I honestly thought Zeon and Faudo would be the finale for the series.
I need to get caught up on everything..
edit: am I the only one who really doesn't want Brago to be the "final boss"?

I think a lot of us thought Zeon was going to be the final boss (until he took over Faudo, I though Gash would face him in the final battle), but with Gash and his allies all surviving to the end of the arc and no previous count by Raiku until this moment, this last arc was pretty much needed so we can gather all the remaining Mamono (including those still around that didn't take part in the Faudo crisis) and force them into this final battle. It can't end until one remains…I guess.
Brago...well, he's been an interesting rival from the beginning, but I think Sheri's given him too much humility to have him be the final boss unless they are the last two left. Something tells me that whomever Raiku plans as this "ultimate evil" may be the last boss of the series.
About the last ten, in the last chapter we haven't seen Earth or Papipurio, so maybe one of these two or even both of them, have been send back in the demon between faudo end, and the annouce of the final part of the fight…
Oh yeah… Ashuron is the other member of that dragon family alluded to earlier, right? I believe he was mentioned by that gigantic, powerful dragon that Bari defeat (Eruzado or something like that).
@Cap'n:

Basically what happened was this: during the Bari/Kiees fight, Kiees mentions that there were a couple of rivalries that were brought to the Mamono fight: theirs, Gash/Zeon, and Elzador/Ashuron. Bari remembered Elzador because he sent him back, but we're just meeting Ashuron now.
As for Earth and Papipulio, I think that with so few Mamono still around after the fall of Faudo, they really didn't have to worry about being sent back. But stranger things have happened…my maximum amount of Mamono still being around post-Faudo was 13, but with Brago getting rid of one on-screen, there could be four unknowns max. But I still have a feeling those two made it.
I think that if they were sent back, we'd know about it.
edit: Oh yeah, anyway one where I can get scans for the chapters were Barry fought Kies? I'd love to read that again.
Some interesting concepts brought up by the latest chapter:
! Apparantly whoever wins the Mamono fight is not only the king, but can literally play God with the entire Makai. Whoever this winner wants to keep lives while whoever they don't dies/dissapears forever. Some interesting implications with that idea: while its sort of obvious that "the one that wants to destroy everything" will probably eliminate everyone with that power, I do wonder whether Gash would "save everyone" or keep most but not all. (I can't really see him giving Zophis or Riou a second chance…but he may just since all that happened between him and Zeon) Oh...and there's this big beetle that's targeting Earth...guess there's no tournament after all.
I'm a bit confused about Riou..
! So basically, he wanted to awaken Faudo, but when he did, Zeon came, killed him, and took over?
@Cap'n:

! Basically, Riou's father (could be his father or just an elder from a similar family) sent Faudo to the human world to help the lion-centaur in his own quest to become king. The problem is that since Faudo was sealed, he had to partake in that immense plan of recruiting and brainwashing to unleash the giant. It was with all of the other powers that Faudo could be unlocked…but since Riou had the control gem, he was the only one who could use it. In other words: he planned to cheat using this outside force to win for him, even threatening to destroy entire countries for those that went against him (thus since Kyomaro and Gash were making it hard for him, he decided to use Japan as their first stop on their rampage) But when Zeon came along, I think he just decided to continue what Riou started, but had a greater knowledge of the Faudo schematic and usage since he was able to power up the guardians and those that pledged allegiance to him with the "Godufa" spell.
OK, what's the deal with Earth? I know he had a run in with Ted and Gash a while back, but they all came out of it alive, so I assume he isn't particularly malicious or bad… so is he just kind of neutral-ish?
Oh yeah... when Ataru said a "beetle was targetting Earth," I thought he meant the planet, and I pictured a giant beetle flying towards the planet.
OK, new chatper's out. Ataru seems to be running late so I'll give a bit of a synopsis.
Basically Elly has some kind of chronic respitory disorder she needs surgery for. Earth tells her to go get the surgery, and he'll just take his book and run. Elly says there's no way that could work.
The Beetleman warps into the room using some kind of portal. Elly and Earth make a run for it, but the beetle catches up. Earth tries to use a spell (the giant sword one), but then the Beetle's book keeper appears. She calls herself Mir and the beetle is named Goomu. They cast a spell that causes Earth's to ball up and be crushed.
Earth tries closerange fighting, but Goomu is too strong. Elly starts to have problems (probably from her disease). Earth pleads with them to postpone the battle because Elly is sick. Mir basically calls them both idiots and starts to cast a really big spell. Goomu makes an energyball that expands and looks like a giant katamari, and rolls it towards the two. The chapter ends with Earth blocking Elly from the blast.
I'm a little disappointed because it seems that Goomu is apparently pretty simple minded(like an insect) and doesn't seem to have much personality. He's still pretty badass and could be a favorite of mine. Mir is pretty cute, and I find her to be pretty funny.
It looks like Goomu's powers revolve (har) around circles.
Didn't know we needed weekly updates for this. But personally, I love Mir being the first really bratty human female in the series. (someone equated her as a fusion of Pati and Roopa) Gomu…well, he's a giant bug with energy fields. And as for Elly...sort of shocked she's pretty much dying and that Faudo just aggrevated her own weakness. Hopefully next week will continue this thread...and hopefully we'll meet the last Mamono soon as well.
Well you usually do the updates for this and Bo-bobo… so yeah.
For some reason I really like Goomu so far. I hope he ends up talking a bit more though.
Are you one of the members of the Konjiki LJ community?
Yeah, I'm on Konjiki. Usually Chao finds the chapters and puts them up, but I do it if it hasn't been done. Currently I'm also trying to create a new Wiki page for the Mamono fight in general to get a bit more into some of the specifics for novices without spoiling too much. (mostly I find something that I think needs a Wiki page and make it…also did one for the Pactio system for Negima so the Mamono fight shouldn't be too hard)
As for Bo-bobo...the only reason I update that is no one else really wants to. Then again, I love the series so why not.
I don't think anyone else who's interested understands, either.
Alright, at Katsucon I bought Gash volume 25, because it has one of my favorite battles, which happens to be between my two favorite characters: Bari and Kiees.
Here's the cover and the back:
The Bari/Kiees fight is just a great fight…too bad Bari doesn't go on beyond that.
Oh, didn't mention what happened this week yet in the chapter:
! Most of the chapter was pretty much BG on Elly and Earth, with the little girl pretty much found with two years to live with her respitory disease, and some parallels between her situation and Earth's situation in the Mamono fight. Meanwhile, Mir seems to be an advisor like Ashuron on the "ultimate evil Mamono", but who knows anymore who that is. Oh, and Earth's ultimate spell is read (but not revealed) at the end of the chapter.
I have some spoilers from the new chapter
!
Awesome attack
Poor Earth :( he lost
This is so sad i don't want to see Elly crying ;-; this remines me of Little Robin's past ;-;
Those aren't really spoilers, the chapter is out already.

