Those gameplay screens look awesome. I can't wait for this.
Blackbeard looks even more badass than before. Who'd ever think a guy who looks like a beer drinking bum to be so awesome? I gotta get a DS for this.
Guess more and more anime games are saying "fuck the anime".
Screens look great. Which is a first.
Gonna have to pick this up and play on my bros. DS
Ace, well I'm sold.
Actually…it needs a combo counter first.
I like how people scan shit for us rolleyes
I got issue 31 today and Ace and Blackbeard were confirmed. So was the stage where they fight.
wait, issue 31 of what?
So a commercial for the game aired in Japan during this week's episode of One Piece and shows a short animated version of Ace and Blackbeard fighting. Can't wait to see if that gets uploaded.
@Mr.:
wait, issue 31 of what?
Weekly shonen jump.
And a gameplay video?! God I hope it is uploaded
No, it's not a Gameplay video. It's just a little anime version of Ace vs. Blackbeard.
Oh…Well that works too.
There, fixed that for ya.
Ima still go ahead and call it an anime game since it has colors and sounds.
What about Jump Ultimate/Super Stars? They sure weren't anime games and were packed with colour.
here's the ad (WITH ACE IN IT! ^-^) uploaded for those who haven't seen it yet:

God that was awesome.
From the gameplay vids, the game looks pretty crappy. But the short anime scenes in the commercial were great tho. But you can't judge a game based on short clips so I'll wait.
I think it's going to be a great game. Crappy or not it's the only One Piece DS game out there so far. Wheter it's good or not i'm pre-ordering my copy.
Ah, so it did include gameplay videos and the Ace vs. Blackbeard anime clips were only a second long, my mistake.

Doesn't really look much worse than Grand Battle 2, in my opinion. Which is a good thing.

You didn't like GB2? Oo
On the contrary. GB2 was awesome. I was saying the game looks about as good as GB2, in my opinion.
Of course it's for the DS… It looks great I should import this for sure Starts saving up cash
Looks like the character page on the website got a few more updates.

These supers BETTER be real time.
I mean that is all it comes down to. If they are, game instantly wins.
Did not the trailer show Luffy's scene performing Giant Pistol before it went back to "Real Time" with Luffy launching forward the Giant Fist? :wassat:
I think Koby will be In, he may be the one on Lucci's left side…
I also think there would be more supers. I mean, there are like different numbers for the cards of playable characters, and Usopp's card has a 2 when Nami and Luffy's have a 3, wich makes sense since both Thunder Lance Tempo and Gear third are their latest atacks. So, maybe Gear2 and Tornado Tempo would be in.
Yeah, it's already been stated that card's 1, 2, and 3 have different supers.
Trailer?
but yea, that is what I mean by real time supers. Like chopper going monster in the special, and then monster chopper fucking shit up real time. or kaku doing bigan and then real time launching his neck on screen.
Not just like grand battle 2 and other anime games where you hit them with the super initiation move, then the cutscene, then they are launched.
Kaku having Bigan as his super-ultra special is lame. Unless he has different numbered cards.
Wait, does everyone have different numbered cards for different supers or just the SHs?
Blackbeard has two different cards, as seen from a scan posted earlier.
Also, in the background of the commercial, I noticed the level 1 cards for Smoker, Vivi, and Crocodile, along with support cards for Dalton, Laboon, Kuro, and practically every Baroque Works member. Also, about 5 seconds into the video (where it shows a bunch of in-game footage), Eneru is visible in 3D, confirming that he is playable. He's in the top-left screenshot.

