The new version of Symmetra is live. I tried a few games with her and did decently. For those unfamiliar or not following:
- Removed: Throwable Shields and Shield Generator.
- Changed: – Her main beam attack fires straight like Zarya's.
-- I can't remember if her Secondary Fire exploded on contact but it does now.
-- Her teleporter is now a normal ability instead of an ultimate, offering a short lived teleporter teammates can use to go from two points in line of sight (think a group oriented version of Reaper's teleport).
-- She now gets only three turrets instead of six, but they're sturdier and you can throw them.
- Added: The Great Wall of Symmetra. Her ult now creates a giant shieldwall. It can be placed Mei's wall straight ahead or across, and it's LO~ONG. It acts like any other shield though, enemy attacks can't pass through though enemies themselves can.
My initial thoughts:
I'm not yet used to not having the throwable shields anymore.
I love being able to throw the turrets where I want them.
The new teleporter strikes me as a group oriented version of Reaper's teleport.
The Great Wall of Symmetra has some definite defense and disruption potential. Putting it up on a defense point can force enemies to close in, or you can shield-weave if you put it in the middle of your teamfight.
