Yep we all get that feeling.
The one title I didn't like from 4kids is: Humps, Bumps, and Chumps and I'm like…what the hell.

I wounder what else the Toonzone peeps know… like if they know its confirmed that we have Free Will and Hikari e or not.
-
I hope we have Hikari E plus you'll think we'll get a dubbed ending?
-
Yep we all get that feeling.
The one title I didn't like from 4kids is: Humps, Bumps, and Chumps and I'm like…what the hell.What about "The Crack of Don"?
That title was just gross… :sick:

@Lobster:
What about "The Crack of Don"?
That title was just gross… :sick:
Well I was pretty immune to that one. Crack of Dawn…I can imagine this as a pokemon title...
-
@Lobster:
What about "The Crack of 4Shame"?
That title was just gross… :sick:
Sixteen fixeds …

Yare yare, I know. Besides, he's the one who's been making retarded videos bashing AP members on Youtube using some crappy speech program. He has one for Buuhan, Aokiji, and Dragon Warrior.
As for Lordsteel, he's being an idiot troll.
LOL! I totally missed when he did one for me. I thought once u saw someone's IP you could fix it so they could never have another account here..?
Anyway, it looked like we got a confirmed title,then it turned out to be another rumor with no hard evidence…sigh Atleast the date is FINALLY official! I rly think CN isn't going to air a single promo,but they could've atleast given us an hour long premiere.
-
@ARO:
^YA long titles are awsome. I love when luffy anounces the titles with that awsome music. It makes me excited.
The music playing when he announces the title often sounds… So misplaced, especially in the really epic episodes. =/
-
@Lobster:
Monkey See Monkey Doo
I think I heard somewhere that this was gonna be the title for episode 105 (dub count)
-
@Tommy:

It was. For the 4kids dub. But as you know, they lost One Piece so it didn't happen.

O.o;;;
One more reason to praise FUNimation!
:cwy: Thank you!
-
How long has 4kids been putting puns in titles?

….Since about forever....dotdotdot

disliking names of episodes since Episode #005

No, I meant for every show they do?
lol Pretty much. Ever seen Pokemon? EVERY english title was a pun.
@Buuhan. WTF? Was that the actual title they used in the episode!?! If so LULZ!

I dunno…I swore it was "The Black Cat Pirates". Maybe a wiki typo?

Yeah Poemon had alot of puns…some of them were bearable.

The reason I hate the 4Kids dub title "The Crack of Don" is because it's a 5 way pun.
-Don's armor cracked (Luffy smashed his gold armor)
-Don's mind cracked (he went insane after he "lost")
-Don's grip on the East Blue cracked (Luffy became the "meanest man in the East", -with the exception of Arlong, which the navy said wasn't as much as a threat because he stayed in one place) -Don's respect cracked (his crew lost respect for him)
-Don's butt cracked (Luffy kicked his can)
I think that's it. Man, 4Kids must have been on crack when they came up with that title…
[That was fun… ]
-
Well, I was talking about how much crack that Kahn must've been on when he thought kids were too stupid to read anymore and would appreciate rap above a warm, decent English rendition of "We Are."
-
@dirtmonkeyAL:
above a warm, decent English rendition of "We Are."
Like a delicate warm cup of sweet milk, over yonder by the fire place; and a nice stack of uncut One Piece dvd's chilling in the fridge?
Geeze, the 4Kids "We Are" wasn't THAT great. I actually dissliked how they changed the lyrics.
(geeze, this board is dead today. It's like me and that Dirtymonkey are the only ones posting D:) -

Thank you for explaining the episode title in such, SUCH detail.

Yu-Gi-Oh GX's dub titles are crammed to the wall with punny unfunniness. I mean, really…it's bad. (So is the dub, but who's keeping count?)

It's better than that RAP THING.
And again, I'm not dirty.
-

I found out about the title, like, a month or two after Funimation picked up the rights, so I honestly thought FUNi was gonna call it this. Good thing it's only from the defunct version and not the upcoming one. That would'a sucked hard.
Thanks for clearing this up for me, Buuhan.:happy:
-
@Vegard:
Totally not related to the topic, but where was that shot from?
The answer is in the title of the picture. It's also from the first episode FUNimation will air.
Anyways, I kinda like how my suggestion of "The Salvaging Monkey" sounds. It explains the episode, isn't a stupid pun. (It kind of is a pun, but playing off the already existent pun within the episode.)