You can see the card levels in the vids. In the bottom right corner of the window that pops up.
that was kaku's level 2.
and all those characters you announced where in the scan Mega.
is the commercial on youtube?
Just a doubt, what the cards of non-playable characters will do?
Give different specials like the "playable ones"? O
And maaaaan… how can they put Lucci and Kaku and not put Jabura?
They are a trio (not exactly)! You can't let 2 of them be playable and forget the last one :/
because you only need one generic musclebound rokushiki user.
and the other cards will probably give status effects and power-ups or influence the environment. Characters are really on them just to use other faces.(better to have a "Garp" and "Sengoku" card than a "attack +" and "attack ++" card.)
Not saying that there won't be special summons or w/e, but not every non-playable character card is one.
So all the specials we saw on the trailler are playable characters. Good \o/

Yeah looking at it, that'd be nice. And it could possibly be because Ace uses that huge ass sun attack in the scans in real play and that seems like a move that deserves that it would be a special.
Still no wifi confirmation yet though. I really hope they end up having it. It'd be nice to kick some ass with brook over wifi.
The one thing that decides wheather I get this game is if it has Wifi. If it does, then I'm spent. If it doesn't, then it needs something huge to get me to buy it.
Oh, and is anyone else sick of Shanks and Mihawk being in these damn games? Sure, they're nice characters, but we barely know anything about them, so and it's just annoying to see two spots filled by them. Bon Clay, Don Kreig, Kuro and Arlong also bored me, but they're not in this game, so…
I like seeing shanks in Oda's latest style tho. Mihawk I could do without.
and as for wifi, just because the game is in 3d, I EXTREMELY doubt we will get wifi, but don't quote me on that.
Hey wait, pause at 04 sec. on the commercial, is that Brook on the right?
No that's Sanji.

Well mario kart was 3d and it had wifi. And maybe they are saving it until it almost comes out so it could be a hook line a sinker. At least I hope so anyway, the only character to really not be confirmed now is brook, so it'd be boring to go like a month with stuff we already know about. Well they still have to explain the battle system, but yeah.
Does the new vjump have anything?
Wheter it's good or not i'm pre-ordering my copy.
The same goes for me ^^;

Like Warp said, Mario Kart was in 3D and it worked just fine. Plus there was Metroid Prime Hunters, and Wi-Fi on that game is HUGE. 26 maps, with about a 3rd of them being some large maps, and the characters looked about as blocky as the characters in Gear Spirit. And Starfox Command looked really good in 3D, not to forget that the maps in that game were beautiful. Well, the sunset ocean one was, anyways…
So what I'm trying to say is that even if it's 3D it can still go Wi-Fi.
I sure hope it does, because I'd love to play against other people than just my younger brother :S
Plenty of 3D games have Wifi.
3d Fighter*
Mario kart is a kart racing game. Its pretty easy to predict what you will do next in that. Like FPS and sports titles. Have prediction algorithms whose sole purpose is to send information by mathmatically predicting what you will do next.
Probably explained it wrong, but this is what the jumping is in alot of online games. game predicts you will move forward and will send this when your connection can't or something. Not an expert on it.
Thing is, it is impossible to write one of these for fighters, since they have many more options and stricter timing.
This is the reason why there are no fighters online, and the ones that are suck ass(xbox version of vf5) and people just stay away from them.
I hope that makes sense, I only half know what I'm talking about. XP
Its easier for 2d fighters since they have a lower framerate. It'd be really hard to send a 3d fighter successfully through wifi. At least to where it is still fun(unless being hit by a giagato pistol before you even see it initiated on your screen qualifies as fun)
but yea, no way we can tell yet. Im about 85% sure wifi won't be present tho.
Well, if they don't get Wi-Fi, at least we'll end up with One Piece fighter for the DS ^_^

Networking doesn't work that way.
meh, Like I said, I only half knew what I was talking about.
my explanation was shit, but prediction algorithms ARE what is used in online gaming. Just can't explain how it works because I'm a noob. Point is, fighters can't have those, and thus they are hard to implement online.
Well, online or not, the game should still be at least halfway decent, shouldn't it?
And it still has download play. That makes me the happiest.

Networking doesn't work that way.
There are no prediction algorisms. Networking simply tries to establish synchronization between two machines. In other words, ensure that what happens on one machine happens on the other. There are multiple ways to do that, but none of them (well, I guess the most ineffective way) has anything to do with prediction.
The easiest way to explain it is… the network checks one machine to see what it's doing and checks the other to see if the other machine is doing the same. If not then (and this is where net code differ) it tries to find out how to make them the same. That's where you get into the algorithms and differences in net code.
Alright, this may be a n00b question, but is it possible to pre-order an import?
Yes.
