OP related: Jump Shops in Suidoubashi or Tokyo Station; Mugiwara Store in Shibuya Parco
Non-OP related:
-riding the Yamanote line around and around
-people-watching in Shinjuku station
-Walk down some dark alleys and try random hole-in-the-wall noodle places
-Akihabara for otaku sensory overload
-visit Odaiba island (~half day trip)
-town of Kamakura (day trip; tons of temples on self-led walking tour)
-Mt. Takao (also day trip; a mild-intensity hike with nice views and temples and stuff at top)Skippable:
-Disneyland/sea
-Tokyo Tower and Sky TreeI honestly probably never really experienced Tokyo as much as I should have, but I definitely recommend those day trips, if possible.

Try to visit other cities, not only Tokyo. They are really beautiful in their own Way. Kyoto is so beautiful. So much. Also, go to Ise.
-
GO TO THE INAKA. Don't get cooped up in Tokyo yo
My number one favorite sight is Miyajima, it'd be fun if you went there without even knowing anything about it and just experienced it with entirely fresh eyes
-
Oh my god, i almost forget! You must go to Nara! They have so much beautiful art in there! I just cried when i saw those beautiful Statues!! Oh, and there's deers so there's that.
-
Seconding Nara if you can. Deer + Daibutsu + it's just a really nice and manageable small city.
-
Did you know that Yamagata is the best prefecture and way better than Miyagi
-
Not going to argue that. No love for any inaka.

Deer aren't so great. I see about 50-100 a day and they keep eating all of my plants I try to go. They also aren't scared of my car being right next to them, on, with the lights on.
I guess if you never see them….turkey too. Too many damn birds :)
I've never been to Japan BUT, after watching GameCenter CX, it makes me want to go everywhere BUT Tokyo. For some reason I really want to go to Hokkaido, it looks a lot like where I live.

Thank you very much everyone. I have almost one month so i will not only stay in tokyo. It is only my first stop. Kyoto i planed as well :-)
-
Oh! Kyoto too!
My personal favorites there are Kinkakuji (Read Mishima's "The Temple of the Golden Pavilion" beforehand if you really want it to have an impact on you) and Kiyomizudera. -
Check out Yakushima if you can, it looks amazing

Also, there's some house that imitates the Heian era or something like that in Kyoto. It's so beautiful.

Oh god, people trying to talk to me in japanese everywhere and i do not understand one word… :-D

At the moment i am at Shinjuku station and watching people. What is special there?Friday and weekend nights. It's just full of interesting people occasionally doing crazy things in their drunkenness.

I lived in japan for 2 years but I don't think the city (Iwakuni. not sure if I spelled that right) I lived in is near Tokyo but I remember going to a japanese restaurant with grills on the tables and just got some rice and noodles man it was so good and we had some authentic fried dumplings (gyoza) it was all so delicious.
