Wasn't RE5 360 already announced along time ago?
I never heard it announced for 360.
If it's not an exclusive then false alarm and 360 is still #3 on 'my list'.

Speaking of Microsoft, their E3 conference was entirely fail (minus AC and RE5). Now to see if Sony and Nintendo erase that fail from my memory.
so is DMC4 and a number of previously non XBox games
right now all the PS3 has going for it is
the main Square Enix games (for how long)
Metal Gear Solid
and
the works of Fumito Ueda (SoTC and ICO)

Lair seems interesting.
White Knight Story also seems killer.
That game starring the acrobatic killer chick looks awesome.
The card game that plays basically like the Star Wars holochess thing also looks fantastic.
Not to mention games in development we don't even know about.
Er, is the RE5 video anywhere yet?
Lair seems like Dynasty Warriors + that Pegasus level in GoW2
White Knight does look awesome along with Heavenly Sword (chick one)
Well, Sony has God of War 3 as a trump and Heavenly Sword looks quite good. I wanna say Killzone to will be another one, but I doubt it'll be that good. So it ain't over yet (although all signs point to them losing MGS4).
Sony had better wow at E3, they don't have any other option.
@Greg: It's only about 30 or so seconds long. And all u see is a few generic zombies here or there. But it'll probably be up in a few minutes.
So it ain't over yet (although all signs point to them losing MGS4).
Kojima has said many times it's only possible on the PS3 with respect to how he wants to handle it.
He also said MGS2 would be his last MGS so take that as you will but he seemed dead-set on that.
Lair seems like Dynasty Warriors + that Pegasus level in GoW2
I know literally nothing about it beyond it looks amazing and I like dragons so that works for me ^o^
Sorry if this might be a bit off-topic, but could anybody tell me the name of the guy who said "Giant Enemy Crab" at last year's E3?
Bill Ritch.
16 fuckin' sacks of crap.
Now that's marketing. Well, at least PS3 is now a better deal than before. In the US, that is. Europe didn't get anykind of a deal to begin with –- all 60GB models will be dumped on us with the same price tag as before.
That's funny.
Way too funny.
On the one hand though it's nice to see them sticking to supporting ONE unit.
Like they should have done from the start.
This multiple system bullshit has to go.
If for nothing else, Nintendo wins for giving consumers ONE choice.
If for nothing else, Nintendo wins for giving consumers ONE choice.
But the Wii and PS3 are different systems. With the Wii you don't need the memory space the PS3 offers, so Nintendo only need a one set deal. Sony are no different from any other gadget company. Microsoft have done the same thing with their Elite 360 console, Apple do it with the iPod.
The crazy thing I see with Sony's marketing is why it differents from region to region. They have two versions in one continent but only the higher up in another (Europe). If I had the choice when I went to buy my PS3 I would have bought the higher version anyway so I'm not to bothered. What it prevents is parents being able to afford a PS3 for their kids at Christmas and birthdays because they can only fork out for the expensive option.
I'm just glad I already have mine so I don't have to worry about all this, I can just look forward to the good games. Did anyone see the new LittleBigPlanet trailer? Didn't it look awesome? Home looked cool to.
That's the key difference between the Wii and the PS3: the casual consumer. An average consumer [like a parent] can afford to buy a Wii, but not a PS3.
Yeah the Wii and PS3 are different things.
The Wii is a games console, that is what it is. While the PS3 is an entertainment unit. You have the gaming part of it. Then you have the music, downloads and Blu-Ray player. You have the Home application coming out, which add the social networking side to it. They basically want to have it replace your PC in the end. This is a long way off but it is where they are aiming, while Nintendo just want a unique gaming experience.
Yeah, that's true too. A pure gamer isn't really going to have much interest in a Blu-ray player and the like, and vice-versa.
Hardcore gamers = Xbox 360
Fun loving gamers = Wii
Gadget whores = PS3
It's a bit extreme to refer to X-Box owners as "hardcore gamers", since you can own a Wii and be just as much of an avid gamer. The only difference is that Wii games tend to be more slated towards E, while X-Box games are more slated towards M. It's annoying to see X-Box owners talk about how they own a "Manbox 360" or some dumb shit.
Still tryin' to decide between a 360 and a PS3. The 360 is $200 cheaper and has great games like Dead Rising, but the PS3 probably has better graphics and the next Ueda Fumito game. Ugh, can't decide.
the 360 is basically a gaming computer, minus all the other software that isn't games
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/07/13/sony-says-60gb-is-not-over-in-us/
Looks like we got a little clarification on the whole "no-more-60-gig-models".
Sony needs to learn sometime this gen that people are not ready for Blue-Ray/super HD gaming.
Finally they did something right with the price drop, and the 60 gig is selling like mad for once. But it seems Sony wants to drive away from success, and now they are having it as a limited temorary time only. Once the 80 gig for $600 is the only PS3 type available, sales will slow down sooo much for them. They need to realize that most people do not have a need nor want to have 60 and especially 80 gigs of space on a gaming system. Not to mention that Sony is losing a lot of money with each sale, as it costs more money to make a PS3 than they sell it for. Well, in any case, I do not see Sony being top dog again this gen but that is pretty much known by now.
Sony screwed up what could be their greatest move since they released the PS3 last November. Honestly, why even call it a price cut? It doesn't matter if it will last a year, its still not permanent, so there is practically no change at all. Not to mention the fans who will be peeved at the announcement to even care buying a PS3. Stupid.
Maybe we'll see One Piece HD on bluray?