Do'h i forgot that Shonen Sunday comes out on Sunday pluse the thread hasn't been posted since 6 days ago
Pretty sad to see
! Earth leave like that. =( Why could it have just been midget prince mamono XD?!
I lol'd.

Hopefully Papipulio goes back…but something tells me there will be some super joke where Gash and the final enemy double KO each other...and Papipulio becomes the next king of the Makai. As for who he would keep as king...well Zoboron and Rodeaux are the first to come to mind.
As for this chapter...very, very sad. Though if there's no tournament, its more now about waiting for the enemy to come to you...
Hopefully Papipulio goes back
Yeah, its as if Makoto's keeping the weaker mamono in to make things more interesting.
Well, half of the "weaker" mamono are popular characters who're friends with Gash..
I wonder if Tio, Kanchome, and Umagon will end up committing collective suicide in order to have Gash win. That'd be kind of funny.

Personally I wish they would get to the point where one of "the big four" ends up having to face one another, but sadly they're so well established by now that I don't know if Raiku could go through with it. Thus why we have Ashuron, Goomu and..whoever the last one is. (not to mention Brago is still out there and he wants one more match with Gash)
We got our new chapter this week with some new info:
! Gash and Kyomaro go to Finland to look after Elie after Earth was sent back, and she starts going on a rant about wanting them to stop Goomu and "the ultimate evil" so Gash will be king. After assuring her that they will, Ashuron and Riin return, having felt the power there and revealing the name of the "ultimate evil": Clear Note. Meanwhile, they sense the dimensional movement of Goomu towards France (guess which Mamono lives there)…but with someone else. And, as we see Brago and Sheri watch Goomu appear...out comes a bishonen (why can't it be another weirdo, Raiku!?) who goes by the name of Clear Note.
! The best thing is that they finally revealed the last character in the series (probably the Mamono, but who knows it may be the human) and up the ante considering how he's using Goomu. Personally rather wish that we had another weirdo (since that's what I like about Raiku's world), but we'll see how this turns out.
Damn, I wish Zeon had stayed the main antagonist. D: This new guy looks really boring.
@Geg:

Zeon no longer had a purpose. His anger was against things beyond Gash's control and he finally understood that everything he had done regarding his hatred over his twin brother having Baou was for nothing. Now that he's redeemed, he really doesn't seem as evil anymore and thus no longer can be seen as an enemy.
Wow… I'm honestly hoping that guy's just the book keeper, otherwise it looks like the final evil mamono villain hopped right out of Gravitation.

