackmail Thread" instead of "Blackmail Threat"
….............that was totally pointless -
Thankfully, most of the typos from the English version in the Japanese release have been fixed. But, as you see there, some seemed to have slipped through.
I've been trying to see if I can find "humun error" in case 3. No luck yet.
-
! . Out of the commotion, one of them did come up with a good name for Daian, though.
! [hide]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v97/mikker/peniz.png[/hide]
! …pffft. Ha ha ha! I see what they did there. Can they get away with that? -
If somehow Capcom could get away with that, then case three of the fourth game would be all about… Klavier and Penizair (although I'm not sure I'm pronouncing Klavier right if it's rhyming with Penizair).
-
I take it back, Godot is the coolest of the cool.
-
I like Atmey XD
! even though he's a psychopathic murderer XD
-

Best thing ever
Best thing everTake your pick.
Oh my God, this is gay.
After Case 4, I think T&T deserves 6 cases.
How can that pathetic, 15 minute excuse for a episode possibly be described as 1/5 of the games episodes?
-
What's with all these media references!
! Maya:This is Madness
Phoenix: No Maya, that is SPARDA.! judge: ruh-roh!
! Phoenix: She looks more like some ghost in some shell.
-
Phoenix Wright games have always done that. It's really funny if you ask me.
-
Finished the game. Spoilers for the final case:
! Was hoping I'd be able to go through the whole game without having to defend Maya again. That seemed like it could've happened until the last few bits of the fifth case.
! Still not sure how to feel about Godot. Part of me feels like his "tragic character" and "coolness" factors felt a bit tacked on, while another part of me wants to like him if only because of his theme music.
! I did suspect Godot was the killer in the final case at first, mainly because I thought I read it in a spoiler once. After getting far into the case, though, I didn't even think about Godot being the killer. It wasn't until I remembered that, if Dahlia was the killer, that means Pearl or Maya would be the guilty ones, and I knew they'd never put either of them in jail. After how much this game, along with certain parts of the other games, focuses on the Fey family, I really hope they don't show up again in the games after Apollo takes over. I think we've seen enough of them.
-
This post is deleted!
-
Two words for this game: fucking brilliant. The final case wrapped every other case in the game around it's finger (per say) and closed the series really fucking well.
! Godot is the man and poor Iris! Really liked how everything turned out and can't wait for the next series.
-
Am I the only one who thinks Phoenix's story's ending kinda sucked? I mean, Bakini is one of the last characters you see!
-
I don't think it sucked, per say, but what I would of liked to see wasn't much better.
-
That game was totally made out of win. Although in ONE way, I could do without the second Mia case but it was crucial for the storyline so yea. That's probably because I love the investigation part of the game and there was non in it.
The only thing that sucked for me was that I spoiled myself a bit with Gyakuten Saiban 4 and to see the ending when you know what's going to happen to Phoenix… it made me feel kind of sad.
Also, Godot made me cry.
-
I don't think it sucked, per say, but what I would of liked to see wasn't much better.
don't get me wrong, I loved this game, I just didn't like how they did the ending. Compared to the ending in the first, it kind of dissapointed me I guess
@Miss:Also, Godot made me cry.
Godot makes everyone cry:cwy:
-
Was it ever established in this thread that the first 3 P.W. games had an option for english language in the JP ver.?
BTW, tho I'm still playing 2, I do hope the Fey's don't show up in G. Saiban 4 & 5; I AM SICK of them showing up and helping you in trials.
-
As far as what I have read, the Feys do NOT show up in four. The only PW arc characters that show up are Phoenix, Winston Payne and the Judge.
Five is beyond anyone's guess at this point, as nothing has been discussed besides it's conception.
