The age old debate. I've been ferociously debating this subject with my friends, and I'm a LoZ fan through and through. Mind you, Kingdom Hearts is a pretty fun game, and the sequel looks pretty cool. But…I find Legend of Zelda to be the far superior game series. NOTHING, and I mean nothing will beat out Ocarina of Time as the best game I've ever played. Which side do you take?:ninja:
Kingdom Hearts versus Legend of Zelda

Both are great.
-
they both rock  but kingdom hearts took me a while to finish completly but they both rock no matter what
-
yes, both may be awesome. But which is it you prefer? I Personally due to past games prefer Zelda. Sure kingdom hearts is fun and all but zelda is one of the most fun puzzle games i have ever played. Orcarina Of Time was a phenomonol game. Not only was it alot of fun but the music was kind of catchy too (especially saria's song). Second to Orcarina you have A Link To The Past. Not only was that the game that got me into Zelda but i played that so many times when SNES was the big system.
While on the other hand Kingdom Hearts has alot of characters we know and love. Its combat is also better then Zeldas. Although its music isn't as good. Graphics are also better but those don't matter to me at all. Sure kingdom hearts is a great game but wheres the comedic possibility? It doesn't have enough free roam or even freedom for comedy. Where as in LOZ Link's Awakening you do something oh so fun. Steal something from a store, then go back in and get zapped to death. Plus theres those chickens, oh how those chickens hurt you so.
Yet once again i go with good ol' Legend Of Zelda
-
Go Zelda, your the reason I like video games.
-
…. puts Zelda on his Buulist
-
not to diss kigdom hearts, but Zelda is a great classic. I need not explain why.
Kingdom Hearts, while it has lots of good elements to make a game, I can't get past the gimick of using popular charicters from other places as the reason to attract someone to a game. If your a good game, you can make it on your own.
Also, sorry to disagree with ya lalala, but I hate the game play for KH. I don't like complex battle systems, in real time game play. It's too complicated for me. Trying to organise and sort through these cards to attack, while some guy is taking whacks at me. I perfer the simple zelda method of face the guy and tap the heck out of the attack button. There, the guy is dead.
-
I liked Zelda but quit it coz it only released for Nintendo consoles. (I bought Playstation 2).

….please tell me you don't think thee Kingdom Hearts is Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories....
-
Kingdom Hearts. It's a lot more fun to play. Zelda is more satisfactory and I don't like the battle system.
-
Wait, Age old Debate? I thought the age old debate was FF vs Zelda?
Anyways, I choose Zelda, I found it to be much more fun, and to be a better game overall.
-
Any discussion of KH2 needs to have this comic linked.
-
….please tell me you don't think thee Kingdom Hearts is Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories....
really…chain of memories is much different. kingdom hearts has a real simple battle system. its basically just hitting the X button alot.
-
I think I enjoyed Chain of Memories more than Kingdom Hearts 1….but yes, this is a Kingdom Hearts discussion, Chain of Memories counts as a Kingdom Hearts game.
-
well captain usopp only mention COM gameplay and not the PS2 series.
-
Does it really matter? Somebody could just comment on say, the Zelda CD-I games and you'd still have to accept that as part of the Zelda series.
-
zelda all the way
-
Zelda CD-I?
and yes it does matter. judging kingdom hearts on chain of memories just isn't right. they're two totally different games.
-
Um, no they arent.
Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories is set in between KH1 and KH2, the only difference is that the battle system is changed to a card format, its still the same series.
As for Zelda CD-Is, they were released about 15 year ago or so, a trio of terrible games for some other console.
-
ok. what i meant to say is kingdom hearts is being judged on Chain Of Memories battle system. the battle system is completely different thus the whole series should not be judged poorly due to that battle system.
-
Hmmmm, that is a good point, then I have to agree, although it does make sense that people who haven't played KH for the PS2 can still judge the KH series by the game they have played, which would be KH:CoM
-
@1:
Wait, Age old Debate? I thought the age old debate was FF vs Zelda?

That was the old age old debate. Now we debate KH versus LoZ. @.@
-
The battle system can make the game. It'd be better to judge by the PS2 games.
I have to go with Zelda. Though I've only played WW, A Link to the Past for the GBA, and one og the GBC games (OotA, I think >.>). I never owned a N64, though I watched my cousins play.
Kingdom Hearts is great (I've logged 20 or so hours on KH 2 now) but I just think Zelda is deeper. I dunno, fuller.
-
Its sad Kingdom Hearts is losing to some elf in tights. o_o But I do understand, Zelda has been around for a long time and it has a huge fanbase. Kingdom Hearts is on its way tho.
-
As long as Square don't sell out and make KH into an FF-style series, I'll be happy. Another game and that'll probably be it.
-
There's nothing wrong with KH, but I have to go with LoZ. Ocarina of Time was and is the game of my life.
-

