Yeah, I would say it is one of the better VAH figures so far (Sabo by far the worst). Although pretty hard to stuff up a chopper figure imho.
Megahouse have really gone off the boil now….....Things were going so well up until about 18 months ago (Megahobby Spring 2014). Toy Soldier Kyros, Chibi Becca, Fujitora, Sugar, Viola, LAO G! They all looked great and I was really excited for them, but shortly after they started to lose momentum.
The 10th Anniversary Ace, 2nd Nami Mugiwara Ver and Law Ver. 2.5. along with the cancellation of Lao G were an obvious sign they were moving towards exploiting the cash cows rather than offering the variety we had become accustomed to.
Then started the endless MILD re-tools.......I'd never seen a company re-tool so many figures and then re-release them on mass in this way before. It totally killed the after market value of the originals and was a real FU from Megahouse.
I thought they had redeemed themselves slightly at last November's Expo with Kid, Killer, Sabo & Koala, I was all set to get the 4 of them, but the price tags were the final nail in the coffin for me. I mean 10K yen retail for Sabo and then 14K yen retail for Kid?? Sorry Megahouse, but you lost me there.....on top of that making Kid a Web Exclusive forcing his price to now skyrocket to nearly 20K yen!! If they had kept them all as regular releases for around 8K yen I would have carried on collecting.
Every event this year from Jump Festa to CharaHobby has been a wash out imho with the only new things shown this year being 3 BB figures, Corazon/Law and SA Luffy 2.
Anyone who knows me from over the years will tell you I've never had a bad word to say about Megahouse and always defended them up until recently, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to stay positive. Will Megahobby Expo change how I feel. I highly doubt it, but we'll find out in 25 days.
