For a moment this was a manga about Bear Hunting. Think about it.
Food Wars - It's In the Trash
-
-
There should be a crossover special chapter where Souma and Sanji have a cooking match. That would be super sugoi!
-
Soma took the words right out of my mouth.

good build-up chapter.

hohoho shots fired at Hayama

-
So wait, Azami's deal was comply with me or I lose a huge source of funding and merit to my institution? Couldn't Hayama and Shiomi just go somewhere else and maintain all of their connections that Azami just wasted resources on intimidating?
-
That's what's been bothering me since the start of this purge. Her department is extremely valuable. They aren't just cooking. They are producing ways of growing food and spices outside their habitat successfully. Anyone would want them. It's just really flimsy writing.
-
Azami was literally planning on destroying valuable research that both the school and various investors paid for. If I were Hayama, though, I'd tell him to tear it, then laugh it up since it's the information age and nobody keeps all of their valuable data on a couple print outs and a CD. If anything, Azami's just wasting the only copy he got.
-
I was about to say, all of their research was kept on a handful of papers and a CD?
-
It's not even possible for those documents to be the only copy since both printing and cd burning both are processes that take the data from another source.
-
Food wars - hackers!
-
Yeah, if Azami threatened to patent that stuff, and take the research away from Jun. But… why? If it wasn't because of that the chapter would be a lot more enjoyable. Soma getting angry over something petty, and Kouga even starting to like Hayama were fun moments.
-
It's not even possible for those documents to be the only copy since both printing and cd burning both are processes that take the data from another source.
At first I was upset that this was the only copy that Shiomi kept, but if all they wrote and did can be condensed into three (non-published? I mean if they were published then that would be another way to preserve them) papers and a few CDs, then maybe Azami's correct to consolidate the seminar due to lack of productivity
-
Glad I wasn't the only one who find the whole Hayama blackmail thing a bit off.
A former E.10 & Autumn election winner shouldn't have problem getting funds from outside source or even getting another job…even if Azami threaten most of their sponsor.
But it's possible that Tootsuki own Jun's research data since she's an employee there. Since Azami is now the principal, he own the patent to Jun's data somehow.
Also, keeping all your data in cd & paper seem stupid. Also don't put it in a place where the evil villain can access it.lol -

Yeah, even if that disk's a blue ray, I've managed data sets bigger than that.
Maybe all this time Azami was right, and all of the little groups and clubs at the school were just shitty wastes of money.
Azami had a few good ideas…
-
state of the art gourmet resources available and all the funding and sponsorship and they couldn't be half-assed to buy an external hard drive
-
Let's assume that asami's goons formated every disk in the research, stole and burned all papers except these and blocked their access to totsuki network, where the backups were.
-
Well,in a world where multinational companies cower to a school headmaster's threat,everything is possible….
I wonder if author understands that even a 10 years old kid will find the whole scenario stupid. -
Why are you all acting like the school doesn't control Japan. Even if Jun and Akira wanted to go elsewhere, they'd have to leave Japan.
Also the lack of tangible productivity makes sense. She's scatty and unorganised, that's why Akira has been fundamental to her advancement and achievements while she's failed to make a real mark on the world or accumulate students. If she was more organised, she'd be considered invaluable.
-
I never thought I'd see the day where Le Cordon Bleu is actually the New World Order
-
So this turned out to be exactly what we expected.
-
Tsukasa is a shrinking violet but he's the first seat. Jun being a scatter brain doesn't affect her skills whatsoever. She was the youngest person to be a professor & also a lecturer in Japan's best culinary school. The curry sister recognise her skills in the AE. Jun is a former E.10. Hayama's job is to apply the theories that she come out with. Even he recognised her intelligence, he just like to tease her.
Heck, some of Jun's research could be used in agriculture field, not just spices.
Jun is not that incompetent as some people are trying to make her out to be.
If Azami doesn't want her in Japan, screw him. She can get a job oversea. But if she has been doing research for at least a decade, there is no way that some paper & cd can sufficiently store it all. I'll just chalk it up to author not understanding how data research work…
As for Tootsuki...Don't forgot it's the best cooking school in Japan and extremely renowned. It's also owned by the Nakiri family. A highly influential family in the cooking industry. They're like the royal family of the cooking world. Erina giving your food a thumb down could end your entire cooking career. It's not that suprising that Azami can easily put pressure on anyone in the food industry.
-
Speaking of which, isn't Hayama a foreigner like the Audinis?

He was a street urchin Jun picked up in India (?) cause he had exceptional sniffing skillls.

Well since the anime wrapped up I decided to binge and catch up on the manga so I can have another series to read week to week. Overall I like the overarching story as a Saturday morning cartoon villain approach, and since we still get a number of the good aspects still I can deal with it for now. If there is one huge complaint it is how it feels many of the characters that have been introduced feel like they have been wasted. Soma is ok as a character and what I expect for a protagonist, one who moves the story along. However, like many stories it's the other characters who are more interesting, but they have done very little. You have all these characters with different specialties, but instead of them being able to show off they either just give Soma a hand, or do one thing that's impressive then aren't given the spot light again. This is especially frustrating with characters like Megumi and Alice, who have shown to do nothing in depth since the Autumn Election. With Megumi we saw a little match where everyone was shown to be impressed, but we didn't see her do anything. Instead, it's been pretty much Soma's show and I want to see the others doing stuff like what we saw early on.
That said, I still really like this series. The cooking stuff when shown in full is still a lot of fun, and the reactions can be great. While side characters don't get to shine much, they are still lovable and get to have some great moments. My favorite moment from this part of the story is Alice telling Azami she hates him, and that little flashback with her always waiting for a return letter was heart breaking. Also, I don't remember her name but the second seat of the top ten is awesome and I love her character. Hopefully we can get more out of these other characters and have Soma take a backseat soon.

