sometimes i don't understand toei at all, i can't understand how they chose deguchi to animate such an important episode, the art was VERY bad at some parts, but well besides that nice episode :)
522: ''Everyone's Together Again - Luffy Sets Sail for the New World''
-
-
Very nice episode, for some reason sanji blasting off like a rocket due to the nose bleed killed me lol
that was the best part for me, i shed tears from all the laughing :D
-
Does anyone else find the bubble technology a lot easier to understand in the anime?
Like when it expands over the ship.
Also I agree with people who says it really feels like One Piece now the crew is back together.
May they never be parted. -
yep tear shedding episode, nice to see them all back together !
can't wait to see them adventuring again <3
-
Aw, Perona looked so sad when she said she had to find someone new to replace Zoro.
-
A very touching episode with a lot of tears… Loved the flashback on Luffy's training . Loved the Manly tears from Rayleigh.
And i couldn't help myself crying when they reunited ... After 100 episodes,we will see them again on adventures !! <3 -
Episode was nice, it made me lol at some parts, also pacing was nice. Animation looked great at some parts towards the end, specially Sanji kicking the cannon ball. Next week looks okay.
Sanji and Brook were hilarious. lol
Training scene was a great addition. Loved it!

here is my question regarding this episode:
in rayleigh's flashback to training luffy, he was making luffy try to sense his surroundings, this was obviously luffy's coo haki, rayleigh of course also has this haki, so shouldn't rayleigh have been able to predict that luffy was going to dodge the stick in the first place? because luffy would be able to predict rayleigh's movements…
if they predicted eachother movements, than doesn't that make that entire training part rather useless?
-
In the mangas he is only shown hitting Luffy with the stick:
http://www.mangareader.net/103-58300-2/one-piece/chapter-602.html the rest is Toei stuff. -
we didn'y get to see that okama chewing on a marine :(

THIS. I was looking forward to that >:(
-
Sanji seemed more of a creeper in the anime the way he kept smelling Perona….
And with the part where Brook said he has no soul...Is it a mistranslation in the subs?Cause in the manga, he said his heart/chest is convulsing,so maybe it was subbed as 'soul' to go with his theme...
I liked the added bit of Luffy having Observation Color training.
And the score when the bird was flying over the Sunny was very touching
I also liked the 'squishing' sound when they walked on the coated floor
-

It was too disturbing. The kids need a rest after the cucumber.

I'm pretty sure Rayleigh is skilled enough to not use Haki. For instance, Coby, who just learned, couldn't control his Kenbunshoku, so he kept hearing and feeling the soldiers' pain. That doesn't happen to Rayleigh because he can probably turn it on and off at will. That's the best way I can explain it.
Anyway, this episode was amazing. Seeing Rayleigh tear up was awesome.
Sanji stole the show: sniffing Perona's butt, completely hemorrhaging from his nose, upon seeing Nami and Robin, and his reaction to Luffy's being on Amazon Lily.
Such a great episode.

This was more like it. Still not sure about how they're forcing 'We Go', but that's not a major complaint. I wish they hadn't used a version that had lyrics, that threw me off for a couple of seconds.
But great to see the crew back together! I've been waiting two months for this! Hancock was surprisingly well done in this episode, I don't think they used one of her gags.
-
we didn'y get to see that okama chewing on a marine :(
We didn't! And yet the scene was still one of the more disturbing I've seen in the series, so I would say it was a good thing to leave that out as it would have only made the Okama Stampede WORSE! DX

I noticed that to…
Also, wouldn't it be a plot hole(I think that's the proper term for this?) since...
! In the manga Brook says "Soul" is what keeps him alive?
Hopefully it was a mistranslation.

So…this episode basically showcases why being a marine freaking sucks. You gotta feel bad for the guys! How could they expect when they went up against? I can imagine them trading stories on how horrible this day was, and the revenge everyone will take on the squad that just got rained on. Also, did that bug scene remind anyone of Starship Troopers?
Pretty nice episode aside from THAT screenshot, though it's more funny then horrible given time.
Unrelated to anything, I like to imagine that one close up on Nami's chest, was somehow her doing that on purpose to shut Sanji up.
-
I really don't know why everyone is bugging over that one screenshot.
It's not the crew was drawn perfectly detailed in that double spread in the manga anyway. -
The music choices were very well in this episode… And again, "We Go!" as BGM really added to te mood. I'm starting to love it even more than "We Are!".
-
I love how 'selective' 2chan is about their screenshots :ninja:
On a possibly unrelated note, there's a .gif floating around of Nami lifting up the map over and over again on the close-up scene in this episode. It almost looks like she's being…
Oh God how did this get here I am not good with computer
! >! >!
-
The "We Go" opening is really starting to grow on me.
Episode was good with only the final screenshot as the only flaw. The next episodes will cover chapters that had nice moments in it so I'll be looking forward to those as well, Some scenes in particular:
! Sanji,Luffy and Zoro attacking the Kraken, The crew's comments when they reached the darkest part of the ocean among others
-

