Umm hiro could fight with his sword.
"ZA WARUDO!!" (let's just call it that for now :P)
Everything freezes and hiro goes and throws knives slashes the enemy.
Radiation could be a hell of a fight. One punch and he burns through the guy's defense. Also Nathan could sure as well fight. He took karate remember? At least thats what he said when he punched the guy.
Also I think that the scar on Matt's and Ted's back make it so they won't be killed by sylar's technique or something like that. Maybe clarie's father did that, and the only way to do that is activate the black guy's powers (if he has any).

You're talking about "The Haitian", right? He seems to have mind-wipe powers at the very least. There may be more to it since Matt couldn't read his mind.
If you're watching this show JUST to see badass superhero fighting, you may be barking up the wrong tree. This show is all about slow burn. It may drive some people nuts, but it's going to be even more awesome when everything explodes at a powerful climax which may very well be next week. And the explosion hasn't even happened yet! I can't wait!
Ya think we'll ever get some badass superhero fighting tho? I love the show and all, but a little superhero asskicking never hurt anyone. I wanna see the characters really let loose.
This show is hardly slow.. next week is the first arcs finale, and in 2 weeks we get a flashback of 6 months ago aka answers. Just out of curiosity, do the people that think this show is slow, think that Lost and other shows of this genre are fast? Because Heroes works completely the opposite of Lost, small arcs, and answers at the end of those arcs (just like comic books), Lost on the other hand piles up questions and it will hopefully answer them all at once (but will likely ignore/forget most of the minor ones which fans care about).
OH, how stupid of me. I thought the entire series was gonna be based on saving the cheerleader. That's awesome that this was just one arc, I must say I like the format of Heroes. You are correct Refii, that's just like a comic book.
I'd make a comment on the whole Lost comparison, but I 've never watched the series, nor do I plan to.
No I don't think this show is slow, though I kinda do hope they're some fights once in a while.
Who really have fighting powers besides nikki? I guess DL messed her up nicely cause he applied his nicely. But who else besides the radiation, nikki and DL? Well there is the cheerleader. Nevermind, ok they all can fight in many ways.
They need to develop there powers better.
GO CLAIRE GO!!!!!!!!
god that kicked ass
Hiro's actor is going to be on Conan tonight. Sweet.
Halfway into the episode, it's not looking good for business…wish they would speed a few things up though.
Seems as though the only people that will be there to help Claire at the moment are...
! Peter and Eden
HRG said there would be help? But who? The Haitian?
Holy Fucking Awsome Batman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
O. M. G.
My heart was racing..
Ok so it looks like Peter will be saved because he was near Clair, but then why didn't syler use telekinisis to fly when they fell? And if Peter was near Syler shouldn't he have used Telekinisis? Unless he can only use one power at a time, in which case that was kind of a cheap death for Syler.
GAAAAY GAAAAAY GAAAY
I hate magneto
If you saw the rest of the episode, he lived, and will appear next episode, revealing himself.
100 quid saying that he's Peter from the future.
This was a GREAT episode.
! So Sylar has been captured, and DL got shot.
! The Hatian has a ability to put people to sleep.
! And the bitchy stuck-up cherrleader is dead!
! Preview shows the next episode will be a flashback.
! The only thing I could see is that Jessica Sanders is DEAD.
! So can Niki summon spirts or something?!
The Haitian put him to sleep
Eden has the powers of persuasion
NOOOOO! Too many cliffhangers!
SPOILERS AHEAD (mostly because I can't use Spoiler Tags)
Will D.L. Live?
Will Mohinder fulfill his destiny?
Will Hiro be able to save Charlie?
What will happen to Peter now that he's in Police Custody?
What is Claire going to tell her father?
What are Eden and the Haitian planning with Sylar?
These will be answered… two episodes from now.
and from the preview...
Who is Sylar?
Is Jessica dead?
What does Chandra Suresh want with Claire?
Have they finally stopped saying "Save the Cheerleader Save the World?"
All these questions will be answered... next week.
Wow…I'm slightly disappointed. Considering the way they've been hyping it to death since episode 4. No revelations really that someone with half a brain could have figured out.
! Big bad Sylar's attempt is denied rather easily by Peter charged with Claire's powers. Eden and the Haitian take out Sylar and captured him with ease. Peter is arrested after the event. Mohinder decides to head back to the USA with his father's list of "heroes". The episode ends with Jessica seemingly shooting DL with a sniper rifle.
Next week, Sylar's identity is revealed(?) among other things as they show what happened six months ago.
