Can someone please explain it to me? Maybe it was the translation or watching the episodes week by week instead of in a batch but I think I'm missing the point of going to the moon…and why did he even want the golden bell? Was it filled with plot holes or am I just not paying enough attention?
Ener's Plan??

You weren't paying attention. The Golden Bell of Shandora was the most prized possession belonging to the shandians. Enel with his God Complex, felt that he should get it being the almighty.
As for the moon, people thought that the endless vearth that he was talking about was that of the world beneath the sky, but actually at the end you find out that he wanted to be the ruler of the moon. The endless vearth was the moon basically.
-
Fairy vearth was the moon. Vearth is whatever's below Skypiea that is earthen.
So far, we have yet to see anything as to explain "Enel's space strategy", as all we've seen him do is get to the moon.
Let's hope we see Boss Rabbit, Bon-chan, enel's face being stuck permanently because the wind blew another direction, and Enel being helpless on the moon because his powers don't work on the moon.
-
Why do I have a feeling he's gonna find a poneglyph on the moon?

I think his powers do work otherwise he would be dead by now. (Yes I know where you got all of that from)
-
I'm just thinking that he can breathe because Oda's messing with the laws of science again.
-
I'm hoping that Enel just has a breath dial on his face. Maybe with his unique face and ears, he could where a dial that makes him look like some sort of animals…just as many of Oda's characters do. Or, maybe one of those "space rabbits" saves Enel at the last second with something to breath.
Come to think of it...if Enel's ears floated upwards...wouldn't he look kind of like a rabbit?
-
yes
He has been in space for awhile now. afterall a space shuttle take 11 days to get there(or is it round trip?)
oh well. idiot still thinks it's the plac eonly he is worthy of.
but whats witht he space bunnies and stuff?
he ythat could work. space bunnies attakc, low gravity forces his ears up
then they goes ONE OF US!
-
Attack of the evil space bunnies. Great Idea. Maybe Enel will meet the Mooninites and talk about the greatness of the moon. ATHF crossover FTW …................ or maybe not
-
Enel's real plan: place a 'laser beam' on the moon, turning it into a 'Death Star'. Using his 'Death Star', he holds the world hostage for one hundred billion dollars…er, Berries. It shall be called the Alan Parsons Project.

Usopp (To Luffy in an X Wing): Attack its weak point for massive damage.

I understood that..it just seemed like…that was kind of a silly reason to want it in the first place.:P

Cause awhile back we all did a Enel mini arc. Search for it in creativity, its been inactive for a bit tho.

Or he could be able to breathe because, y'know, he can.
-
No one can simply breathe because they can.
I do have a theory though. Supposing Maxim is able to take him to the moon fast enough, I do believe the moon appears a bit too large in the sky. Perhaps the moon has enough of a gravitational field to retain an atmosphere.
-
@yokaiforte:

I'm breathing because I can. I know there's more to it than that, but if you don't know WHY you can breathe, you can just say 'because you can'.
And I don't know why I can breathe. I know about lungs and all that, but I don't know why I can breathe.
So hah.
-
I'm still going with the breath dial idea. It'd work like an oxygen tank.
-

That's where you're wrong. My school's curriculum has provided me with a good sense as to how respiration works and as to why it works. I just connected some more of the dots online.
So hah.
-
Even if he has a breath dial, doesn't Maxim function using propellers? If so, how could a prop engine travel through a space with no atmosphere?
-
mm… perhaps Maxim has been using Jet Dials to get through space, in conjunction with the propellers.

Well, damn. There goes my chance at being a philosopher. [/sarcasm]
-
Philosophy has nothing to do with your natural functions. Respiration is the function used to obtain Oxygen into your body. As you know about your lungs, The oxygen enters the blood stream through the lungs. The necessity for oxygen is linked with your metabolism. Oxygen is used to separate carbohydrates into energy your cells can use in the Mitochondria in your cells. The oxygen therefore combines with the carbon in the aformented glucose (C6H12O6) and becomes Carbon Dioxide. This Carbon Dioxide is therefore expelled from the body again through respiration.
Everything has a function, even if its vaguely obscure. That or it used to have a fuction, and is now obselete. You cannot do something merely because you can.

I meant my philosophy of being able to do something 'because I can'.
-
Actually, yokaiforte he's right. How and why are seperate questions asking seperate things. Science tells us how we breathe, but it is philosophy and theology that tell us why we breathe. And in ChopChop's case, the reason he has accepted for Why He Breathes is 'because he can'.
-
he can breathe in space because Oda wills it so.

Oh, let's not argue for once, ok? I can't be bothered this time round.
-
If such is the case, I can answer it in a different way.
We breathe because if we don't, we die. We die because without energy, we can't function.
-

What did I just say?
We're here to discuss Eneru-sama's adventure on the moon, not the basics of respiratory functions.
-
We were also discussing as to how Enel can breathe. Even as Godly as Enel is, he cannot breathe simply because he can.
I'm still sticking with my reasoning that the moon is larger than our moon and can retain an atmosphere.
-

Or he could breathe, because, y'know, in a manga, anything is possible.
So he can breathe because he can.
-
Even imaginary worlds should have restrictions in the world. Otherwise it'd be like Zoro's Asura ability.
But whatever, I won't debate any more on this "Breathe because he can" idea you have.
-
@yokaiforte:

I should think not.
-
They need an explanation for how he can breath. He clearly needs to eat, he clearly needs to sleep, and why was he occasionally breathing heavy during his fight?
We need a better reason then that. The atmosphere one might work, though I'm still rooting for the breath dial.
-
Or maybe because he is neither completely human nor element, and lightning doesn't need to breathe, so….
-
Or "space" in the Odaverse may be more akin to the olde notion of the Ether: Something like liquid Fire surging between the planets and other heavenly bodies. As such, there's some sort of Air present there, and so also breathable air. Capitalization of Fire and Air is to indicate they are in Elemental form. Come to think of it, I suddenly have lost all interest in Enel's Adventure. We need to write Oda demanding a 'Girls of OP' Weekly Calender running from ch.430 'til the end of this year. Heavenly Bodies…:w00t:
-
I am not sure if this idea is plausible, but I will share it anyway. Eneru can restart his heart even after dying. Therefore, even though he can and does breathe, he can keep his heart going indefinitely with steady electric shocks through his body. Granted, he would still lack oxygen (a vital component for keeping tissue alive), but he might be able to maintain a medium between his body and elemental lightning as mentioned by ChopChopCannon.
As for why Eneru went to the moon, I think he saw that it was bigger than Skypiea and decided he wanted to go to the place with more land. He really didn't seem to care about having subjects (he used a decent amount of the Skypieans for slave labor), so the acquisition of land may outweigh ruling over people for him.
-
Hah! The mystery is resolved!

He can breathe….
......because he can.
-
I still uphold my idea that the moon is massively larger than our moon enough to retain an atmosphere, and that he used a breath dial in the inbetween.

Good for you. pats head patronisingly
Now shh, the adults are talking.….
Sorry, I just had to say that.
