Why is there no one to protect Phil?
The Promised Neverland
-
-
because he's a big boy he can take care of himself
-
Oh dear . . . .
Poor Phil. I guess every house has to have a Ray. And is it me or does Carol now look like a little Emma?
-
Imagine knowing someone was gonna die as they walked away with a smile completely oblivious.
Didnt expect this to be shown with Phil but damn this is some heavy stuff to deal with for an adult.
Props to the author, I know some have complained about "ZERO DEFFS" but they've absolutely nailed the psychological horrors
-
Damn, somebody save Phil already
-
Phil really has to endure a lot.
Reminding us that Ray had the same experience male him also appear in a whole other light. -
@Don:
Phil really has to endure a lot.
Reminding us that Ray had the same experience male him also appear in a whole other light.Yeah exactly, Ray did go through that himself and actually even needed to find that out himself.
Phil seems to be the child that has the Norman, Emma and Ray potential intelligence wise. So he will easily take care and be ready for things to come.
-
Just when you forget how screwed up the orphanages are…
You really feel bad for Phil this chapter. Simon too! Amazing we only see him for a bit but its enough care about him. This manga does a great job of building tension. This is high-level storytelling. I hope they make a novel adaptation too. It'd sell like hotcakes.Didn't think about until this chapter, but of course, they'd keep an eye on the Gracefield kids in case Team Emma told them the truth. Hope this is the beginning of a Phil mini-arc. If they figure out Phil knows, he AND the other Grace kids are dead. No way they're taking a risk in another knowing too.
-
Everyone go, "Hmmmm . . . ."

I know theres demons in this world but i wasnt expecting magic considering the rest of the setting uses logic to explain everything.
-
-
Just caught up. Are there any big fan theories I should know about?
-
%&^$& might have some sort of telepathic abilities

@Long:

:wassat: I can't see where that came from at all, but okay.
-

I mean we basically know nothing about them besides them being mentioned at an important meeting of demons

I always thought he/she was the leader of the demons. Wonder if that was really them that Emma met and if so what's what's there connection to Musica.
-
Does anyone else feel that the past couple of chapters have been a teeensy bit rushed? (Mainly this one really)
-
Nope, but I can understand why people might think so. Team Emma got there without a major incident and our check-in with Phil was cut short.
As for this chapter, I got no idea what's happening. #$@%# is a dragon? The series opened a supernatural can of worms. And a lot of crap (a year and a half worth) has to go down before the kids get back to Team Phil. I'm guessing we'll get a Promise backstory eventually, but honestly, I want to know what happened with Phil. What a nasty cliffhanger to leave us on.
-
That’s probably why, the fact that the group made it there and probably back to the shelter without any major incident. Not exactly the worst thing but it did seem like it was gonna be a bit more of an expedition, especially with Don and Gilda getting a bit of focus before they set out. Still time for shit to get out of control though, just need to wait and see.
-
lol, I got so pulled into Phil's story I forgot about Don and Gilda. Yeah, they do need a moment to shine before returning to the shelter.
-
Who on earth is Anna, and how did she rank 5th in the popularity poll?
-

Kinda makes you want to turn vegetarian, doesn't it?
Who on earth is Anna, and how did she rank 5th in the popularity poll?
That's what I want to know. Of course Musica the cute demon girl would rank high.
-
Hmm, Norman more popular than Ray. Didn't see that coming.
-
He's Emma's boyfriend, that's why. Or at least people want him to be.
One great thing about this chapter is that it makes it seem so mundane. Just a town of demons going about their business running errands and buying groceries. Except those groceries are human body parts.
-
Emma and Ray look great redesigned.
Don and Gilda having their time to shine and there we get a timeskip, lol.
Gillian was 9th in the poll <3 -
It's official, Phil's a main character. He blew everyone except the big three out the water. And a big lol at poor Don and Gilda for being less popular than a freaking stuffed rabbit.
Great chapter. Agreed at the town casually selling human meat being disturbing as hell. Seriously, get these people some KFC and BBQ, they'll never go human again. Liking the time skip looks. I was legit scared for them in demon town. Be nice if we checked back in with Norman and Phil. Wait a minute? The Grace Field kids still haven't figured out that huge guy knows Norman?
Edit: According to the mangaka's Jump comment, we're now in the final arc. I'm not ready for it to end.
-

