"chain of tragedies"??? pfft … chain of revenge is more like it!
Attack on Titan: Why Genocide Is Sometimes Kind of Okay
-
-
This climax of AoT is FMA levels of epic, I like it a lot.
-
The battles were amazing this chapter.
Wasn't there a theory that Zeke was siding with Paradis now, and betrayed Marley? This could mean he and Levi were pretending to attack each other.
I'm only saying this because this very cathartic moment of taking down the beast titan seemed to be over a little quickly this chapter. But well, neither Zeke nor the Car Titan are dead yet, only down! So it could mean more developments! -
! Someone else having problems following the choreography of Levi vs. Beast Titan? Like in one panel Jaws Titan is seen charging towards the house Levi stands on with the Beast Titan behind him, and in the next one Levi cuts the Beast Titan's nape from behind?? Or am I confusing some people with each other, since to me they look so different with most of them having cut their hair short (and thus, somehow all looking alike)?
! Otherwise, amazing and pretty intense action. That panel with the entire horizon covered in the flash of Armin's transformation looks awesome and it will be even more impressive when animated I bet!Edit: Quickly put my shit behind spoiler bars, since appearently the new chapter hasn't reached everyone yet :O my bad!
-
Is there a chapter out somewhere? Nevermind, thought the above link was just spoilers.
-
Its funny but I feel equally invested with the marleys from eldia as I do with the paradisians. Is that a weakness to the paradise kids, a strength to the marleyans, both at once, or has it just been a while since the paradisians got major focus?

So part of me is looking at eren and thinking "what the hell is wrong with you, thats a lot of dead civilians pal, not hypocritical at all, wouldnt even mind if you guys died'
-
That's the point. There is no "good" or "bad" side here.
All of them want to survive on their own terms and Eren is willing to sacrifice these civilians so that Marley wouldn't eventually kill all of those within the walls/no longer turn them into Titans.
-
Yeah but do seinen authors usually go this far with the concept because it feels strange compared to most shonen in that regard
-
This is a lot more morally ambigious than a lot of Shounen.
I don't think this is going all that "far", myself - Eren's actions aren't shown in a very heroic light - the consequences of his actions are shown to be horrible and characters call him out. Eren's operating on Erwin's logic. Erwin did the same thing at Stohess, notably, a 100 civilians died there. Both don't like making sacrifices like this, but they are forced to because it's a kill or be killed situation. Eren even is very understanding and composed compared to his younger self.
The fact that both sides have these morally ambigious elements to them is what makes it work for me because the Marleyan Eldians are equally brainwashed and working to murder many innocents inside the walls.
Eren's actions aren't the most timely and can be used against him (that's even Willy's plan) and the Marleyan Eldians contribute to the horrible system being kept up. There's negatives to both sides.
-
Eren and Levi too OP. Sakurai, plz nerf.

Oh, hey there Armin.
-
I thought that was Historia at first.
-
"Mr.Owl. How many licks does it takes to get to the core of the Armored Titan?"
Edit: I love the fact that MS has no idea if they use the name Porco or Pokko.
-
Historia has got too many responsibilities to attend as of today. I don't think we're ever going to see her joining the fray unless another big battle takes place in their country.
-
Yeah, I can't imagine them letting their young queen onto the front lines. Unless she's gotten married and had a kid by now, but even then it's unlikely.
-

Yeah, because Ymir is dead.
-
Even if you have a lesbian lover, it's a royal's duty to make an heir. An unfortunate fact, but that's monarchy for you.
-
She can adopt one of the children in the orphanage she set up.
-
She could, but considering how important her blood line is thought of they might not let her.
-
Thematically the series is about breaking the cycle of violence in many ways. Could be appropriate if the First King's blood is no longer passed on after the many cycles of eating the successor and such.
I get the feeling Eren didn't ultimately tell anyone about the importance, either. I can see Hange or some smarter characters figuring it out, but it's not a very likely possibility considering Eren put a lot of different details together.
-
The fight keeps going on, now with titan juice
-
Holy crap that was really brutal lol.
-
That was good.
-
That felt really good.
-
The climax has been really good.
So now Eren has three titan powers right? -
Eren was a complete savage, using Porco as a nutcracker and later punching the crap out of Reiner.
-
Marley keept the same titans as they started, the loss was hammerhead only in the end. And face. And soldiers, and a bunch of foreigner ambassadors and VIPs.
-
So Marley has: Beast, cart, jaws, armored.
Paradis: Founder, Attack, Colossal, Hammerhead, Female.
And Eren now knows how to break the Shell on Annie.
Marley is losing big time. -
Eh. Marley deserves worse.
-
You know I used to think I'd have a problem with eren and everyone dying but now it wouldnt bother km at all tp be honest. I hope gabi manages to get revenge on the islanders.

