Black Clover

This new member might be planned since chapter 2!!!
!
While I'm not saying Tabata is a master at planning, I'm glad the Black Bulls are so far in the scope of what he probably had in mind before starting the series. -
Then we are missing some more surprise black bulls.
-
Who's the big guy? He's appeared a few times, I think, but always obscured. Or maybe he's been introduced and I forgot.
By the way, the concept of having a haunted base and some character with full control over it is something I quite like (a bit similar to how Merry was considered a member). Too bad that the base itself was never given any focus.
-

You're talking about Gray? He was turned out to be the shy lady that has transformation magic.
-
Ah, so that was it. I thought that in the first chapters there was always a duplicate character (meaning that one of them was Gray), so the big guy was someone else. It turns that started after Gray's intro.
-
I like the new member, and I like how Yami interacts with all his recruits. That line: "nah, having you die is bad mojo" and then telling him he will give him mana to feed from from every member of the Black Bulls.
I wonder if they are "weaker" because of it.
-
At the very least, doesn't affect Asta one bit. :ninja:
-
OK, skimmed through the introduction of the black bulls, I think that we are missing a woman with dreadlocks that was on the shadowy panel.
Gray was back there on her giant form, Vanesa (? The witch themed one) was flying on the broom, and it's too different from Charmy to be her.
-
What a fake out.
-
Something we all saw coming from long ago, maybe not quite exactly what we were expecting, but pretty much the same in the end.
Story should really pick up/alter course from here though.
-
I see a couple of things happening. But one of them is sleeping fire boy to finally wake up. But the death of the emperor seems but assured.
-
A rather cliche trope, take hostages to subdue/hinder your opponent.
-
Oh no, it's Gaara vs Deidara all over again.
I like Julius, but at the same time the story can only benefit from his early demise. In a hands of a capable author, that is.
-
I respected deidara more because it seemed like the plan all along, here it seems like Lich believed that he can win and grew desperate.
-

Yeah, that's what rubbed me the wrong way. All that careful planning, only to lose all 3 admirals by sending them one at a time (well ok, Liar is not quite done but still) and only to just jump in blindly against Julius. I'd understand if he wanted to stall him so that the other missions can be completed without a powerhouse like Julius interrupting them. This way, it seems poorly planned, both by Licht and the author.
-
A shame it was so predictable, unless there is a surprise spin, the end/climax was meh.
-
It feels so lackluster that I am hoping that a surprise spin is in place.
This series is lighthearted enough to have the emperor live on through some convenient magic trick.
-
I wonder if Yuno will take the Sasuke Route now.
-
Why would he do that?
-
Yuno has zero reasons to be anything like Sasuke. Unless later down the line we learn about how and why he and Asta were abandoned and that pendant he has.
-
If you consider that Vengeance is kinda like Orochimaru without the body-stealing bullshit then there is always chance for a Palpatine Vader relationship here.
-
But presently Yuno has no reason to go the Sasuke route. His desire to be magic hokage has no vengeance attached to it.
-
Not to mention Sasuke wanted to become hokage way past the finale's start.
The author has been doing good in terms of pacing, this development seems like it is missing something.
-
Well, Light is not entirely wrong in what he's doing, I guess. His race had a tragic downfall, and the human kingdom isn't exactly a perfect place. It might even get worse without Julius to keep things in check. I could see Yuno choosing to support the elves for some yet undisclosed reason. For starters, his squad is now a mess, the leader turning out to be a traitor, the second in command being corrupted by dark magic. Wouldn't be surprised if the king or whoever is in charge now decides the whole squad is suspicious. Which could lead to a possible conflict and Yuno being forced to run away.
Of course, I can guess all I want at this point. First we need to see how this will be resolved.
-
I am disappointed, but I guess this really kickstarts the series. There will be a period of turmoil in Clover kingdom, and the new wave of magic knights will step up to the forefront.

I might have to re-read. I'm not quite sure who changed to who. The characters look too similar lol.
-
Yh, I didn't really understand anything about the backstory from this chapter either.
-
So the Licht in Vengeance's body isn't actually Licht, but someone who took Licht's name…Okay then.
-
It's clear as mud.
-
Yeah. It's pretty clear that the character who was off to the side that we didn't see in the chapter is the one who was reincarnated into a Licht's body. We only see the persons face in the last page, right above Licht's.
-
The episode this week was pretty lazy. And the editing was weird. There was so much that kept getting repeated.
-
Well, the author is clearly being unclear on purpose. It's practically impossible to even catch this thing by a thread, let alone to disentangle it.
-
Shit just hit the fan.
https://jaiminisbox.com/reader/read/black_clover/en/0/149/page/1 -
Black Clover just hit us with a uhhhh WTF is this. Especially going forward, because it seemingly makes it appear that the Clover forces don't stand a chance.
-
Damn, I guess this is how they put Asta vs Juno, I am extremely curious about what are the conditions to be turned.
-
The clue that I think is bloodlines. Because Marie and Gauche.
-
Could be, as we didn't see any Nobles turn, at least I don't think we did.
-
Isn't glassess dude a noble? Well, noelle didn't turn. I'd say is elven ancestry.
I can't remember the thunder kid backstory, all the black bulls backstory meld together.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Very specifically, Meloreona, Noelle and Mimosa and her brother didn't turn, while the Deer guy, the golden dawn people and some other of the super guard did.
Some dude or lady with black hair from the Silver Eagles, the weird lady from Blue Rose, and the snow girl from the deer dudes.
Black Clover Wikia sucks, I had to check each character page individually.
But Luck was adopted into a house, and Gauche was an orphan from a house, house in the "house stark" kind of house.
I'll say is elf ancestry.
-
I agree, elven ancestry. thinking on the chapter, I overlooked whom was turning, like their history, I just saw it as people are turning.
It also makes sense, considering that the elves had magic to reincarnate on bodies of humans.
So where does Asta come from.
-
Well, it looks Tabata took the easier route. Instead of building conflict between mages gradually, he decided to hax magic it into existence.
I suppose it's going to be interesting at least. Depending on how thorough the reincarnation take over is.
Do I smell Asta traning arc here?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
@K.:
So where does Asta come from.
A thought just occured to me. What if not-Licht was the previous owner of Dark Clover book. Might explain why he wanted to take it from Asta so bad.
BTW, not sure I remember all the details.
-
Well, there is a chance for a 3 way conflict, the nobles, the elves and the commoners.
-
Ningens are gonna pay now
-
Lmao…I don't remember this chapter the anime covered well...But seriously..Salt Bae!? Lmao.
-
Color me interested. I don't know why, but this mass betrayal feels like it could be interesting, like the rebelion swords arc of Bleach (anime only) where the Zanpaktou got physical form and fought the Shinigami.
It's halfway morbid pleasure, as I don't actually like these characters that much, halfway I don't know this author well enough to pinpoint how it will be shitty latter.
-
Not me. It's just gratuitous illustrations of magic, and I'm not really feeling the conflict.
-
Hmm. Plots like this make me feel like it's a end arc kinda move. Or at the very least a mid way marker.
-
Agreed. It honestly feels like the whole point of this arc is to set up the inevitable Asta/Yuno conflict.
