I don't have a Mac, but I'm really familar with Final Cut.
Set sail for Dub Piece!
-
-
So for a Dub Piece commentary track, if you do decide to record one featuring the cast, just remember the fundimentals of the recording.
1. State your name and what you did in the project. (Not nessisary, but helpful to listeners)
2. Wear headphones while recording the commentary, I can always put in the actual episode audio in the background of the track VIA Vegas or Sound Forge.
3. That's about it… go nuts!I'm really looking forward to being involved with the Dub Piece DVD project. With that said, any ideas for a jacket design?
-
Well, for video and audio on Windows XP software, I was thinking Sony Vegas for main video stuff, and DVD Architect for acutal DVD rendering (with multiple audio, since the official site says it has that capability).
EDIT: Plus, with DVD Architect 4 and Vegas 7 I can create chapter markers to put on the DVD for quick scene accessability.
EDIT2: YES! It is confirmed, I CAN create the DVD to have multiple audio tracks in DVD Architect. I can put in as many tracks as you'd like. Dragon Warrior, I am now your hero.
Also, I've played around with iDVD and iMovie HD, and iMovie HD is sort of like the Mac version of Windows Movie Maker, kind of useless, and with almost zero features. As for iDVD, it's okay, but nowhere near professional. If you want the professional stuff, you really need to get something like Final Cut.
OK sir, you win.
Still, I think it would be cool if we work together - one person handling audio mastering, another doing DVD work, and That's What She Said monitoring it all.
-
Oh for serious.
I was also thinking though, what if we were to re-render the audio in 5.1 surround sound? Just go massively excessive on the Dub Piece DVDs. It wouldn't be that hard if That's What She Said kept all of the original audio files, but if they didn't, I could always try to create a faux 5.1 surround with the given audio, since microphones only record in mono sound anyways.
-
I'm kind of confused on who is doing what and why. If Unknownfile is making a DVD, how am I getting access to it. How are you two combining two programs, cause I have no idea in hell what is going on right now.
-
Well, the whole thing doesn't seem quite resolved yet, but from what I have gathered Unknownfile could do the auido work, since I really am not that good at it, and I could compile all of that onto one easy to use DVD iso file. (Complete with menus, sound, remastered video, remastered audio, commentary, and the likes)
And from earlier on in the thread, I noticed Unknownfile tried to re-master episode 2's video with the WS source, so we could probably use that (although when put on the DVD, the pixels will stretch like crap, and that's providing that Unknownfile still has the file, since the link expired).
As for how you would get the DVD, I could try to create a torrent for it, although I'd have to directly seed it for quite a while since I have no server of my own.
-
Because this conversation is becoming a bit too encumbersome, I recommend that we open an IRC channel for this discussion.
Also, Dub Piece 2 WS is at http://unknown.hcs64.com/thatswhatshesaid/download , but you need a password to get in.
-
And unfortunately, I wouldn't want that torrent open to the public.
-
An IRC channel sounds good to me. #DubPiece sound good?
And as for the DVD file, there's always the secondary option of rapidshare or megaupload. But at the moment I can't think of any other way to get such a massive file to you.
-
#DubPiece… don't sound good to me. I say #thatswhatshesaid.
-
I'm fine with whatever works for you, I honestly don't care, but once we do set up an IRC channel, I am thinking I will delete this and my previous post, because to me I think it's spam posting and I don't really feel like clogging the boards with it.
Oh, and as for the server, irc.rizon.net is what we should use. I'm too lazy to try to switch it over to anything else right now.
-
Haha, i love how no matter what happens this shit is getting thrown on a DVD and everyone is going to have access to it xD!
Do you guys have Lightscribe? man i wish i did… that'd be fucking awsome.
Hopefully i can get steve hooked up to some iDVD stuff, i know he's used it before.
Re: UKFile, holy shit! some of that stuff i'm not 100% sure how to do.... but i'll figure it out, i hope... i only have an 80GB HDD, i may get a new one before i try any of this.
I'm assuming a 2.4 GHz pentium 4 will suffice, even if a tad low.
Ah and my main question, I do not have a widescreen monitor, will it change anything?
-
Hey, Love the series
but the lack of 4chan humor, or "CHARGIN LAZERS" makes me sad =(
If you ever EVER slip in a "DESU DESU DESU" or a "SHOOP DA WOOP"I will personally Give you a…
cookie -
DP Lucci is wonderful already.
And… What's this about the girls' voices sounding not girly enough/fappably girly? I thought they were supposed to sound unconvincing and somewhat baked.
-
OT: I personally find the chargin' lazer thing not funny. Not that I'm offended by it, I just think it's retarded.
And zerocustom, I don't think it matters what kind of monitor you have, unless the episodes themselves were in widescreen, right?
-

I think its retarded aswell
but Retarded=Hilarious for somemeh, different courses for different horses