It is. Brook says his chest is fluttering. Of course, he doesn't have one.
Skull jokeThe lines spoken in the anime, the ones with the manga to reference to, are exactly the same. There's no point in altering them anyway, and keeping them intact preserves the spirit of the dialogue.
Funimation subs aren't the best quality, but they're legit and the fastest to upload. Good enough for the casual viewer.
-
Is it just me, or was that shot flashing back to Luffy's training with Rayleigh filler?
Because if so, bravo Toei, that shot where Rayleigh wonked him on the head was literally Laugh Out Loud Funny.
-

Like when it expands over the ship.
(…)I didn't c the episode yet (had no time yesterday because of Uncharted 3!), but let me explain how that coating COULD work from my point of view:
Normally air is lighter than water, so a bubble filled with air always floats up.
But it seems the resin the coating is made of sumhow makes the bubble all slippy so even a big bubble filled with air can sink downwards.
The air-bag on the other hand underneath the Sunny holds the ship on the water surface, cause it's a normal bag (no resin). But once the air is filled into the Sabaody-resin-bubble the ship can sink down.
Normally u had to use a big amount of weight to make this amount of air sinkin down.
And the only thing u can do with air to make it sink in water is to increase the air pressure. But if we look how far the SHs move down the ocean, I doubt that the resin increases the air pressure inside the bubble (human bodies aren't made for such a high pressure - just look @ Sanji vs. Kuroobi), so I think the bubble's "slippy" surface is responsible for air sinking down the water.
I know it's impossible to explain a shonen's natural phenomenon with real world physical laws, I just wanted to erase sum ?-marks above sum fans' heads with my knowledge bout hydrodynamics. -
Did they really just use We Go! twice within a 3 episode span?
They could've used We are, or something else. What the heck man?
-

No… They used it twice within a 2 episode span. Yeah, I agree, kinda excessive. I get that it's supposed to be the new theme-song of One Piece and all, but it's not like We Are! got played during every single impressive scene over the course of the 516 episodes where it was the main theme-song.
-
Minor distinction, I'm sure, but didn't they use the instrumental version in the last episode? Guess that would be their (weak) defense.
I would have much preferred We Are or Overtaken or another of the classic tunes for the closer last night.
-
In Luffy/Ray's flashback,I know that the 'ouchi' fleshlumps are just used for slapsticks, and nothing more…
But in this context,I'm gonna say that Ray used haki in the stick to beat the shit outta Luffy while yelling "if you can't defend against an old man witha stick, then there's no chance for you in the New World, and you will all die!" :ninja:

No they played the full version last week. This week we got the TV size. I'm fine with it honestly, as long as we don't get it again for a long time (like, a while after the opening runs it's course).
-

It's not the crew was drawn perfectly detailed in that double spread in the manga anyway.Eh, it was still pretty bad. Just look at Chopper's eyes, and Zoro's face. :P Robin too…
-
I liked this episode, aswell all the post-timeskip ones until now. Let's see how the underwater action will be done.
@Xaravir:Aw, Perona looked so sad when she said she had to find someone new to replace Zoro.
Fake Zoro will obviously replace the real one. :ninja:

That is hilarious! Old man witha stick!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
The episode was had some rather bad pacing, but it was okay.
Seeing how the anime is handling the underwater shots makes up for it. -
we didn'y get to see that okama chewing on a marine :(
Because they finally learned how to ..
!
! >! suck head the right way.
Ohuhuhu, I'm awful, I'm awful. -
funny episode, couple of good action scenes, art was weird most of the time tho'
-
Each episode just keeps getting better! Can't wait for next week's episode!
I can't think of much else to say… ;;;
I'm still secretly hoping that we get to hear more songs from Brook.
-
@Vegard:

Didn't they do pretty much the same thing with Bink's Rum? I remember it being in like 3-4 episodes very close to eachother.

So today I was catching the preview of the next Toriko episode, and it looks like FujiTV's site has changed video players, meaning that the previews are now bigger than they once were; but they stream right from the site so that means there are no more links to post here for the NEP. So yeah, just thought I should mention that. We'll have to watch the previews now straight from the FujiTV site.
Take a look for yourself here (play either One Piece or Toriko's previews, I haven't checked any other show's videos): http://www.fujitv.co.jp/animation/index.html