Technically if eren absorbed all the powers and killed himself it could be a way of hiding the powers because they were too dangerous. It also be really messed up and would be one way he'd stand out. How many manga authors end with the MC killing themselves for the good of humanity?
-
Insanely good stuff so far, indeed. Reiner looked really messed up with this halfway transformation and seems to be mentally broken, I mean, he really didn't put up any fight, that was a clean 1 hit KO from Eren. Cart, Jaws and Beast are all badly wounded and not in any shape for combat as well. I wonder what's gonna stop Paradise from a total victory at this point, to be honest.
I recon the airship will eventually go down, probably forcing a solution to the war right here. As to how the larger conflict of the story, the endless cycle of violence, will be broken in the end I have no idea yet, which somehow feels pretty good.
-
Man, Armin's Colossal Titan sure looks depressed.
-
Airship will go away i believe, but with some sacrifices.End game is still a bit away.
I think Jean gonna die by Gabi's bullet. It's Ishiyama style of cause and effect.Memory of War-hammer titan will give Eren a crucial understanding of what transpired between 145th king and the owner of this specific titan at that time.
At this point, if Beast titan doesn't do anything more while the airship go away, it can be safely assumed that Zeke is now a traitor( Picke will definitely come up to that conclusion).Gabi will get Armored titan and inherit Reiner's painful memories, but my theory is Falco, despite knowing all that come with titan power, will take Beast titan. We will have a match between him and Eren.Ishiyama has been slowly making him a very important character. -
Reiner's memories would do Gabi some good, as she needs a good dose of reality/de-programming.
I would really prefer Jean doesn't die, though.

If someone did serve as a sacrifice who would you prefer? Sasha Connie or….I'm sure I'm forgetting some secondary non levi characters?
-
Yeaaaaah, this has been so damn sweet. That warhammer titan juice? Brutal. So damn brutal. Wow. So now Eren has 3 titan powers, huh. This is getting really damn interesting, I'm loving this final arc so far. After the really slow build up it had, it has been on a roll lately. I agree that probably Gabi and Falco will inherit the Armored and Beast titans and get to know all that is really behind the current state of affairs. Marley still managed to save both the Cart titan and the Jaw titan in the end, which is positive for the chances of a more balanced fight in the future. I haven't been this excited about this series in a long ass time, it feels good, man!
-
So what does the Female Titan can even do to benefit Eren?
-
So what does the Female Titan can even do to benefit Eren?
Nothing, it will be more about convincing Annie to change sides.
-
@ KageKageKing
That depends on what Eren and co. really want to achieve. Are they only trying to survive by these desperate measures or have they possess a long term goal? Even bigger question is is it possible to achieve peace while power of the titans remain in the world?
There are still too many pieces of puzzle missing to predict how Annie will come to play in the story…..But one thing for sure, the way Ishiyama is turning and twisting the story as of late, we are going to have a explosive ending(even if it lefts a bitter aftertaste to many fans).
-
Oh I don't mind that bitter aftertaste. Actually, I want it! I want to be surprised, to be sorry for all these people, to see the world burn. The finale is looking good.
-
By the way, how is Zeke?
-
The only thing I can think of right now is: "Isn't having this many titans going to do a number on Eren's body?"
Also Eren needs a shave, he looks awful with a beard.
@Long:

Hmmm, I'm not sure, actually. I just know I don't want it to be Jean or Levi.
-
So now Eren has the Founding Titan, the Attack Titan, and the Warhammer Titan. And that's not counting the strongest man in the world, Mikasa and the Colossal Titan: Armin. There's no way Marley can ever hope to turn the tides of the war to their favor. Even Reiner has lost all motivation to continue fighting on.

Wasnt part of Tybur's plan to turn the world against the paradise eldians. The military mentioned that anti titan weapons were making things tougher for them. I could see them joining a coalition in fear that eren was a mass terrorist who got off on killing random people
-
I really hope that Eren didn't actually get the warhammer titan. Seems a bit of a waste considering it was pretty much just revealed.
-
By the way, how is Zeke?
Either playing incapacitated or planing to board on the airship.

Well i doubt that Eldians can develop Zeppelin building technology in four years that have passed. So they must have some advanced ally with their own agenda.Hence it is highly unlikely that it is going to be Paradise vs rest of the world.

Rainer and Zeke could both be traitors and somehow give blueprints to the Eldians. Especially Zeke could be the new Owl.
-
No way Reiner. Ishiyama wouldn't have gone to such a length to torment him in his conversation with Eren otherwise.
-
I'm almost convinced Zeke has switched sides. The timing and the way he went down was just a tad too convenient. He first lets everybody in the battlefield know that "Eren Yeager is not my enemy", then shouts out to Levi as if he was giving him a signal. Few pages later, Zeke is down and his whole performance goes almost unnoticed.
Normally this would be a case of 'looking too much into things', but some hints were layed out, IMO.
I mean, if he's not a traitor to Marley, then Levi pretty much killed Zeke, as he dropped dynamite on him, and the Marley forces assumed he's dead.

I too think that way.But Ishiyama is making it too 'obvious' (in terms of AOT standard),hence i am keeping a tiny bits of doubt. Also the talk between Willy and Magath implied that they believed at least one person was on their side no matter what.Other than Zeke,it is hard for me to think someone else fitting that criteria.
I won't be surprised if it turns out that Willy himself made way for Eren(unbeknownst to Eren himself) to invade Marley and used Zeke as a contact. There may be complex plot-lines hidden underneath that Ishiyama is yet to divulge out. -
But zeke was brain washed into hating his dad how could eren learning the truth convince him to just undo everything, if its a betrayal we need the in between
