Gaara is basically the same as well, but neither of them are backstabbing douchebags who take up 90% of the panel space, so they're forgiven.

Yeah, Shino wouldn't be as badass if he wasted time talking. Plus, no emo baggage or sappy backstory, just a guy who gets things done as quickly as possible. And the neat drug dealer design is a bonus too.
I really hope Kishi uses Shino properly this arc, cuz I sadly forsee him being a cheeleader for Naruto's fight.
-
Shino's design in Part II is hilarious and excellent. Having a character that is that obscure and generic-looking actually makes him unique.
-
I don't see how he's generic honestly. I can't remember a lot of manga characters who look like meth dealers. But yeah his design is pretty hilarious anyway.
-
He supposedly looks generic and obscure in the story, is what was meant.
Naruto doesn't even recognize who he is, since nearly every part of his appearance is hidden.
-
Stealing? There were multiple chunnin positions availble if I remember. Everyone who deserved the title got it.
Don't worry, I'm sure the only reason Shino got pasted up was because he doesn't have a character. He's basically Tenten with a better win/lose record. You know it's true:
-Good character design.
-Neat fighting style.
-Little or no lines or screentime.and Shikamaru was the only one deserving of the title. Gotcha.
-
Shino needs a spin-off
-
Shino needs a spin-off
and you would be his side kick in Shino's drug dealing adventures in da hood?
-
No. I don't deal drugs so that'd be a bad idea.
-
Pssh Shino's part one design is such a huge rip off of Vash the Stampede.
But Shino is one of the best and underused Naruto characters. I would watch spin-off drug dealing Shino show.
-
Shino: "Yo, you 'trested in some… you know, chakra? Fresh from the tubes. Just lemme see the green and there'll be no in-between."
-
I smell a doujin.
-
bah we need Gaara in there shooting crap up with a glock. XD
-
Gohn could easily draw a doujin.
Of course, motivation is an issue, since it's fucking Naruto. It'd be a bit extreme to sacrifice one's own characters for Sasuke & Pals.
-
and Shikamaru was the only one deserving of the title. Gotcha.
Sure he was–why to fuck not?
But mostly, I wanted to make you feel bad for introducing that type of character bashing on this board. Blaming one fictional character for the suffering of another fictional character--when he had nothing to do with it--is some of the the most trivial and childish tripe I've seen. Shikamaru didn't take the title of "chunnin" away from Shino, so why hate him for it? If anything, Kishimoto just forgot about our little meth dealer.
It's almost as bad as fanshipping. Hell, being a chunnin doesn't even really mean much in Naruto.
Oh yeah, anyone seen Naruto own Kabuto with the Rasengan today? That was hilarious!
Gaara is basically the same as well, but neither of them are backstabbing douchebags who take up 90% of the panel space, so they're forgiven.
I was going to argue with this, but actually…it's pretty acurrate, except I wouldn't call Sasuke a backstabber...yet.
Doesn't anyone remember that Sasuke, by going to Orochimaru, was essentially giving up his life? In other words, by the end of part 1 Sasuke was basically commiting suicide to avenge his brother. I mean, everyone says leavin was Sasuke's choice, but if your friend or brother said "I've decided to kill myself"...would you really let them do it?
With that in mind, by the next time they meet Sasuke, admittedly if he doesn't want to go back, they have no reason to rescue him anymore. The driving force behind the "Rescue Sasuke" plot line was that, Ororchimaru's body possession was going to end Sasuke's life.
Hey...the "get Sasuke executed crowd" may actually get some backing if Sasuke refuses to go back to the village again...
-
Whaaaaaaaaaateva
-

Anybody who stops Sasuke from killing himself has some serious judgment issues.
-
@Cyringohn:
Anybody who stops Sasuke from killing himself has some serious judgment issues.
Well, that's Naruto and Sakura–Sasuke's dsyfunctional brother and crush--respectively...or both at the same time.
Still, my point remains, it's a good motivation to rescue someone, assuming you care about them. Like I said, some people like Sasuke, just like some people know that the guy in Aldrich's avatar isn't Liono.

Actualllly I don't feel bad at all…
Anyways that was character bashing? I think a lot of people would agree that Shino deserved to be chuunin at the end of the chuunin exams. Oh would it have been better for me to say it was Kankuro who took it from Shino by forfeiting?
Anyways... NINJA INFO CARDS! Discuss.