some elf in tights? That's like saying Kingdom Hearts is about a 10 year old and his gay fag gay gay gay homo queer imaginary friend stuffed puppet animal pals.
I don't even see where there's a debate. They're two good, very different games. Who gives a damn.
-
@1:
Anyways, I choose Zelda, I found it to be much more fun, and to be a better game overall.
You suck.
Anyway, if I chose between them, I'd choose Kingdom Hearts. Fun game, versus an elf in tights…. oh, sorry. A HYRULIAN. He's not an elf at all, nope.
Stupid Zelda... and Zelda fanboys/fangirls. They really killed that series for me.
-
You know, your fanboyism doesn't really help KH either.
-
I'm not a KH fanboy. I think it's a solid title, that's all.
I'm more an anti-Zelda fanboy…. if that makes any sense.
I'm a Suikoden fanboy, though.
-
Kingdom Hearts seems to be more of a "fighting" game, while Zelda concentrates on puzzles and ingenuitive stuff. Being that I suck at thinking problems, I prefer Kingdom Hearts' button mashing.
… oh, and no bashing, etc. I sound like a frickin' skipped record by now, don't I?
-

I didn't mean you specifically, I emant KH fanboys in general. They kind of creep me out.
-
sorry, never owned a ps2, never played kingdom heart
and also a nintendo fanboy
(but not immature 7 years old fanboys that runs around yelling about how the other consoles sucks type like the ones you see in the Nsider forum, mind you)therefore
goes to zelda's cornersomebody gimme a free ps2 and I'll play it though : )
-
Buu, I respect your love of KH, but you'd make my day if you at least tried Zelda. If you still hate it, then bash away, be my guest. :)
As for lalala, and Omae discussing my chain of memories experience:
Ah, I didn't know the battle system was different than the PS2 games. I just asumed they were the same. (I watched someone play the first game, but never played it myself) I'm glad to hear the PS2 battle system is less complex. I still stand by my coment about being uncomfy with obsessive cameos.
Go anderson also menchioned about KH being fighting, Zelda being puzzle. Ya, I like puzzle. :)
-
I can't play Zelda. Period.
-
I can't play Zelda. Period.
Yes you can. You have the internet, which means access to ROMS.
No more excuses.
-
Pixel games don't give games justice. Such as captain usopp judging KH on Chain of Memories. There are always excuses.
-
-
Read caption usopp's impression of KH and think reeeaaal hard.
-
Just because Captain Usopp appeared tojudge the series on one game doesn't mean you have to follow. Go play A Link to the Past and get your own opinion.
Check this thread for ROM sites.

I mean no disrespect towards anyone.

hmmm…....
hmmmmmmmmmmm......
mmmmm..........
mmmhmmmmm........
Nope, don't feel like it.
-
I have only played kingdom hearts for 20 minutes but it would never compare to Zelda for me. LoZ is one of the greatest story games of all time. One only needs to play link to the past or ocarina of time to see that.
One of the greastest moments in my gaming life was the moment you first step onto Hyrule field in OoT. That game started a new shift in the way we play games.
Kingdom hearts is a good game and has a big fan following but it just seems too much like alot of other games out there. -
I'm sorry, but it's absolutely no contest for me. Zelda has just plain better gameplay (I don't understand why anyone would think there is button-mashing involved, since there isn't) and I really prefer it in quite possibly every single aspect. Too many judge Zelda by just the 3D ones (namely Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker) and fail to realize that there are ten other games in the series, pretty much all of them classics. There hasn't been a single Zelda game that has let me down, unlike Kingdom Hearts coughChain of Memoriescough and it's just got this great feel of the good old days of gaming. The one thing about Zelda that makes the series so great and epic is that even through twelve games, it manages to remain fresh and I still look forward to every new installment. One thing to note, though, is that both series have very creepy fanboy groups (I'd say they're about equally loud-mouthed and weird).
In short, Zelda FTW ^^
-
geez, Buu, it's not like I judged something without trying it.
I just made a simple asumption based on one of a series of games.
If I only played megaman 3 and made the same asumption about game play I would be right. Now that I've been corrected, I'll asume the other 2 games have decent play control, until I actually try them and decide otherwise. At least I gave it a chance. And my feelings about KH is not based soley on the game play. KH has a lot of good features, but it doesn't keep me intersted the same as zelda.
-
Forget Zelda and KH, we have Michael Jacksons Dance off (I think thats what it was called)
-
its called michael jackson's moonwalker…and yes people there are zombies.
-
i say Kingdom Hearts will win,:
1.Sora had more skills(dodge roll,Srike raid,sonic blade)It ought to whip link's butt.
2.Sora had party members,(Imagine 3 vs 1)
3.Sora defeated the god of the underworld Hades,Ansem and Sephorth. -
Your points make me want to play devils advocate.
Sora had skills, but Link had lots of weapons
3vs 1: hey, Link did it all by himself, no help
and as for the "underworld" didn't Ganon take over the underworld.
(yes, I realise hyrule and KH's worlds are different, I'm still making this point) -
I'm done with this argument. they're better by opinion. and my opinion is the Kingdom Hearts will always own you and your elf-dude. So shove it, cabbage butt…
