I can see Kougyoku getting killed by Ninja Girl in order to hype her, she would be the perfect foil for her(she only lost 1 fight and that was vs Sinbad).

What the Hell is going on now. I take it Judar died, went back to ugo's place and Ugo revived him and sent him somewhere but why Alibaba?
-
So…. Alibaba turned into a cactuar? Can he just stay like this forever please?
-
Anyone who thought for a second that Alibaba wouldn't come back was delusional. I have read enough manga to know that unless I'm reading something dark like Berserk / Jojo, the main characters don't die, ever. On that note, I can't even remember the last time someone important died in Berserk.
-
I was a little worried until I saw spoiler pics last week. I hoped it would make more sense when I read the scan, but alas…
The current situation shouldn't last that long, otherwise Alibaba's corpse will start to decompose, but there's really no telling how time passes in this dimension or how long Ohtaka decides to go with Judar and Alibaba's bizzare adventure.

The problem is how awful and clunky the execution is. We spent an entire chapter previously going "Oh whoah is us, Alibaba is gone forever and there's nothing that can be done!" An entire arc really setting up these dramatic stakes and the author just flushed them down the toilet on the drop of a hat because COMEDY ugh
-
It takes even more away from the drama that in the very same chapter we saw a desperate Morgiana clinging to her king's corpse Alibaba makes his return in the most comedic way possible. Certainly, it was funny to read in the end but in the bigger picture the whole tragedy surrounding Alibaba dying, Aladdin accepting it and his household mourning woefully becomes one big joke.
A shame, Ohtaka. You had me there for a second I admit. But you blew it, girl.
Heck, even Judar supposedly dying or being condemned to drift through space for all eternity (you know, something ridiculously cruel and horrible) was undone in the blink of an eye.

well it's not like anyone that is not 4 years old thought that alibaba was really gone..so to me it's actually a plus that they didn't concentrate too much on them grieving
-
I friggin lost it. This was too much for my body… Shinobu is both a great writer and an expert troll. Just when you thought the drama would be getting worse, all of a sudden Alibaba is throw in, turned into something that resembles a mix of Alphonse and a Cactuar. Genius!
-
I'm not surprised with how she executed Alibaba's reveal. She pretty much always downplays drama when it comes to him. I didn't mind how this chapter went. I still felt bad for Aladdin, Mor and Alibaba's household. Oh and that one princess. As far as they know they lost a friend.
I'm still interested in seeing how this plays out.

Yep. For us readers we already know Alibaba will be ok in the end. But not for Aladdin, Mor and Alibaba's household. In their minds Alibaba's gone, and that's all that matters. Put yourselves in their companions place, you wouldn't be thinking "it's fine guys, he'll be back".
-
Really looking forward to seeing Alibaba's and Judar's adventure
-
so..do we know exactly what hugo did to judar?
-
Are they gonna need to capture a dungeon in order to find Alibaba?
-
I laughed. I am not sure that's a good thing tho. I really like the seriousness of Alibaba disappearance and how we seeing the impact on his friends. By the end of the chapter all of that was gone for me. A shame after the last chapter. I really don't believe that just because Ali would come back it was a good idea to have it that way.
I guess Judar and Alibaba will have some good antics.
-

Judging by the line "beyond the darkness of the universe" i suppose Judar and Alibaba are in the soul realm because Judar can't use magic. Just as bubbles are in Ugo's sacred palace, souls are as a recycle logo in the soul realm. Ugo simply put him there because if Judar falls from the dimension, i suppose he could have died.
Shame on Aladdin that could not try to ask Ugo instead looking in the mankind memories for answers.
Neat chapter.
Btw, love Nekketsu's idea, when you enter/exit a dungeon, you're travelling between dimensions which could be the place where Judar and Alibaba are, they have to break that spinning tunnel and enter.
-

What if
What if
What if Alibaba went full Brook and came back as a skeleton king.
-
I'm somewhat happy I read the last two chapters at once, so I had less time to mull over the sadness of it all before Cactus Alibaba showed up and said no. The chapter two weeks ago was super, super sad though, one of the saddest I've read in any series for a while. I'd rather focus on that and give as much credit to Ohtaka as I can, because it was a really, really good chapter.
-
Alibaba's charisma is a very funny stuff, comes from getting bullied. Nice chapter, i rolf'd a lot.
-
The hollow drama aside, regarding #256
! I only read the Spanish version but what I saw seemed pretty darn entertaining. Judar and Alibaba seem to work very well comedy-wise and to me it looks like Alibaba's character is growing on Judar as well (illustrated by a particular panel at the end of the chapter). But once more, comedy antics take the cake in that chapter. And Cactus Alibaba of course.

! This is actually something I wanted to see. Had a feeling they might get along. Imagine Judar changing his mind completely by the end of all this? Wouldn't be beyond Alibaba to do something like this.

Finally the chapters got translated.
And shit is about to go down.

