I know it might look a little complicated and overhelming at first, but if you get to know some basic controls it gets pretty easy fast. I'd say you should google some basic tutorials for photoshoop first, just to get familiar with a few tools and shorcuts.

the tutorials dont help much….
KaizokuFan, what specific things are you hoping to do with Photoshop? (photo manipulation? line art? coloring? etc…) Maybe someone knows of some good tutorials for the things you are interested in learning, and we can guide you in the right direction. There are some great beginner tutorials out there. Many, on the other hand, are quite advanced and can lose you quick if you don't know the basics in regards to tools, etc. I know the actual Photoshop tutorials didn't help me at all, but the ones I found on the net (especially at Deviantart and other sites) have been instrumental in guiding me through the program.
Photoshop takes a long time to be good at. You need to know how layers, brushes and other tools work and you start to learn how to "mix" them together. Really, go use some tutorials to help you out. I've been using and practicing Photoshop for about 8 months, and I'm still no good. But I'm getting there.

Thank you!
This site has a number of tutorials for PS7, KaizokuFan. It goes through the basics of the tools, palettes, and menus. It also gives you the basics of masking, layers, etc.

Problem with Pencil is it works like MS Paint's brush tool.
Use brush, but pencil is good for sprite work.
Get familiar with each tool and each Filter, and try out a few combos, then try tutorials, so you won't get confused.

You know, the little 8 and 16 bit guys in old video games?
i know what they are now..but how do you create them?
also..anyone know how to make the brush tool look like pencil strokes?
Ummm…
You want it to look like a real pencil actually wrote on it or something?
why don't you try going to YouTube and write down photoshop tutorials in the search engine? you're bound to find some good ones :)

@gearsecond:yes.
@quote:Tried that.. it was done by tablet which I dont have and the most of the tutorials were in Russian or Spanish
The basics are a piece of cake, there are all sorts of websites on the internet with tips.
Ans ask people you know that might know something about photoshop. Maybe there's some class at your school you could take?
Use the brish tool, mess with the transperancy and the consitency, both on the top of the program when the brush is selected. If that isn't working right, then try messing with how hard or soft the brush is, just click the big circle with the arrow next to it, it brings a list of brushes, and a hard/soft bar you can play with.
The Pencil tool itself is like brush in MS Paint. The brush in Photoshop is what you want.