@IGN:
The folks at FUNimation Entertainment are far more forthcoming than some of their competitors when it comes to their plans for high-def. For starters, they have acknowledged to IGN that they have in fact chosen to go with the Blu-ray format when they do start releasing titles.
"At this point, we are in the Blu-ray camp. We started researching this about a year-and-a-half ago, actually," explains Ward Thomas, Senior VP of Sales and Operations at FUNimation. "We feel that the fanbase and our customers are very much trailblazers on the technology side, so it's something we wanted to get involved in right away. We really felt that the introduction of the PlayStation 3 last year was kind of a foray for our customers and fans to at least get into the next-gen platforms."
Blockbuster Video's recent announcement that it's siding with the Blu-ray format certainly won't hurt FUNimation's plans either.
"We do a nice business with Blockbuster," says Thomas. "I'll be honest with you. From a retail perspective, Blockbuster is probably pretty much the only place we do a retail business with right now. From an online perspective, obviously we're in business with Netflix and we have a wonderful business with them as well. Most of our rental business is with Blockbuster. Their announcement was just kind of gravy for us since that was the direction we were headed anyway."
Thomas says that the decision did not come lightly to choose Blu-ray over HD DVD. But after much research and exploring of both formats, FUNimation found that the interactive aspects of Blu-ray were much more appealing.
"Some of the demonstrations that we've seen, and just in talking to the different people [developing the format], the long-term interactive scope of Blu-ray just seems to be so much more endearing to at least the fans of the FUNimation content. I just think long-term what we're going to be able to do on a Blu-ray disc from the interactive programming perspective is really intriguing and it opens up a lot of new windows for us. So it was really the direction we wanted to head."
The company isn't quite ready to release any specific information regarding what titles they might launch first on Blu-ray or when we might see them (though they are willing to say that in all likelihood product will hit by the end of the year). But they do hint that an announcement is coming very soon and that "Comic-Con is coming up and all." In other words, stay tuned to IGN for more specifics about FUNimation's Blu-ray lineup in the coming weeks!
According to Wikipedia, there's talk of a new Twisted Metal game for PS3.
Mmmmmmmm, Twisted Metal.
the 499 PS3 will be no more

That was so page 38.
That was mean. No meanness intended.
Hey, looks like White Knight Story IS still alive. That game sounds and looks fantastic. Here's hoping.

Twisted Metal 2 and Black were sweet but I wonder, if it's true, who's making this game? David Jaffe is busy with his small games and Incognito, or whatever it is, is making Warhawk…
did anyone hear about the PSP Lite or is that old news too?
David Jaffe doesn't have any listed projects after Calling All Cars!, so.
For all we know, he's working on the new Twisted Metal right now.

I'd call that a hit it looks fantastic
That does look fantastic! But usually, they all do. Gameplay and leveling and the like can ruin a beautiful game.

Have you seen the gamplay demo which was actually the first trailer? It's like everything I've ever secretly desired as a nerd. Essentially a real-time Xenogears fighting alongside humans.
Oh man.
The average person will not pay 600 dollars for a game. Fail
The DS is beating the Psp in sales. http://www.cubed3.com/news/8043/ Fail

God forbid that you have to make an effort to make your character powerful…
You know, when PS2 first came out, I got Summoner as one of my first games and I LOVED it. I don't care what anyone says negatively about it, Summoner was great. It's seriously dated by today's RPG standards, but back then, it was fun.
Dark Cloud was... eh. The concept was great for the first few levels, then it got too repetitive. Dark Cloud 2 was great, though.
This game looks nice. I have high hopes for it. It looks like it might play a little like Suikoden.
They had some reviews out for LAIR, most of them were fairly positive, except one complained about the Ground Controls. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Have you been under a rock the past three years or something? The DS has been trouncing the PSP (and every other system, actually) for a good long while now in sales. In Japan, anyway.

He mentioned it because you being new means you probably didn't realize that we've been through these "facts" multiple times in this thread.

He was quite rude about it. Saying I didn't have a half a brain and such.
I've shed a single salty tear for your pain.
Next time read more than a post from a thread to see where it's headed.
Not to mention your facts aren't accurate. A PS3 is currently 500 bucks.
And what in the fuck does bringing in "Well PSP is getting beaten by DS" have to do? Because it's beating it means people can't enjoy it and therefore it fails?
You should have added some LOLZ and OMFGWTF!!!!111 and I would have been more understanding. I promise I will not say such rude and hurtful things again.

What a asshole. Learn some manners. And you are twisting my words. If sony can't hang with that piece o shit entertainment system, then they are fucked.

Have you ever even played the PS3 before you made that statement?

Nope I just look at sales. 600$ is too much for any game. I think the price will sink them.

Way to jump the bandwagon. But sure. Let's say that the price will sink sales. But that wouldn't hurt Sony too much when they sell a hoard of other stuff in terms of electronics.
In any case, before you criticize something you don't own as totally sucking, at least give it a chance, especially when the PS3 is the system where titles like LittleBigPlanet and Metal Gear Solid 4 are coming.

That is my own opinion and a good one. The average man cannot afford a Ps3 nor would get one because of the price.
I admit it has a few good games and I can't try a 600$ game out because I don't have that kind of loot.
Yeah, Sony definitely isn't one of the leading brands of electronics in the entire world.
The PS3 is a spit in the bucket for them. They've got more than enough money to handle the problems that the PS3 is bringing. It's not like each gaming company is hanging on for dear life, relying upon the sales of the current generation or they'll all be forced to eat their shoes.

Ok I wasn't saying that. I was saying that the PS3 will not succeed at that price. Why pump more money into a losing project?
Ok I wasn't saying that. I was saying that the PS3 will not succeed at that price.
It'll do fine. It's definitely not going to lead the market during this generation, but it's not going to die, by any means.

Why pump more words into a point that's been discussed and concluded time after time on this thread?