Well the reason i ask is, all mac screens are wide. Their TV's Monitor's and laptop, i think….
Just wondering if a standard monitor would be unsupported.
-
This 19" Sharp works nicely in Mac OS X… It's a standard monitor. However, something else could be said for the nvidia card >_>
I guess it depends on your video card and monitor, if it detects it. Oh, check your PM...
BACK ON TOPIC:
I am still waiting for Episode 6. After this, then season 1 is fully uploaded and maybe a torrent will find its way onto TPB
-
I can't wait to download the full version of Episode 6, it's the only episode (minus the Fake Piece episode) that I don't have on my iPod yet.
-
Guys. Like Dragon Warrior said, we really don't want an .iso to go to public distribution and we would really like a torrent of it even less. I don't think this is a good idea at all.
-
I dont think Steve is too psyched about making the files and isos available to everyone.
It COULD pose problems. "blah blah blah money" Yea, even though we all know how much 4 kids doesnt care about money it's like….
It's like someone telling making you immortal, then you take a bullet to the spine and your paralyzed for eternity because u werent invulnerable.
I think we're jumpin in front of bullets here w/ a public distribution.
-
Then why dont you limit the distribution to just AP? That way it is not widespread.
-
As awesome as your Fred Fredburger avatar is, I have to disagree.
Yes.
-

Two things, first, a publically distributed iso file would not actually cost money, it would be a free download for anyone. Secondly, Dub Piece is technically a parody, therefore, it is technically legal to distribute. Besides, distributing a DVD iso would be no less legal than distributing the wmv files.

Actually, Throes, whether a profit - or any money at all - is gained or not, the public distribution is still illegal. Second, a general, LEGAL parody is a derivative work whereas Dub Piece is a direct parodic fandub. Not quite a Weird Al polka mix, not quite a direct fansub.
-
I'm slightly lost here. What's the problem all of a sudden with the current method of viewing/distributing DP that makes people want to make DVDs and all that? I think that y'all should just stick with doing what you're doing until something prevents you from doing so, unless there's a damn good reason for going through all of this trouble.
-
Either way, I was going to make DVD's for the cast and a our close friends, but now it seems I'm not the only one who wanted to do that.
-

/agree
and I'm gonna say some other stuff because yeah 16 characters

True, which is why I also made the argument that the wmv episodes are already being distributed. A iso file that has been put together by fans is no less legal. Besides, the Evangelion ReDeath fandub parody used Evangelion clips in a parodic manner, and that's been around for quite some time now, since the days of VHS fansubs (which is where they got the source from). And ADV, which has a history of being very aggressive twards illegal distrobution of their properties has done nothing to the creators of the Evangelion ReDeath fandub parody.
-
You know, I was interested in what the outcome of that fandub was. I had no idea ADV didn't even lift a finger.
But as for the wmv files, it's private, but personally, I still don't really like the idea of sharing the source file. I'm even a little jumpy about YouTube with recent goings-on. I just approve of the DVD a little less. :P
-
Nope, ADV didn't do squat, and they still continue to show it at cons. Also, they created a second version called "ReDux" USING ADV's officially released DVDs, and still ADV does nothing.
-
Curious. Well, fansubbing really brought a lot of ADV's properties to light anyway.
I still don't feel comfortable about distributing files anyway. :P
-
Makes you wonder, no? Anyway, the DVD cover is a work in progress right now for me atleast.
-
Sweet DW, can't wait to see it completed.
Also, I was thinking, the only companies that really could do anything would be 4kids or Toei, and since neither have done anything to the countless fansubs that are being extensively distributed, I wouldn't worry about your tinly little insignificant fandub parody series.
(It's insignificant to the big-time companies, us fans love it)
Basically, K-F has a bigger chance of getting sued than you do, besides, if a company want's you to stop, they send you a C&D letter before you get sued.
-
I think we have a slight chance because our names are on it, but once again we're "insignificant" comparing to KF.
-

Which is a pretty big point. But even the Studio Sokodei (creators of ReDeath) put their names in their credits, and still, nothing. You guys pretty much created a fandub parody similar to theirs, but they basically used the entire Evangelion series since it was so short, you guys are using pretty much whole episodes, but they are still 99% the same. I honestly wouldn't worry about anything.
-

not me bitch!
-
Sorry, I spaced on it but what is that song again? I think you guys use it a lot, for example it played when the "PUNK'D" sign rolled on during the last video.
-
That would be Baltimora - Tarzan Boy
-
a.k.a the Gayfuel song
-
Oh.
And for the record?
SHOOP DA WOOP
-
Any news on when ep 6 will be for dowloads? I've been showing my pals at school the dub piece eps (1 to 5) and let me say, they're getting a kick out of them…
any chance Fake Piece and Doug the dub eps can also be up for downloads too?
Sorry to be annoying with me constantly asking, but I'm just curious...
-
Well, that was a good song. Sad to hear the dude passed on.
-
LOL! Funny moments it was alrite

When Steve uploads them.
@Marcwoman2020:

Likeliness of Doug the Dub: 100%
Likeliness of Fake Piece, which sucks: 50% -
Unknown, I am the only one who will notice the joke in your post, and I barely saw it.
-
:wassat:….
Yeah, you're gonna have to point it out....
Does it have something to do with what he said about Doug and Fake Piece?
-
When Steve uploads them.
Likeliness of Doug the Dub: 100%
Likeliness of Fake Piece, which sucks: 50%Alright! and I don't care what any one says, I love Fake Piece >.> It was my favorite of all the dub piece eps (well, next to episode 6 anyway)
-
Unknown, I am the only one who will notice the joke in your post, and I barely saw it.
LOL! i totally just caught that.
-
Huh? I think I'm lost…