Me too…but so far its all pointing to him being the final Mamono. Sadly, with my love of the weird designs Raiku uses, I'm really dissapointed that the final enemy looks like, as I called him elsewhere, "Wonlei's evil twin". (never really liked him...Li Yen I do but I hate her dub VA)
The chapter sisn't out yet, but a blog that covers the manga occasionally found a spoiler for this week.
! Last week, it was revealed that the “ultimate evil” mamono’s name is Clear Note. Together with Gom, another mamono who can control spacetime, they appear before Brago and Sherry. Although Mil (Gom’s partner) did mention before that they were on Clear’s side, she seems visibly afraid of him. Brago proceeds to attack Clear using Gigano Reizu, but that gets stopped with two fingers o_o;;
! Sherry directs Brago to jump and suddenly, Clear appears behind them with Sherry’s sceptre in his hand. Brago proceeds to throw continuous hits but Clear Note easily blocks them. Brago then uses Rioru Reizu at Clear but he avoids it. However, the last two hits managed to hit Clear’s hand and stomach, and Clear is blown back. Brago follows up with a Gigano Reizu, then Baberuga Graviton, and the ground caves in.
! Then someone shouts “Supurifo!!” and it seems the area around Clear is unaffected. Brago realizes that his spell does not affect the area around Clear. Clear Note’s partner, Vino, a baby-ish looking child, makes his apperance. Vino calls out “Radisu!” and balls(?) of light hits Brago’s arm and leg, severely damaging them.
! The view switches back to Finland where Ashuron is now in his real appearance. The chapter ends with Ashuron telling Kiyomaro to “…give up on Brago. It’s already too late.”
! Credit for finding the spoiler and typing that summary goes entirely to http://melz.org/.
It isn't confirmed whether it's true or false yet, but it sounds pretty plausible to me.
Oh crap! Brago's next, he's next! And what Ashuron said makes it more likely.
And the Ultimate Evil's name is Clear Note you say? Interesting but a little awkward but that Space Time control thing of his looks awesome.
(Avoids all spoilers) Meh, makes me wonder where the raw is by now…but there's been a lot of raw problems lately.
Edit: Never mind...Ritual finally got it up.
Not really a fan of these "show how powerful the final enemy" chapters are…but the baby thing just threw me for a loop! My wonder though is what will happen with Ashuron and Gash if they go after Clear now...particularly if he defeats Brago, then just uses Goomu's dimensional abilities to go after someone else (like, say, Tio, Canchome or Umagon) before they get to France.

This makes me wonder…you´re the one who make the summaries in Konjiki´s livejournal?

It alternates in whoever finds the chapter first. Usually Chaootaku gets to it first, but if I find it, I do put it up to help the Konjiki community.
Oh shit, read the raw and the baby thing also threw me a bit. And props to Ashuron's dragon form ^__^
So my friend couldn't get IRC to work, and he asked me to grab Null's release of Volume 16 for him. While I was waiting for him to come back from being idle, I went ahead and read through the volume (even though I hadn't read Null's releases before), and man the Demolt fight was awesome. Robert Vile would've made a much cooler arc boss than Zophise did.
Oh, and Byonko's now one of my favorite demons.
And Alvin's definitely one of my top bookkeepers. So far I also like Gustav, Bern, Jed, and Mir.. actually I like a lot, but Alvin's definitely in the top three.
They also probably had the best backstory ever.
Also:
From the last chapter, looks like Brago is more or less out of here. I never liked him that much, but I have to admit I was impressed with some of the spells he used in this chapter.
Always like the Byonko/Alvin team. Particularly the tragicomic sequence that leads to how Byonko was blind to Zophis' true intentions and just wanted to have fun. (sort of leading Pati along for the ride) Besides, Alvin ruined the four-leaf clover on his head! :p
As for the latest chapter…I think Clear is as cheap as heck with his spell type, but it does look like its over for Brago. Then again, I wish I could say more but I'm exhausted after the huge discussion I had on Konjiki on why Clear hid away for so long if he had this type of spell pool.
Looks as if Brago's more than out of here XD Like vaporized.
I think Clear is as cheap as heck with his spell type
For some reason, it reminds me of an opposite version of Brago's spell motifs but heck.
Screw Burago. I hope Sherry's alright.
Is there a place other than Null to get this series?
Sorry for bumping this thread, but after the last couple weeks of chapters, I need to bring this up:
! Canchome's finally become closer to uber for one thing, gaining spells that literally gain mental control of a bookkeeper and can use their spells against them. And this week's chapter…well, somehow I think Chopper's Monster Point finally has a rival in the little duck-billed Mamono.
Kyanchome's going fucking crazy.
I have a bad feeling he's going to turn on Gash and the gang eventually.
I can imagine it now:
Canchome: They laughed at me, called me weak, say I can't be king. NOW WHO'S KING NOW!?!??! (roars)
I have the raw
!
HOLY FUCK! *goes to catch up with series
OH MY DEAR FUCKING GOD!
Kanchome's new ability is simply epic. Finally Raiku decided to give Kanchome the ultimate power up.
