I hope Sakurai gives us some more Mother 3 stuff (or any Mother stuff) this week as I'm very intrigued by this game I haven't played.
Super Smash Bros Brawl ptII

2.) We had zero proof of him being slow, just hinted.
Jesus Christ, stop being so damn paranoid.
"He’s not really invincible—he still takes damage. But he won’t flinch in the slightest.
This time, there are several moves like this among the heavy characters, so watch out!"
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Oh, and: JESUS CHRIST, STOP TAKING THINGS SERIOUSLY BLAH BLAH. And the word 'paranoid' doesn't even fit the context, silly boy. ]:
-
Paranoid in the sense of "OMG SOMEONE SAID SOMETHING THAT HAS A POSSIBLIITY OF BEING WRONG! I MUST MAKE A SPECTACLE OF THIS!"
Also, heavy doesn't mean slow, though it is a big hint at it. And besides, both those moves looked like they could be variations of Marth and Roy's, which is what I was getting at. Hell, looking at the video, Ike's erruption (Where did they even get that attack from?) looks like their B move.
-
I wish Mother 3 was translated or something. Lucas looks awesome, New Pork City in the youtube video Carter posted looks fucking enormous and reminds me of old DragonQuest. And after some videos watched, I bet I'd really like it. Why in the world wouldn't Nintendo translate a game that was that big in Japan?
Gayyy…
-
Earthbound apparently didn't sell well here, so they didn't bother. It's like Boktai. Sad though, 'cause Mother 3 looks like tons of fun.
-
If it makes you feel better, Mato and some other guys are working on a translation for it.
EDIT:
Saloma, you just reminded me. Did Spikeman and the other folks working on a Shinbok translation finish? I haven't been to BnT in forever. -
That surprises me. America seems like the sort of country that would go nuts over a Japanese RPG like that.
And yeah, I bookmarked he blog in Mato's sig. I hope they're done soon.
-
new arena looks cool.

That's not paranoia, though. That's just pointing out that somebody was wrong. All you had to do was say: "Yeah, that makes sense."
Uh, the fact that Ike was called a "heavy hitter" with super armor pretty much means he's slow. Never in the history of fighting games has there ever been a fast, weak character with super armor, since they don't need it. You're basically just calling technicality on something that was completely obvious.
-
Yup, in fighting games, there's usually an distinct tradeoff for speed and power, etc.
Or at least games who try to create a balanced tier list.
-
Well, whatever. I really don't feel like discussing this any further. I'll just say this: I never thought of Ike as a slow character, mostly because he wasn't in his actual game. It's weird seeing him as someone who's slow.
@Solar:
Saloma, you just reminded me. Did Spikeman and the other folks working on a Shinbok translation finish? I haven't been to BnT in forever.
It's 99% done. Just needs some more tweaks and an addition of the secret items. I've played through it, all the text is translated, save for a few minor things.
-
This is why there is no released Mother 3 rom translation yet:
-
Please, a link to the Boktai 3 translation, please.
-
I know this has probably been said but OMG OMG OMG OMG Sonic!!!!! He's already the best character in this game!!!
-
Please, a link to the Boktai 3 translation, please.
Not only do I not fee like it, I can't. The translation isn't out yet, I'm just a beta tester.
Who wants to bet today's update is music? Either that, or someone's special moves. Hell, maybe even both.

Something about Lucas is what I'm putting my bet on.

