Although now that I think of it, it would be a better plotted death then the one of a character named Asuma

Come on Usopp did more then Sakura so far

Usopp - Invented Nami's weapon, repaired Merry (not really good but he managed to get it to Water 7) he learned how to use dials, he became Sogeking to help, he was great stamina and could eventually be a great fighter if he surpasses his cowardness also he fights minor enemies without help (sure he can't take the big shots but still he does what a normal character can do)

Sakura - Learned Medicine Jutsu from Tsunade saved a couple of lifes, was a puppet of Chiyo in the fight agaisnt Sasori (okay she did some effort but in the end without Chiyo she would be dead)

I'm my view Usopp seems better

And Naruto the main character really needs an upgrade in technics he only knows 2 technics and is trying to learn a new (hope he learns how to fuse Rasengan and Wind), he seems to be a lame main character

Naruto took a break this week let's hope Kishimoto gets hit hard in the head with some good ideas

Just something I came up that would definetively suprise people

I think with would be a great plan to make Akatsuki do all that they are doing so in the end they could become good guys

Something like after being able to gather all tailed demons Akatsuki finally is capable of summoning the Good of Mercy that grants them a clean sheet from all their sins and so they become good guys and go around helping needed people

No kidding? Usopp is the "do nothing" character of One Piece, but in comparison to many other major characters who get shoved aside he's still accomplished a fudgeload more in one single arc that Sakura has in the entire Naruto series.

Remember the last "do nothing" character, Vivi? She managed to beat up Mr. 7/Ms. Father's Day and stop Croc's bomb from killing everyone. She also ran around and tried to get the Rebel Army to stop, confronting Croc two times in situatious where she would almost certainly have gotten killed (fairly easily, I might add).

No kidding. That must be a record for a shonen hero. Let's not add insult to injury and compare Naruto's rehashed couple of skillz to Luffy's attacks.

As for Usopp, as much as I find him useless he's the goddamn Savior compared to most of the cast in Naruto.

umm, well I said the most impressive fight I seen in Naruto, so the other mangas i read didnt matter because i didnt compare it with anything else but Naruto fights.

Well Naruto's popularity is another thing in general, most fans on narutofan.com dont even like the main character, most just have there own favorite side characters. I dont care much for him either, I liked him at first.

Naruto the series, from the beginning till Sarutobi's funeral, was an excellent series. It has declined alot since then. I always stated how I wish Kishie gave the series to somebody else and let them finish it because the story had potential and still does.

One Piece is my favorite series, I dont get why I am considered a Naruto crazy fan on this site. I read worse mangas than Naruto. Naruto use to be excellent now its just average with potential.

Edit: Also the show is called Naruto but he only had few fights compared to all the other fights in the series. One good thing about Kishie, he was good at making side characters but sucks with main characters. He make all these different jutsus for other characters to have like Kakashi or Sasuke but Naruto he gives him 2.

I don't remember who said it, or if it was even someone on AP, but they said "Naruto the character is like Naruto the series, it has near infinite potential, but fails miserably to fulfill this potential." Or something along those lines.

I still like the Naruto series. But nonetheless these are some fair statements about the series. I admit that the series is severely lacking right now (especially in comparison to what OP just did).

What would make it 10x better is if Kishi made Naruto (character) truly develop (AKA more than two moves) and make other characters not be so useless. As for the story, I'm not expecting so deep Shakespearean masterpiece(it's shonen afterall)

But I wish Kish would put as much effort into story as he puts into his fights. If he could at least accomplish the first 2, I'd be satisfied. Sometime just the smallest changes can help a lot.

The whole manga reeks of lack of ideas. Naruto is the worst exemple of a series that should have ended ages ago but was kept under artificial breathing by Shueisha editors because it's a commercial success. I mean just look at the art… The art ffs!

Personally I'd love to see what Oda could do with the Naruto characters.

In defense, I'll just say that Usopp wasn't a "do nothing" character until the latest arc. Before that he was a weaker fighter. And that depends on how you define "do nothing," which I guess means fighting. However, I'd compare Usopp more to Lee then Sakura. Yes, think about it, you know it's true.

As for Naruto's technique, Naurto technically has a bunch of unnamed ones. He has all those ninja weapons and clone combos for one. But more then that, he has his Kyuubi, which spawns several weird moves, like a surrounding chakra force (vs. Neji), a freaking hand (Sasuke), and rapid regeneration. Really, I don't think Naruto needs new techniques cause…look how long it takes him to learn each one. This new one better be pretty damn versatile.

Also, when people say that Naruto has potential to be a great series...isn't it a little late for that? The series may be half way through or something.

dont blame it on the editors, kishie just failed and continues to do so. He had a good idea and didnt know how to finish it. He has interesting characters but doesnt know how to make his main character interesting? Naruto is the weakest main character, I have ever seen. He has not developed mentally as he should have. The time skip was the perfect oppurtunity to develop Naruto in a better overall character but he made him almost the same. He didnt have to be a powerhouse, but some mental and battle growth would have been nice.

Sasuke seems like a total different person the few chapters we seen him.

C'mon, I'm a big fan of Naruto but even I can't deny that Naruto need more moves. 2 moves is unbecoming of a main character, what did he do in those 3 years?Sleep.

Hopefully Kishi will address this issue with Naruto's wind jutsu (I seriously doubt it, but I hope he does). I want Naruto to improve but it probably ain't gonna happen even with his supposed new wind jutsu.

