Hey there! I'm Jamie I'm 17 and I live in England (ya it's cool). I've used this site a few times for info/media etc as I am a long time One Piece fan, but now I thought it time to join and begin discussions (mainly cuz of the new dub). Hoping that I stay interested in this forum longer than I do on most cuz its about my favourite thing :D (that's OP is you didn't guess :P)
I spent far too much time thinking what to put as my topic title

"Jolly good" "still on for the foxhunt this saturday?" "penny" "i'v been robbed, call the bobbys" etc etc… =P

Lol. Chocks away is kind of like tally-ho, like something you say before charge. It comes from RAF pilots in WW2. Blaggard is a generic word for a bastard or an evil person of some sort. Scarper just means to go or leave, but is generally used when needing to leave in a hurry for whatever reason. Bollocks just means testicles, but people say it like "that's bollocks" as in bullshit. Dog's bollocks is just a cockney term to describe something as good or awesome.
Hope that helps :D Just let me know if you need any "Enlgand-ish" translating done :P

Heh, you think that's bad? You should try Shakespeare!
We have to read the original Macbeth in school.
"Let me enfold thee and hold thee to my heart." It basically means "Give us a hug!"

"think that's bad" ? now you confused me… is that really the right expression in this case?
i havent really said anything is bad just that those three words were new to me.
(and i knew the definition of bollocks and dogs bollcks, =P i was just adding to the "england-ish" in the thread =P)Ah, no. I meant it as a turn of phrase.
I meant, if you thought upper class English was difficult to 'get' then Old English is a hundred times worse. Seriously, at first Macbeth was like gibberish to me.
Well, cheerio my good fellow!
-
Lol Old English sucks! I mean you only have to read books from 150 years ago and its almost another language. P.S. Don't ever read anything by George Eliot. She sucks.

Welcome to the forums. Enjoy yourself. [/genericwelcomethat'stillisawelcome]
