I hope that bolt don't hit someone/something else.

Start pre-ordering guys.
Well I am starting to arrange - either I or my friend will pre order it now. No choice.
Great series and it would be shame if it would die-out because of not enough of income.
Also 400pages, hard cover, big sized mangas are very rare - even this speaks a lot about quality of this piece of art.

I already did that although it is quite expensive by now given the euro dollar exchange rate. When I bought the first volume a couple of years ago I paid roughly 13€ and now I m paying 18€ (volume 5 even costs over 20€). Anyways, I'm really curious why this title has weak sales figure: is it the genre or the fact that Kodansha did not promote it very well like some tweet comments suggest it

[Chapter 123](http://Santa, are you real?) English scanlation.
Santa, are you real?
-
Oh Thorkell, you are the Earl we deserve.
-
Thorkell is back, yessssssssssssssssssss.
-
He will die if he gets anymore peace lmao
-
Man, full-eyes was only in one panel but he made a big impression! How charismatic!!
-
-
Those are definitely danish ships. Pirates would also make sense, because raiding heavy loaded ships (on of the most important trade route that time) right before they enter the Dvina river, seems pretty easy and lucrative.
Good job Sigurd, divert them from our heroes
-
Nice flip Thorfinn.
-
Come on SIG, you better make it out alive!
-
You know, I'm with full-eyes on this one. Dick move Gudrid.
-
-
Sig's Faaaaaaace!
-
Damn, that was a great chapter.
-
I think Thorkell is smelling blood. He will try to fight Thorfin for sure. Interesting! Also some nice worldbuilding scenes on the market there.
-
Worst case; Thorkell hunts down Thorfinn out of boredom, demands a rematch and forces Thorfinn to kill him.

Can someone remind me what Floki's issue is? I remember there was something, but it's been a long time since my initial read through.
-
Oh Full Eyes. You're once again show you are the hero we deserves it. And for once I'm glad Kali is with they.

Taken from the Wiki page
Floki is a Jomsviking commander who was one of the principal Viking commanders under Sweyn Forkbeard during the invasion of England and subsequently under Canute. He contracted Askeladd to assassinate his former comrade Thors.
-
I wonder how Thorfinn will react if he were to know what actually happened regarding his father's death.
-
His name is Thorfinn, Thorfinn Karlselfni, KING OF THE VIKINGS!

Thorkell you scheming lovable bastard.
-
Ohhh boy! This looks like it's gonna be sooo much fun! It's a real shame this is a monthly manga. The chapters feel so short :(
-
I am ready for this!!
-
Well maybe someday, when they return from Miklagard and cross the baltic sea again Floki will realize that noone other than Askellad, Hild, Thorkell and maybe a badass varangian guard will pose an actual threat to Thorfinn.
-
I really need to get caught up on this manga. Is Floki seriously back again? I haven't seen him since like the earlier chapters when Thorfinn was still a child, looking for vengeance after his father's death.
-
He never disappeared actually, I think. He's in the farm arc too.
-
-
The circle is closing :)
I could have sworn the old panel was bigger
-
It still missing the daggers….
-
I wonder how many people will Thorfinn leave seriously injured?
-
I'm still not sure whether to love or to hate Hild. On the one hand, there's that badass woman who kills bears for fun and isn't scared by anything or anyone while on the other hand all that revenge shtick is getting on my nerves. I'm fairly sure at some point she'll help Thorfinn or maybe even forgive and accept him, but for now I'm a bit torn on that matter.
As for Thorfinn's imminent fight- I'm looking forward to it. Ever since he stopped fighting and changed his ways to a more peaceful approach, I've been dying to see the Thorfinn of old again, however brief that fight might be.

Randomly came across the newest chapter and surprisingly I saw the city I live in being mentioned - which is a first, so now I'm definitely interested.
Is this manga worth reading?

I love it. The prologue is absolutely awesome, then it "slows down"…but it never really stops being great (also, the Farm Arc is better if you read it in one go, I had monthly chapters so...)

It's quite good. Well worth the read if you are somewhat interested in stories that mix history with fiction. Also, when you start reading from the first chapter, know that it was running in a shounen magazine first and then switched to a seinen one after a while. Also going from weekly to monthly publication doing so. Imo it got a whole lot better when it did. So keep reading through those early chapters.
-
Alright, thanks guys, I'll make sure to give it a try :)

It's my 2nd favourite Historical manga after Lone Wolf and Cub, and one of my favourite on-going manga series. It's a must read.
-
I put this manga in my Top 10, deciding if it's in my Top 5. I've just taken such a massive liking to it. Curiously, I truly started to love it once the violence toned down, cause that's when the true ambition of the author becomes clear.

I cannot comprehend how lots of people clamour to have Prologue Saga Thorfinn back.
I just can't.
There simply wasn't much to him. He was an almost two-dimensional edgy avenger mc who's appeal was limited to his cool fight scenes, symphathetic backstory and the potential for development. The prologue was carried by other characters and if you go back, you'll notice he has less panel time than the others, because he was ultimately less compelling than the rest of the cast. No, seriously, Prologue is "Askellad, Canute and Thorkell Show feat. Thorfinn". All the political intrigue and cool stuff was down to what other characters were doing, Thorfinn was pretty much there to brood and be "badass". Even good ol' Askellad was getting tired of his shit by the end of it.
Current Thorfinn is a rounded character who can actually carry a goddamn story by himself, the "badass" Thorfinn was fine as a stage of his ongoing character developmen, but boy would I be getting bored out of my damn mind if I had to watch his one note self without an Askellad or two to make things compelling.

They do? Thats news to me. I heard lots of praise about this manga, but juvenile Thorfins personality ain't what it was about :P

Why did you have to remind me of Askellad? God, he was too damn awesome!! I miss that King Arthur's descendant-disguised-as-a-viking! Who the hell would come up with such an idea? Amazing!
-
Askeladd is one of my all time favourite antagonists. Up there with Friend, Johan, Desty Nova, Jashugan, Hyodo, Aga Mbadi, Ichijou, Griffith, Thorkell, En, Noi, Shin (Dorohedoro), Ebisu, Fujita (dorohedoro), Tonegawa, Yagyu Retsudo, Yoshikage Kira, Funny Valentine, Pucci and DIO.
At-least we still have Thorkell.
-
Askeladd can be considered an antagonist?
-
Yes he would be considered as an antagonist, but not a villain.

Loved the callback to Snake.