It is not 2 late for Naruto, it was a great series 200+ chapters. 80 chapters of garbage except for the Kakashi Gaiden shouldnt ruin a series if the next 80 chapters are once againt high level stuff.

I pray to Enel to help Kishi do it because I really like his series & characters. Nothing worse than seeing a man waste his potential when he could pretty much save himself. The new wind jutsu can be his first step to reedeming himself.

thats the other thing about Naruto I can never put my finger on is that I don't mind it, its been heavily overshadowed by every shounen i've watched / read since seeing it, but whenever I try to think up what could make it better I keep drawing Blanks

If he's only done 4800 hours of training, that's only 200 days. He hasn't even done one year of training as of yet.

Coincidentally, that reminds me of that place on Kami's Lookout in DBZ where it was a chamber or something like that where one second in real time = some amount of minutes or something like that.

I was shocked at the terrible quality of art over the last several months in particular, it's like Kishimoto doesn't care about how the series looks.

And Naruto has six named attacks, and their all variations of the same attack: Shadow Clones, Mass Shadow Clones, Rasengan, Oodama Rasengan, and those two clone combos. Sarutobi was in one fight, and he has eight or nine named attacks.

I'm being gosh-darn serious. The only people in Naruto who could be considered "evil" are Akatsuki, since they're trying to impose their will on the whole world. Is Orochimaru like that? Compare Orochimaru to the ninja villages in general; Orochimaru kills people to further his own ends, which would make them necessary tools. This is not unlike the ninja villages who treat the success as being more important than an individual ninja's safety. Additionally, look at the people Orochimaru kills; he usually steals their bodies ("killing" them) to keep himself alive. it's self-preservation, which provided the opportunity any living breathing animal would attempt to do.

Contrast with the ninja villages, who have ninjas kill people because they're paid to do so. Now who appears more evil?

Never forget that Sasuke left Konoha of his own will; no matter how much Narutards or even the Konoha-nin bastich about it, it was Sasuke's choice and all Orochimaru did was promise him great power. At this, Orochimaru is training Sasuke to kill one of the "bad" guys of Naruto, his own brother Itachi, a member of Akatsuki.

So, in short, while Orochimaru might be the "end boss" of Naruto, he sure sucks as one, because from my point of view he's acting rational, not malevolently.

Terek, you have quite a point. I've never thought of it like that. He's just looking out for number one. To me that seems like a better boss design instead of the generic evil guy who does what he does for little to no reason. He wants ultimate knowledge of all jutsus. Cliche but somewhat different.

Still Orochimaru doesn't give me that end boss vibe. He seems like a slightly less annoying Naraku. Also Orochimaru seems to be afraid of the Akatsuki & Itachi. I know battle skills does not equate to this, but the fact there's people much stronger than him, doesn't make me feel like he's an end boss. I don't he's "THE" end boss, maybe one of them. But I've been wrong before (I am probably wrong this time)

They might, but no one ever said that. Assassination I can understand, but not torture. And even then, it's not all of Konoha's fault for that torture anyway, depending on who's involved. I doubt the 3rd would run a torture operation, that guys just too damn moral.

But wasn't Ibiki a torture specialist? Sarutobi might've been moral, but he's also the leader of a nation's military; I'm fairly sure that a torture division or something of that sort probably didn't exist, but torture probably was necessary at some point.

If I may add my thoughts, I detest Sasuke's style far more than Naruto's. Why? Sasuke is just copying people who are far cooler and better than him coughLeecough coughKakashicough. But even with this, He has more original attacks than Naruto (I think). oh well. It is a bit odd to really dislike the two main characters isn't it?

Not in Naruto, the three main characters aren't nearly as interesting as the dozen or so thrown away secondary characters. I have far more respect for Kakashi than Sasuke, as Kakashi was a prodigy in the first place (before he got Sharingan) and Sasuke was only considered a prodigy because he was the last Uchiha.

It's not really odd to dislike the main characters. I'm personally a not much of a Luffy fan (although his Gears are cool). I also don't like Gohan or Ichigo that much. Don't think I need to mention Sakura. You'll find that alot of the time, people like the side characters WAY more than the main ones.

To be honest, I start to think that people would say the exact same things about Neji and Rock Lee if they were in the lead role. People who get the same thing over and over start to get curious for what their other options are.

This is true. Enventually you wanna see more of the side-characters who u don't know much about. I wager in a sec people will probably want the Akatsuki & CP9 to get their own spinoff series (I'd buy a CP9 spinoff).

Considering that torture (well, psychological/interrogation) was the specialty of the first proctor of the Chuunin exams…

I never seen it as good or evil in Naruto. They all have missions and you have enemies base on ur missions. Like most wars, fights and disputes, there is no good or evil, just a whole lot of in between.

Sasuke was pretty talented before he got the sharingan. He just wasnt no itachi but than again who was?

From the very little I saw of IGPX, it did kick ass. I believe the ratings were not that good and it also had swearing in it (damn, ass, nothing to harsh tho). I'm guessing it's was most likely the rating tho, they should put it on [adult swim].

It IS on a regular day schedule. It's on Miguzi too.

But to me, I never really got into that overhyped show IGPX. But then again, it's way better than HELLBOY IN JAPAN.

I can't really say why I like IGPX because I haven't seen much of it. For some reason I just like it (as crazy as that sounds).

I thought the Hellboy animated movie was decent (hopefully the second will be much better). The live action movie was excellent tho.

It looks like the chapter was made before the break or that the break didn't do anything for Kishimoto in the creative department