Well, that I won't argue with, but they did get the rank later, so I would think it wouldn't be a big deal.
And I think it would be more accurate to say that it's Orochimaru's fault be attacking the village before Sasuke's fight ended.
-
I'll trade you my Toad Summon Contract and Aoba for Iruka.
And then I'll trade you my decaying plot for your overused jutsu. -
Off topic, but there was a Naruto marathon on Toonami tonight. At one point, when the show was switching to commercial, they hinted at having another marathon in August. Could this possibly be a One Piece marathon? If that's the case, that would be awesome for the new dub.
As for the latest chapter, it was great. Hope the fight ends next chapter though. And shouldn't all those explosions have attracted everyone else to the fight between Sasuke and Deidara?
-

It's most likely a Naruto marathon. There was also another bump where they mentioned "showing every episode and then some."
-
God dammit, these marathons. They have too many of em, but I suppose it can't be helped cause it is their cash cow.
Well, least I actually kinda enjoy Pre-Sasuke Retrieval Naruto, so it's no big deal. But when the 2 year fillers come to the dub….
-
If they don't air shippuden at the same time, they are pretty much screwed.
They should make it so it's like dbz and db.
DBZ (Shippuden in this case) would air at 7, while DB (naruto fillers) would at 7:30
-
Airing filler and Shippuden at the same time would probably confuse anime only watchers.
It'd probably be best to air one or two filler arcs so Shippuden can get further ahead.
-
Did the dub get any better since the Chunin Exam Battles? An example like Naruto says "Believe It" only once or twice each episode. Does it actually sound like Dragon Ball dubs? (Those were well done)
-
Naruto stopped saying Believe It around episode 40 or so.
-
Naruto doesn't say "Believe It!" anymore.
Other than that, it's the same.
-
The acting's better than it was in the first 25 episodes or so because they got a new ADR director plus all the actors got more comfortable with their characters. I still don't like Naruto's voice that much and Tsunade's is really grating on the ears, but other than that it's great.
-
Naruto has never had a good voice. It's forcefully raspy and sounds like he has whooping cough.
-
@Cyringohn:
Naruto has never had a good voice. It's forcefully raspy and sounds like he has whooping cough.
…and that's good enough for me.
-
COUGH COUGH HOKAGE UPCHUCK
Believe It.
-
@Cyringohn:
COUGH COUGH HOKAGE UPCHUCK
Believe It.
Huh. Which episode is that from?
-
I'd wager to say Naruto's english voice is superior, but alas, alas indeed.
Anyway, I'm hoping to any pagan gods out there that they start advertising the new dub soon. Even if it's just a "hey guys new OP episodes" I'll take it. Just give it something~!Right, Naruto discussion, so, what about that Deidara? Silly kid, that one ha-hah-hah..I still hope he kicks Sasukes ass.
-
So what'll be more annoying? English or Japanese Naruto angsting over Sasuke like something right out of brokeback mountain during the upcoming Sasuke retrieval arc as well as shippuden?
-
About the same, I'd say.
"I can't believe it."
-
Sasuke would be nothing without his sharingan. Discuss.
-
False, Sasuke is nothing WITH his sharingan.
-
And without his Sharingan, he'd be…actually, without the Sharingan, he could have been a better character. Damn spinny eyes.
-
He'd be better off than naruto would be without kyuubi.
In fact, I think sasuke'd be pretty decent without it(assuming oro still trained him for 3 years). It was more of a tool than a broken win button this fight imo.
and arguing otherwise is like saying neji is nothing without byakugan, or shino is nothing without his bugs.
-
Naruto without Kyuubi would likely be the son of the still alive 4th, which means genius + tons of fangirls. So yeah, he wouldn't really be "worse off" without it.
-
Having a dad would make him less fail?
Wasn't he almost as bad as rock lee at the beginning(failed basic shit)?
-
@Geg:
Hidan maybe, but Kakuzu was definitely stronger than Deidara given how he would have killed Kakashi twice had it not been for interferences.
he was?? The first and last thing i saw from him was him shooting with his four elmental guns.. crushing a whole Forrest, before he got pwned by the good old "Sakura: this time iam the real one" trick.
And he felt for it.. Goddamn…100 years old.. fighting the best.. and he felt for a trick like.."hey look there a Boobies in the sky"-trick.
He was so damn impressive that i felt asleep while reading it.
-
well he just became the "Looser without friends" because of the kyubi…nobody knows what he would be without it...
-
Man, seeing those dub episodes made me realize how drawn out and godawful BORING the Tsunade Arc was for the most part. Maybe it's just the anime's rendition, but I used to think that arc was my favorite. Blargh.
-
It didn't seem that drawn out to me. But then again, I marathoned Part 1 so that may be it. It's about 10 - 15 episodes or so I think, seems fine but I guess it does seem drawn out with the excessive flashbacks and whatnot. Still, I'm enjoying it just as much the second time around. Especially since this arc contains one of the best fights in the series.
Kinda in agreement with Geg, Tsunade's voice is pretty taxing on the ears. I think they should used Major Kusanagi's VA for her, but she already has another role.
-
I wanted to see Orochimaru and Jiraiya do stuff, not Kabuto torture a 10-year old and Tsunade sitting there crying over a bit of blood.
-
Weren't Orochi and Jiraiya fighting tho? With Manda and Gamabunta and all. I somewhat remember Jiraiya doing some jutsu to make his hair sharp. I believe Jiraiya summons not to long after that, but I skipped the latest new dub epi and started playing 360 so I don't remember the rest.
I did however think that the Rasengan to Kabuto was pretty sweet tho, the last time where Naruto's victory was believable and made sense.