This episode really knocked my opinion of the show a grade. I know that's a bit drastic, but they better have something good next week.
What will happen to Peter now that he's in Police Custody?
well all the blood on him was his own so they have nothing to hold him on
The Haitian put him to sleep
Eden has the powers of persuasion
You're right, my mistake. Post corrected.
Edens power of persuasion should have put him to sleep.
The Haitian guy just grabbed him from behind and covered his nose and mouth which put him to sleep, that's not his power.
This show dropped a grade with me too considering Syler is most likely joining magnetos band of mutants right after he attempts to kill his daughter rolls eyes absolute rubbish.
The Haitian's power is to wipe people's memories which was confirmed when he did a total mindwipe on the football player after that car accident. He can cause people to 'black out' which is probably what he did to Sylar as he did to Matt in an earlier episode.
Dont assume that. Sylar is either going to get his memory erased or he is going to die.
Claire kicks ass. And jessica, I hope she dies AGAIN. lol
I have to say Sylar has the best pratical use of telekenesis I've ever seen
using it to literally push the skin and bone in a small radius away to cap a person…....
but seriously, the only way he could of killed Claire was to remove her brain and smash it. So, that makes sense.
So peter is pretty much Jean Grae? lol
Peter is more like Rouge
Slyar is Jean
Yeah thats what I meant, I got confused. Jean Grae was the phoenix.
Rogue also developed powers when she was alone. What did she do to do that? I forgot.
I'm lukewarm about tonight's episode. It was promoted as a big event and turning point for the story but turned out to be rather anti-climatic. Though I like the fact that they avoid story cliches such as Claire's best friend turning out to be gay, instead of becoming her boyfriend.
Tonight's episode hasn't started yet, but let me say that I will be immensely disappointed if…
! Sylar turns out to Peter (from the future or something even more convoluted)
Edit: Man, this episode already beats the pants off last week.
omfg! THERE IS A THREAD ABOUT HEROES HERE! Dammit! i should have known earlier…XD....so, is everybody psyched about todays episode?
lots of o m g moments already :] I knew this would be an awesome episode.
Damn that episode was good. It answered alot of questions.
Sylar? WTF? He didnt have any powers. He was just jealous and stoled other people powers because of something on there brain. That was crazy. He operated on there brains like a watch. I didnt see that coming.
Great episode but the scariest part of the episode was the promo for next week "The last episode until the new year" Gasp!!!!
Sylar didn't have powers, yet he acquired the telekinesis from Gary, his first kill. Did he take out his brain and eat it? Is that how he acquire other people's powers?
lol. No I doubt that he ate the brain. I have it on tivo. He was talking to the doctor about the special gene the brain has. And you also notice he was extrememly good at working on watches. He killed the guy took his gene and put it in his own brain.
He probably have the powers of everybody he killed so far.
From my understanding, he did have a power. It was "knowing how things work." That's how he was able to fix the watches easily. It's how he was able to finish the watch he was working on for 7 years. With that power, he understood where the powers of others resided and figured out how to take them.
yep thats what it looks like, good episode for one mostly flashback.
There is still no connection with Sylar and clairs father yet it seems. (uh that wasnt a spoiler since its a theory?)
@OP:
"The last episode until the new year"
Thank you for ruining the next few weeks. Just kidding.
Damn that sucks. I want more Heroes. This episode was so good and so sad at the same time. Hiro fell in love and got it snatched away. tear
@gilrules2000:

Don't worry, Hiro knows that we all love him. But I hate to see him getting all sad.
Also, Sylar's got issues (attitude, perspective, etc etc)
That episode made no sense to me..
I can semi buy Syler can look at a persons brain and figure out the mutation, but how can he operate on his own brain to mutate it? I hardly think he eats people's brains (cause that would be a stupid power) but I imagine there is some kind of altering on his own brain going on, which is impossible.. you can't operate on yourself like that!
But what was the point of Hiro's journey if he didn't even get a damn kiss, I was expecting he'd at the very least come back as a samurai. Also, it's B.S. what he said at the end of the episode, if he can't change the past, then why did he contact Peter? He shouldn't be able to tell Peter "be the one" etc.. ARG, better than last week, but that's only because the story hasn't advanced much and Syler hasn't joined HRG man yet.
Well that's why I asked if he ate their brains. I know his power is to "fix" things but I'm trying to figure out by what method he absorbs his victims' powers. He cuts out their brains, then removes the genes and then some how absorbs it without cutting himself open. I guess we'll see next week.