I totally forgot who is the Wind Metal Vessel Princess and who is the Water Metal Vessel Princess.
-

The second has two k in his name.
Man… Judal deserves a punch.
-
I totally forgot who is the Wind Metal Vessel Princess and who is the Water Metal Vessel Princess.
Wind Metal Vessel (Paimon) belongs to Hakuei, Hakuryuu's sister.
Water Metal Vessel (Vinea) belongs to Kougyoku, Kouen's sister. -
I don't want Haku to win and all that, but I sure do hope that he at least manages to behead Kouen. Very unlikely to happen, but man would I enjoy it (I basically hate his character the most in the whole series and I'm including Gyouken and Judar in that statement)
-
Dark cloud is looming over Koumei, that's for sure.
He's either going to lose or the fight won't have a clear victor, but Koumei's side will have it worse.
-
The hype of this arc is probably the biggest in Shounen since Marineford.

Eh… no.
Came to realize suddenly, please do not let Haku being part of the White Dragon race. My only hope for the war.
-
I would rather have an arc with the adventures of Judar and the Doll than this war.
-
If this is anything like the Magnostatd war I'm not looking forward to viewing it one chapter at a time.
-
No kidding. Maybe it would be best to just not show the most of the battle that is to come. We've already seen most of what Kouen's metal vessels and households can do during Magnostadt. On the other hand, it would make sense to keep Haku's side mystery, for the most part, since he's probably going to survive this.
Then again, Ohtaka might opt to show horrors of Haku's ways or something.
-
Haku side is as such disadvantage that anything they accomplish will be a big deal.
-

I really doubt he's as disadvantaged as Kouen's side thinks. Haku obviously thought he had a shot even without Judar. If that girl represents ninja clan, Haku might choose to fight indirectly, with ambushes and stealth assassinations before he meets them in the open battlefield.
There's also his metal vessel combination. There's no telling how many household members with hax abilities he could have.
The last chapter practically screams Haku is more dangerous than they believe. "Aladin says Haku has some unknown allies, but it's probably nothing much." translates to "Haku's unknown trump will be the deciding factor."

I also doubt he is. What I meant was that considering how much far from Kouen he is theoretically even if he rely push them back it will be considered a huge accomplishment of Haku from a reader's perspective. That's the advantage of being written as the underdog.
-
I'd like it if the jungle actually contained one of the dungeons or was a dungeon itself. Technically, Alibaba and Judar might get transported back to their planet that way. Alibaba could even get his second metal vessel. There's only a problem of where exactly a djinn would place himself in Alibaba's current condition.
In any case, Alibaba and Judar adventure should be really fun, dungeon or no dungeon.

It is the most interesting thing in the manga right now.

It is the most interesting thing in the manga right now.
There's always something appealing in 2 former and possibly future enemies working together. Judar will probably learn to respect Alibaba during their adventure. Or at the very least, see a little of what Aladin saw in him.
Ohtaka has shown she's a lot better in smaller scoped adventures like these than in large scale battles. So, I'm practically hoping most of the conflict between Koumei and Haku army gets skipped. I think the story can gain a lot more from us not seeing everything and leaving some things hidden.
(I have a feeling Ohtaka will just show the battle to showcase Haku's surprises, though.)

The story seems to borrow a lot of inspiration from The Three Kingdoms and with no Alibaba we're not anywhere near close enough to start removing factions from the board in a meaningful way. Alibaba must return and establish himself as a king before Hakuryuu starts eroding his brother's territory.
As for Alibaba and Judar, I want to see begrudging respect from Judar but I want that to grow in tandem to his loathing of Alibaba. I want this arc to be the one which finally puts Alibaba on the map as the ruler incumbent (even if he tries to find another way).
-
Yeah, I wouldn't really want Judar to turn into Alibaba fangirl all of a sudden. That would be a massive character 180 after all he had said and done. But who the hell knows.
It's also possible Ohtaka plans to thin the forces of the major players out, so that in the endgame, there aren't massive armies, but smaller forces. That might actually make Alibaba and Balbadd considerable players in the finale.

A proof Alma Toran flashback almost killed the series, did worse than FT volumes(which is embarrasing).
-
Alibaba is ugh. So frustrating. I can see where Judar is coming from.
I like that Kouen's army is treating this situation with respect. They're not resting on their superior army size or the metal vessels. They completely understand the stakes. Had it been written any other way Haku's victory would seem assured but now I'm not as sure. I expect a major defeat of Kouen's army during a battle but the end of the war could take some time.

Did anyone doubt that. It's like the Sinbad shit, I can't stand it. But at least the Alma Toran stuff kinda made sense. The Sindbad getting its own spin-off is just fucking perplexing, the artwork is second rate and ultimately he's gonna reveal himself to be a giant douchebag in the main story anyway.

Alibaba is ugh. So frustrating. I can see where Judar is coming from.
Despite finding him frustrating on occasion, I really actually like him. In fact all his issues stem from the author's desire to be a constant underdog. He's yet to actually do anything bad while being away from his body though.
! But alas, you'll be happy to know that the Korean scanlation is out and he's not featured in the next chapter at all.
-
Oh, fuck.
! Well, better to find out early than to hope and get disappointed while reading.

Sorry, just realised that should've been in a spoiler tag.