Rest assured, whatever Funimation does, it'll be better than both openings.

I can only imagine Sept 9 at Arlong Park! ^_^

:happy: Exactly.
It was decent, but then this rap thing was tossed half-heartedly at us instead, so it just gave fans more stuff to hate about the dub.
And indeed, Funi will do a great job with the openings/endings. (There was a confirmed ending, right?)

Uh..no, I don't remember them saying that.

shakes fist Well, then there better be one …

Kids like rap and teeny bopper pop music. What America do YOU live in?
Someone already explained that the overproduced, sugary techno-y jpop fair is the most popular music genre in japan so that's what OP's opening songs are. Rap is the most popular type of music in America, so it was changed to a rap song. Don't get me wrong, I hated that song,but I don't think the jpop openings are all that amazing or HARDCORE either. And hating it because it was rap is just dumb. The Grand Adventure game had a GOOD OP opening theme that was rap,dude.
None of the other 4kids titles retained their japanese opening themes, why do you think 4kids would think they'd be pissing anyone off by changing it? The 4kids attitude is, and has always been WE'RE MAKING IT BETTER!!! And let's not pretend like their english Pokemon theme wasn't a TOTAL improvement from the Japanese version.

Well for dub fans who like the rap, they like it because it has a catchy tune, but it doesn't describe the show.
-
Can Mr. Mandelin confirm if the episode title is the one he translated and gave to the English ADR script writers?
-
Actually I didn't do that episode, the first one I handled was #149. I have all the translated eps here but this has turned into a really weird situation so I dunno if I should say anything or not. I definitely wouldn't trust that tv.com one though. I'm also not sure if the dub writers altered our title translations or not for the dub.
-
I don't think that's the episode title.
Am I the only one who thinks "The Caught Log" sounds stupid/wrong? Sounds like a poor translation to me.
I think "caught" sounds fine. "Taken" or "stolen" are actually extremely misleading words. What happens to the log is better described as being caught in another magnetic pull than using a more loaded word like "taken."
I like RomanGod's title, but he hasn't been back to defend his source yet. I'm curious where he got the info, since he seems like type to not be taken in by unreliable sources.
It probably goes without saying that Funi is dubbing the endings. Obviously, whether they air on CN is entirely up to CN, who hasn't released a scrap of info about what they plan on doing with the show (not that this is shocking or anything). If we assume they're following the format of the 4kids eps, it'll have an ending, but 4kids ending was just a 30 second version of the opening, so who knows. They might do the credits-at-double-speed-cut-off-the-song-half-way-through thing. I'd guess it'll show up on there in at least some form. But that's just my guess.
-

Odd. If you can, send me a PM and maybe we can share titles or something.
Yes, I'm still not able to say what the title is, or rather, confirm whether or not this title Master Moltar of Toon Zone has released on the web is real or not.
-
I figure they will speed the ending up or play some of it and cut id off half way. Or just make custom ending tunes like Naruto.
-
It was pretty much confirmed that Funimation would be taking the Yuu Yuu Hakusho route of dubbing openings. Meaning that they will be translated and basically kept the same in terms of content.
Whether or not these openings will be available on the TV broadcast remains to be seen (though more than likely it will)
-
Will the DVDs have the original japanese openings/endings?
-
@Tommy:
Will the DVDs have the original japanese openings/endings?
Of course. Funimation did something really cool on the Fruits Basket DVDs, where both the japanese credited openings and the English credited openings were on the disc as different angles. Which language you started with determined which visual you got.
-
Oh, it's real alright. Take a look at this, guys.
http://www.tvguide.com/Listings/
Okay. Now, you're gonna have to do some work, so bear with me. Go all the way to Friday 28th. Once you did, there should be a "double arrow" icon that'll take you to the next day (Saturday 29th). Go to 10:00pm, and there you go; the new episode title.
"Caught Log! King of Salvaging! Masira!"
EDIT: Oh, yeah. Don't forget to place your mouse on the "One Piece" title, otherwise the episode title won't show up.
-
^This is awsome Suppppppppppppppppaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funi does this for all their dvds. They've done this for Dbz, FMa, and YYH. The only ones they don't do this for are the ones they don't license like Beyblade Yu-gi-oh!, and Shaman King.

The title of the episode is pretty much close to the japanesse verison.

Nope, sorry. The last day is Friday September 28, and moving forward loops you back to Thursday September 13.

They said that they'll be as close as they can get, but yet be original.