I loved this episode. Not much happened plot-wise, but I absolutely loved all of the character development. I feel like I know all the characters a lot better now.
My one complaint about the entire show altogether is that Matt's mind-reading is hard to hear sometimes. Can somebody tell me what he read from his wife's mind at the end of the episode? Replaying the tape isn't helping.
I just got next week's TV Guide in the mail today, and there was an article with Tim Kring about Heroes. We're informed about Hiro and his sword, and given hints about the death. We're told:
! that the character who dies definately HAS superpowers, ruling out Mohinder, Simone, Ando and the like. Also, it's mentioned that, due to time travel, flashbacks, and the like, death won't be the last appearance of whatever character it is that dies. Kring also mentioned that original ideas had several characters biting the bullet, but each character was so strong and liked that he toned it down.
personally I hope it's Issac who dies, as he's truly the only Hero I could bear to lose at this point. He's a plot device hidden behind a cliche drug addictoin, IMO. He's the only one who doesn't feel like a true character to me, hence the only one I don't care about. Any other character dying is a huge impact, to me at least, which is why I'm worried and yet still excited for the next episode!
Possible ideas about Peter's powers: Twice now Peter has had special dreams, first
! in the flashback where he witnessed Nathan's accident and then later when Simone's father died. I have two ideas here.
1. A hero with precognitave abilities lives in his apartment building? Considering Issac's abilities, I doubt it.
2 (though I doubt it's true I'll spoiler it anyway simply cause it's speculation):
! While it cannot be disputed that Peter steals other's abilities, perhaps it is not his main power? Somebody on another forum made a post simply saying "Peter is an empath", and perhaps it isn't too far off from the truth. Nathan's wife was even talking about how caring and empathic Peter is. Perhaps Peter's empathic abilities cause the dreams with those he's close too–but then also allow him to absorb emotions or similar aspects of those around him--such as their abilities if they have them.
It's rough but I think it could be possibly true. Just when I thought Peter's powers finally had become cut and dry they get hazy again. Awesome. At least we're not as in the dark with them as we are Niki/Jessica's, though I'm loving seeing the clues dropped little by little.
I have no idea how Silar is gaining powers from their brains, but I'm sure it will be revealed soon. It was obscured for a reason. It's one twist too confusing–no doubt--for me to try to guess.
This is by far my favorite show.
Also, just thought I'd mention that I watched Austin Powers: Goldmember the other day, and Masi Oka (Hiro) makes a quick speaking cameo. I stood up and yelled "HIRO!" before I realized it, and everybody in the room was staring at me. :( Also, though I didn't notice him, Greg Grunberg (Matt) was credited as an extra somewhere in the movie.
Oh, and it anybody's interested, the TV Guide also revealed that the new hero's/cast member's power is
! invisibility. I shouldn't read the stupid spoilers, but I can't help it. As long as things like death aren't spoiled I'm cool.

I think either his mom is an empath, or Peter has 2 powers.
I agree about Isaac being the only character I wouldn't mind seeing die, to be honest though I would prefer if Nathan died; however Nathans power of flight is too important for him to die so meh.
The creator wanted to kill off a majority of the characters? What the hell? So he didn't have a long term plan for the show? … Hopefully he figures something out, no wonder the writing suffered the last couple of weeks.
Refi: failure was the point of his journey failure. Also he feel in love and she was dying anyway and it made her last days enjoyable.
I like the one explanation somebody gave about sylar. He has the powers to fix things. So after the dr. told him where the powers come from. Than he would be able to fix the powers to himself from surgery. He probably has a high pain treshold and huge mirror to work on his own brain. With his powers, he can work out anything.
A high pain threshold has nothing to do with it, a person can't do brain surgery on their own brain period. It's impossible, or at least impossible unless you have tiny mechanical surgical equipment at your disposal, which takes years of training and specialization to learn how to use and only certain hospitals around the world have them. Still even that's impossible, because mechanical surgical equipment always has the monitor in another room so the surgeon won't be distracted.
I'm gonna like next episode because from the previews has
Sylar going Bat-fucking-insane.
and the Homage to chapter 5 of Watchmen was awsome
Today on scifi channel the first 6 episodes of heroes at 5c/6p
wow, this series has really taken off. I am glad i got on it right from the bat. (just like with smallville. Hurry for nerdiness!)
Sylar seems like a villian that is villianous for the sake of it. Hopefully he has a better reason than "I am not important. Why dont i take powers?"
Didn't Sylar say to Chandra that he couldn't stop the hunger? So my guess is he does eat the brains of his victims.
