@theinvisibleworm:
Actually, logic is always correct, though I think it's a dull system. You can feel free to feel clever in believing that logic can create false conclusions, though.
I will. Thanks.
My simple proof of this is that religious people use logic to say and/or prove God exists - and others use it to do exactly the opposite. Both of them can't be right - therefor logic can't be infallible.
Believing this doesn't make me feel superior by the way, I was just stating my opinion on logic - especially logic in a fictional world.
@theinvisibleworm:
I wonder if Roger had the same kinds of bonds that Luffy did, if he didn't, then the score would be against the strawhats with regards of the types of people who made it to Raftel.
The show certainly points toward him being as strong and easy a friend as Luffy, what with what people from Drum (Dr. Kureha), Skypiea (Sky Knight), the guy with Laboon. They all only spent small periods of time in his company but remember him well, and remember him fondly - same as people do with Luffy.
@theinvisibleworm:
Would you mind recapping just how he picked them up? Should Luffy have lost to arlong, to Krieg, to Crocodile, to Wapol, exactly how would he have any of them?
Luffy helped each crew member out of a bind, a bind which involved fighting - but simply beating the opponent was never enough to convince them to join him in and of itself. His personality, and the simple willingness to help out others - especially those like him amongst other things played as much of a part as fisticuffs in convincing any and all crew members to join him.
If Luffy hadn't shown Chopper that just because he thought he was monstrous didn't mean that he didn't consider him cool, that he didn't consider him an individual and a friend Chopper wouldn't have joined. This can be applied to most of the crew in some manner.
@theinvisibleworm:
they are pivotal plot maneuvers and generally stimulate just as much emotion as Robin crying or whatever (like when Luffy finally defeats Crocodile).
Never said they didn't.
@theinvisibleworm:
By the way, since I'm feeling nice, I'll spell it out for you.
Condescension - on the internets? :wassat:
**@theinvisibleworm:
The fight with Aokiji was a blatant demonstration of the fact that Luffy's love for his Nakama is not nearly enough to get him through the grand line.**
And I'll spell it out for you.
I'M. NOT. ARGUING. THAT.
I'm saying that the techniques they learn along the way from and for fighting mainly only help in fighting the people that are getting in their way - not in getting around the natural obstacles to Raftel itself. Which was part of the OP's point.
And is what I'm trying to talk about.
Okay?
And yes, just so ye know, I am actually frothing at the mouth, and I think its going to damage my keyboard - so feel free to tell me to calm down because any conflict on the internet obviously involves the other party being a raving lunatic with anger management issues.
@theinvisibleworm:
If Zoro had not cut the sea train in half, the strawhats would be drifting at sea. If Zoro hadn't cut through the doors in the tower of justice, they'd be stuck there (though in that specific case, Luffy probably could have used gear 3.
Just so you know, thats another example of them fighting people who are getting in their way, not using said techniques to get around the barriers to Raftel - which is what I'm trying to talk about - but no one else seems to care about that part of the original post for some reason.
@theinvisibleworm:
I don't understand why people fail to understand the rather simple concept of the strawhats using their experience to their own advantage, saving themselves where they otherwise couldn't.
And I rather fail to understand how no one else is able to understand my also rather simple point - but the world is like that - what with everyone being differant and all.