STADIUM: Home-Run Contest
haha Online and 2 player modes. Awesome
-
What you find awesome, I find lame.
Still waiting for Captain Falcon.
-
Sandbag Contest online?
Count me in. Looks like it's been tweaked enough to where we might actually see some serious competition. From hitting the Sandbag.
Now there's something I'd thought I'd never say.
-
Wiw I admit it, this is rather neat. Between the extra options I probery try it at least a few times. Oh and I love the shield since I had a bad habbit of knocking him off the platform in melee.
-
The shield is a great idea… too bad I'll never bother with Home-Run Contest. It was never a very interesting concept.
-
At first I was like, uh yeah okay, nice, not bad. And then when I read that it has not just co-op and alternating 2P but ONLINE also. I thought OH CRAP! Makes me wonder if we'll see stuff like this done for "Break the Targets" or "Race to the Finish"
-
Wow you can use 2 players to fight Sandbag thats cool
-
Since in Melee I probably put more time into Home-Run Contest than what I put into the actual meat of the singleplayer mode… it's needless to say I'm happy to see these new features. I loved that Break the Target thing too so this makes me hopeful that we will see new tweaks for that mode too, perhaps a similar co-op mode. Brawl needs more of these type of modes. You know, stuff which requires of bit of thinking and planning.
-
The day has finally arrived! HOMERUN CONTEST!!!! Best event in video game history.
-
This could be kind of cool, wonder if this mode leads to some nice unlockables…
-
I'm glad that even on short notice, they can able to put some really awesome features into WiFi.
Actually, when I thought about unlockables online, I thought "No way, that would be unfair to people who don't have internet", but then I remembered Melee had a function that gave you certain trophies if you had the correct game in the Game Cube. So unlockables online, like stickers, trophies, etc. wouldn't be that bad of an unlockable.
I wonder if they'll be some sort of trading function.
-
The lamest contes mode first (ummm forgot race to the finish, but if it was greatly improved it is in the right order), work it up from here sakurai, the 1v1 Break the targets, 1v1 Board the plataforms, 1v1 race to the finish with a better stage, 1v1 multiman melee (I hope with the old polygon team, or the primids if they replaced them), trophy tustle oh this is the lamest one, hope it was removed.
My main problem with the homerun mode was that I alwais ended up tossing sandbag by accident to the ground, so the shield may let me enjoy this.
-
I loved Board the Platforms.
That shit better be returning.
-
Board the Platforms was way better than that "Hit the Trophy into the Generic Chute" bullshit.
-
Yeah, especially when you already have every goddamn trophy
-
Hard to believe this is back… This was not one of my favorites..on account the sand bag would just drop straight down after a few hits in Melee
-

That was sort of the challenge of it - the point of it. You had to figure how you can inflict as much damage as you can without dropping the sandbag so by the look of it this is basicly dumbing it down for all of those who found that too challenging. I do hope the force field actually lend itself to new interesting strategies but as of now, without testing it, it's just makes the mode more casual friendly.
-
It was easiest with fox.
Mash B.
-
I have still yet to unlock Yoshi's classic stage through the Homerun Contest.
I'm quite excited about this though, as the mini games in Melee were decently fun, but felt really unfinished and sort of half-assed.
-
This post is deleted!

@Mr.:
I have still yet to unlock Yoshi's classic stage through the Homerun Contest.
Wow. Just keep capping him with Dr. Mario until it reaches the edge and then homerun it.
-
Yoshi's mid air kick flurry worked well too
-
I think it pretty much comes down to me being completely incompetent at Smash Bros.
I'll dust of ye old Melee and give these strategies a shot, though I have tried using Yoshi's mid air upA to no avail.
-
I wish he saved this update for Friday
"HOMERUN CONTEST IS BACK!!!!! see you next week"
-
I don't know if anyone might have mentioned this yet, but does anyone think that Capcom's big revelation maybe Megaman's inclusion to Brawl?
-
That's the popular theory on places like GameFAQs, but it's most likely about their 2 or 3 new titles coming out.
-
Wasn't the revelation just Bionic Commando for 360, PS3, and PC?
-
It isn't confirmed, but that's one of the likely ones.
-
Is the revelation that I hope that it is, I hope that isn't something like "omg, sequel" I like them, but or a new series, resurrection of clover studios or megaman for brawl are the only ones that deserved the hype.
-
Capcom's "big announcements" tend to be much lesser deals than everyone thinks they'll be
-
Sup, found this video of some guys trying to make their own Smash bros trailer
sadly, it fails horribly -
Tried to watch that a while ago. Struggled through it and kept watching in case it was funny only for how badly it was done. Then I figured it wasn't worth it anymore when Sonic started vomiting.
-
You have 5 times the common sense that I do..