#TeamRindou. She is gonna be officially best girl one of these days.
-
Nah I like Rindou-chan a lot too glad I'm not the only one.
I hope we get a Season 3 of the anime sooner rather than later. I understand the VA for Erina is sick apparently? so it might be a bit longer before we get it

Alice's Dad and The Vampire Queen.
10 out of 10.
Best Chapter.
Best Chapter. -

Impossible, Alice is the cutest girl in the world

Impossible, Alice is the cutest girl in the world
If Leonora is also the cutest girl, then why not three?
Anyway, wasn't Kuga and the twins the highlight of this chapter?
-
please don't die, Takumi
Megumi should be safe, but the Italian Battalion must live on ;-; -
I love that the thread title keep getting longer & better.
Soeu look like he came straight out from Ace Attorney with his eyebrows and he look younger than Azami. Must be the Nakiri gene. I don't think he will take well to Ryou dating his daughter in the future…
Since Alice is pretty much a carbon copy of Leonora, Leonora should be the cutest in the world!:ninja:And Soma vs Hayama ;Takumi-Megumi vs Rindou...meh. We know the rebels are winning it.
Seem like the author want to end this arc asap. We still have 3 more stages and all the rebel are up against Elite 10. The power of friendship will prevail! -

We haven't seen her cook before and she's supposedly very good. Takumi hasn't done anything really prominent in a long time either. Megumi could go either way I suppose.
-
Yes Alice is the cutest girl in the world are her Ryo going to team up if so since Rindou already got her prey the 1st is the only other worthy of taking on Alice/Ryo at once. I much prefer it if those 2 take on the other 2 new Elite Ten members 1 Vs 1.
-

It would be weirder to not have Megumi or Takumi anymore. And besides, if there's anyone in the Elite Ten holding back on their cooking to help out the rebels, it would be Rindou.

I kinda have a feeling we'll get another similarity between her and Jouchirou/Souma and she'll make some random dish on a whim that ends up being kinda gnarly/gross.

Well that's true. I'm curious how it's going to go about. I guess the Elite 10 besides Hayama have nothing on the line besides credibility.
-
I assuming it was just Central pulling shenanigans but why does everyone else appear to be in pairs while Souma is by himself?
-

Probably cause he's viewed as the ringleader.
-
Maybe 2 on 1 is the handicap for the first years, they get to at least team up when they're up against 2nd and 3rd years who by all rights should beat them. Then Souma is on his own because he's facing a fellow 1st year.

Ah that's fair I didn't think about that.
-
The part of this chapter where Alice says they all should/will pass together represents the biggest flaw of this manga. Boilerplate plot aside.
This school from page 1 was told that only a handful of students graduate, that the rest are stones to help polish them. Yet the entire main cast, and some of the dormie side characters are still here, after almost 185 chapters.
This series is WAY too safe, and fails with it's entire premise. Now yes, I am aware that the villain has changed things somewhat, but I'm sorry. When you sell your story on the fact that only a handful of characters are gonna make it through, and that still hasn't happened yet. You have failed in your prime directive.
You know what series did that and actually went through with it? Zatch Bell.
-
It sounds like you wish the rebels to fail this.
i think it's more of a fact that it's way too soon fro this confrontations to happen and they don't seem to have any chance to survive this if not thanks to some "asspull" from the author
more than glad if the author manages to both surprise and been convincing..but as of late this manga has not made much sense anyway
-
This isn't going to end well.
- Rindou hype has been slowly built up for quite a few chapters for now. Her losing will seem too 'worf'-ish/hax (for 1st years)/or give readers the impression that she is all bark and no bite (cyute fangs aside :ninja:)
- Takumi has a much need win, for all his 'feats' by now has been by pure word of ear but no major victories to back it up. His greatest accomplishment I could think of so far is having high food sales in the Moon Banquet Festival and a 'draw' with Souma.
- I don't want Megumi to go ;_;. That aside, she needs a win too, to prove her character and skill growth. Well she had an off-screen battle win but it was against some filler-ish character.
- Like what Halfmetal said, the series is much need of a bold move (not a shitty one like an introduction of a certain 'villain') and make one of the main cast actually have serious consequences (read: expelled) to give other characters a wakeup slap and a live up to its 'cutthroat education' hype.
With the recent performance of the manga I can't say that I have faith towards the author handling this well, though it might turn out to be the redeeming match of the series for me. I'll just keep my hopes low and put bets on a draw happening.
-
Isn't My Hero Academia doing it the same right now?
-
Ever since they've been called Jewels generation by Grandpa Nakiri, it's obvious that Tsukuda is planning to make this generation out of the ordinary.
That and the fact that the number of first year who scored more than 80 in the classic has been described as abnormal.
So, I expect most of them to graduate. At least, the 16 who scored over 80 are likely to reach the 3rd year.
What I could see now is Aoki and Sato failing this exam. Those 2 guys always seemed that characters designed to fail sooner or later.