Well if the guy can't talk (or write, apparently) then they can't learn he knows Norman.
And nooooo, I don't want it to end either. Time skip skipped a bunch of fun arcs, it seems.
-
Yeah, what's up with us being in the final arc already!? Nooo, it should go on longer! It can go on longer! If only the author explored his ideas a bit further for some more exciting scenes. What could be better than "demon town infiltration arc"? Why did we only see a few pages of that instead of a ~10-chapter arc? Dammit :getlost:
-
Because they will probably have to do it again?
-
After Lewis the current enemy doesn´t look so bad, losing the base seems like the bigger problem. I mean, the bad guys has the surprise factor and most likely better weapons, but they are playing at home and must have some sort of plan for this situation.
On the other hand I am curious if the story is gonna show the kids actually killing fellow human beings with guns, not only because it may be troublesome for the children to bear with as a moral issue, but because it seems like the kind of things that parents would call a bad influence for the minor readers. Killing freaky monsters with guns is one thing and showing children killing adults with them is another, I don´t think there is a problem, but parents association may see it.
-
Once again humanity's greatest enemy is itself.
-
They had a year to prep their shelter and themselves for a situation like that. Would be strange if they had nothing planned. I guess "run away!" makes for a better cliffhanger than "do Plan 53!"
I'd still be cautious. This guy looks like a Hellsing character. Or at least someone Nightow would draw :D
The old demon temple was a delight tho
-
The thing is that they denied the death of the two fighters and Oliver? The one that Bayon managed to slash. The stakes must be raised again.
-
Yeah Im not buying the humans being deadlier than bayon and co. Its an army of supersmart kids who killed multiple demons, in their home turf, defending against someone they knew would attack, with a hidden ally somewhere as well just in case things go bad. Especially when they just have bullets, one of the most non-lethal weaponery in a fantasy setting.
-
Honestly I don't think the kids should be scared of humans and running scared they have been fighting monsters. I can't even see one of those humans not even glasses harder to deal with than Lord Byron
-
Quite the tense chapter, hope they make it out okay…
-
Killing humans and killing people eating demons are two different things. I don't think any of the kids want to if they don't have to. I see the Ratri Clan on an almost equal level with the demons. The demons are usually overconfident. These guys don't seem like that and have the numbers and information (they know about all the exits) to get the job done.
My biggest takeaway is how are the Supporters going to help them. They have to play a big role eventually.
-
Yeah, pretty damn tense chapter, specially the ending where we find out that the Ratri guys know about the whole thing. I wonder what the next step is, it is not looking good. But yeah, if they can deal with Lord Bayon, they can probably deal with these guys, despite being a very different challenge…
-
It's a very different challenge, and they are at quite the disadvantage. They had even more advantages at the Golden Pond, here they're with their back to the wall. Literally.
-
It hasn't been this bad since Mama.
http://www.mangahere.cc/manga/yakusoku_no_neverland/c105/Man, it makes the Ratri clan look even worse than the demons sometimes.
-
It is because they are. Eating another species is one thing, but condemnation of your own race to be eaten? Murdering a bunch of kids?
-
Man is his worst enemy.
-
Id just like to remind everyone that although some didnt like what happenned in goldy pond emma promised theyd all make it out after that kids siblings died, so now that that part is over thinge can get more dire
-
well, I am glad that people can die outside the plan at least. Let's see if after they get all hands on deck someone gets killed or has to make a sacrifice.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
It is like "We can lose, but only when we are caught with our pants down", I take it over One Piece "We can't lose" or HxH "we sometimes lose without any fault of our own for subversion's sake"
-
seems like the kind of situation they cannot escape without outside intervention@maxterdexter:

pretty sure the strawhats have lost plenty of times so i don't really know what you are talking about
-
Context, Specifically deaths. Ace and Whitebeard don't balance out even only Pell.

well it doesn't help that when people die, like pedro, pound, vergo, or monet, people still don't believe they are dead so they don't count XD
personally i don't need death to consider it a loss, but that's just me
-
The second those two boys I didn't recognize offered to go ahead I knew they were dead. Who the hell were those guys?
Glad we got confirmation the Ratri Clan doesn't give a damn about what the world wants as long as the promise stays in place. Gives more weight to the theory the general public doesn't know about the Promise or at least its details. It's messed up they don't consider fellow humans as human, but that's how you justify stuff like this. I'm sensing some social commentary coming up in the future.
