Then, what about BnHA?
What he learned from the mistakes of the 2 previous works I guess.

So, shounen-ish or non shounen-ishi?
@Kaizou:
So, shounen-ish or non shounen-ishi?
Hmmmm, lets go with non shounen-ishi.
Hmmmm, lets go with non shounen-ishi.
Is it?
Oumagadoki's case is good, but the concept, itself, isn't really suitable to become a hit series (plus, the early chapters are pretty slow). For Bulge, it tried to be more shounen-like than Oumagadoki, but the story was just awful since chapter 3. BnHA is actually the shounen series which everything done right (fast paced at the early chapters, cool characters, and cool moves).
So, for me, BnHA is actually the REAL shounen manga.
I wasn't into it after chapter 1, but I got more invested after chapter 2.
A bit of a mix of what Zoo and Bulge was in the start then.

For me, BnHA was far more greater than Zoo and Bulge. After I read chapter 1, I acknowledged that the author finally learned from his mistakes.
Third times the charm as they say.
@Kaizou:
Then, what about BnHA?
Like Kagex3 said, he learned from his mistakes. Horikoshi found the right balance between his own originality and the shonen-ness required to succeed in SJ, and it shows. It's my favorite series running in Jump right now.
Assuming Kaito follows the same path as Horikoshi (if Buddy Strike gets cancelled), I do hope her third series is the one where she finally makes it big. Cross Manage showed that she has talent; it's just a matter of finding her groove in a shonen manga that really resonates with the readers.

Simply because 2015 is a year with 53 weeks. It happens every 5.6 years, last time was 2009.

Ooo I didn't realize Gunjou no Magmel was getting back to back volume releases! I feel like this series could be the first original Jump+ series to blow up in popularity. It really remind me of HxH.

Unfortunately, it isn't even close to that sign; heck, it even sold less than Zeke.

Bummer. What are your thoughts on the series?
As for Zeke.. I read a couple chapter but it just felt overly edgey for me.

I feel like they do a pretty poor job of promoting Jump+ stuff, I don't think anything has it made past 4-5 volume?... maybe these special chapters in WSJ will help get stuff off the ground.
What are your thoughts on the series?
I think it is good; I agree with your thoughts on having HxH vibe. If HxH fans are tired of waiting for its resume, then they should pass their time by reading Magmel.

For sure. I am surprised it hasn't gotten any attention from the west yet as far as I've seen. Would be really popular for sure if some scanlator group picks it up.
@Kaizou:

Honestly.. I have a hard time because no furigana. Need to get better at japanese.
I feel like they do a pretty poor job of promoting Jump+ stuff
Well, it is being promoting through WSJ and its magazine. Furthermore, it is free to read it. It is just people are not interested as much.
I don't think anything has it made past 4-5 volume?…
Well, some series are serializing bi-weekly and some are serializing monthly. But, they are serializing like smaller length than regular weekly series (like KissxDeath serialize like 13 - 15 pages within 2 weeks and Kosame-chan is serializing 16 pages per month). So, it needs more time to surpass that.

Need to get better at japanese.
You should practice by reading more seinen series (in raw of course).
I see. And yeah, haha.
I think maybe having the first chapter of a series run in WSJ or YJ could be a nice way to generate interest. I know it isn't Shueisha but (I think) it worked pretty out pretty well for Pygmalion? (that new series by Horikoshi's former assistant)

So, are you saying that the first chapter releasing in the magazine worked for that series? Or are you saying that kind of advertisement would have made that series popular?

So, are you saying that the first chapter releasing in the magazine worked for that series? Or are you saying that kind of advertisement would have made that series popular?
They ran first chapter in Comic Garden to get it attention before it started in Beats. Plus I guess Horikoshi gave it shout outs… I learned of it from BNHA thread on Baidu back then; don't really follow anything in CG except for Sengoku Youko and Mahou Tsukai no Yome.. lol :happy:

I don't really think that doesn't really work as well since I saw that kind of promotion on Shounen Sunday (and I believe Shounen Magazine did that as well). But, it really didn't work. Those kinds of promotion only worked for Shingeki no Kyojin and One Punch-man (however, those two are for special chapter, not releasing first chapter). So, unless the series really catches the audience, that promotion doesn't really work well.
Furthermore, Comic Garden is like really minor magazine, just getting good reception doesn't make the series popular.
Also, same goes for popular author giving a shot outs. Isayama did something his assistant's new series, but nothing really much happened.
So, it basically about whether the series is popular through general audience or not. If the series is really interesting, then people will pick up no matter where it serialized.
I see, makes sense. In that case I hope Gunjou no Magmel can drum up some popularity before it gets canceled. :sad:

Yes, that is their only work as far as I'm aware. Genjuui Toteku was the winner of this Golden Future Cup, and while I definitely agree with it winning and being the best one-shot among the bunch, I think that Galaxy Gangs was the second best(imo) and that it felt the most serialization-ready out of all the entrants.
Btw, what's that series in your signature?
Not actually manga related. From a french artist/illustrator called Mcbess.
@Kaizou:
Also, there going to be an one shot by Ishikawa Ryou.
Oops. I guess I glanced over that part. lol
Any idea on the reading of the title?
I thought it was Ishiyama though, unless there's another reading to that kanji. His oneshot in Jump Nezt was pretty good but it didn't seem like it would be a fit for Jump.

Yeah, you're correct. Hopefully his writing has improved this time around and makes it more suited for Jump. I really didn't like Mitsukubi Condor at all.

For me, I enjoyed that series. Well, the early parts are pretty boring, but the story actually improved much (too bad it didn't bring the readers).
