I'm using version 7. I followed a tutorial to help me with the process, though there could be shortcuts. I didn't really use any tools other than the paintbrush. And like I said before, part of it is just being bold and going for more color and highlight/shadow depth. I also don't really now what to do with backgrounds most of the time. :/

You should try adding color to the shading. ^^ I usually like to use blue, but purple, greens, reds… anything. :D Just go color crazy~
-
nod i agree w/ taboo. i try to use colored shadows even when i do cell shading. i do need to try mixing colors more though… perhaps i can try it w/ my zoroxvivi pic ;p
-
Yeah, I normally do that with real paint, but it's trickier to blend with digi paint (at least as I've found). I thought of maybe starting off with solid colors or complimentary colors and then adding the muted tones on top. I've done that before in school.
The way I created the shadows in that pic, I just created an adjustment layer with higher saturation and less lightness.
-
that is some sexy shading taboo! omg i love his afro! XD

Some Kureha art I started at work the other night but haven't finished yet. Thought I'd post a link, since I hardly do anything worth posting these days but I like this one so far. -
Complete it, man, it´s awesome!!
-
What's with all the mind-blowingly good Usopp art all of a sudden? XD
bevin: Never have a thought a Kureha fanart could look so great. :adore:
Anyway, Trailer Trash Luffy and crew is complete. X3
-
Taboo, only the first pic is coming up for me. Awesome pic, though. I love the afro.
Bevin, awesome pic. If I had deviantart account, that would be on my favorites. Excellent job.
R.F. Tigermode, you never fail to amaze me with your artwork.
-
awesome artwork guys! R.F. Tigermode, yours is just too awesome!
-
Thanks for the little tutorial taboo, I have to try oekaki eventually.
Bevin - Wow, that's great, I never see Kureha fanart!
R.F. Tigermode - Trailer Trash One Piece is love, haha. XD Luffy makes me think of Bruce Campbell in the Evil Dead movies for some reason.
-
You guys are awesome, you know that!?
Interrupting the awesomeness (of Usopp) for some crack!

GYAHAHAHAHA

lol, that's awesome. XD I REALLY hope Kaku has an ape type fruit now.
-
Okies, I made a thingy about coloring via oekaki. It might not mean much because I've still got tons to learn, but I'm hoping it'll help a little. ^^;
One: lineart
Two:base color
Three: shade
Four: light
Five: detailsKinda sucks, but you get the idea. Total layers used: 6
Hey, what happen to the links?<_<

aww cheer up e1n…even if you say that, You can always come up with the coolest one piece fanarts even if its just in pencil!!!
you'll still be my number 1 idol when It comes to OP fanartsXD XD XD -
@OP:

They should be fixed now.

Inhaaaaleeeesss Dunno, man…. that was the shit, though. sniffffffff Oh yeahhh....

shut up shut up SHUT UP >I'm the least productive here ;;
I haven't picked up a pencil and drawn anything (OnePiece or not) ever since changso got my kiriban…(and I have yet to finish that too ;_; )
-
eggy, i officially challenge you for the least productive artist title! XD
-
lol, that's awesome. XD I REALLY hope Kaku has an ape type fruit now.
.
..dear god no…. if kaku got the saru fruit.... shudders that would be totally pointless... he's already like a monkey -
Oh come on now, there's no denying I'm the least productive. I've done less than 10 OP fanarts over the last year and theyr'e all Usopp! Unless you count that one little Lucci sketch.

This post is deleted!

ubiq should really add this on that AP award nomination thing. XD
by the way, we fanartists should have a get-together sometimes, because that would be SUPER.
eggy, you're from canada, right? i might go there in the summer, maybe i'll stop by to see my favorite comic artist. XD
and cosmic, you're from socal, so we should meet up sometimes since i'm just down here in SD. =)
-

That'll have to be next year. Crap, I haven't voted…

Yeah, that would be cool. =) What do fanartists do together? Draw combined fanart?
I love SD. My bf and I go to Comic-Con every summer. If it wasn't so expensive I'd live there. -
What do fanartists do? Why, they have doodle wars, of course.
Requirements: one sketchbook, at least one pencil. Pick a common theme and take turns drawing (once had a war where the theme was every character had to say "OK!". ROFL-ing ensued).
Changsho: As soon as I remember how to create them, I'll post on those PS speedlines. XD

oooh~ awesome >: D!!!
doodle war all the way XD~
and where will be visiting in Canada e1n??
hopefully I haven't went back to Taiwan before you arrive : ( -
Ah, doodle wars. That looks fun. I don't even know any artists around here anymore. =( I'm starting to miss drawing classes too.
-
hm…I'll have to find if some of you other arty guys are going to Katsucon.
There's this thing i saw someone on DevArt do where she would draw in a sketchbook for someone and vice versa, and when the books were filled they'd send them to each other. Maybe we could do something like that but instead we'd just get one and send it to each other.
-
That sounds like a great idea. Someone draws something, then he/she would send their work to another artist via email and then that person adds to it anyway he sees fit and then he/she sends it to another artist and so and so. Of course the problem is how do you end it.
-
Someone gets to keep it, I guess!
-
Nah, I would assume someone would post the final result on the thread. Then again each artist who finishes their part, post their contribution on the thread.
-
hmm…maybe someone could make copies of the original...My mother works in a print shop, but i don't know if they do publishing...
-
There's one site I'm on that does a sketch book. It's really cool, artists draw on a page or two then mail it to the next recipiant. It's been all around the world, from Africa to Canada to Europe to Austrailia…. I believe it's in Ohio right now. :D Just a cool idea~
-
maybe we could each buy sketchbooks and send it to each other. That might get weird if someone ends up getting all of the other books at once.
-
I think it should just be one sketchbook, because they have a lot of pages in them. Everyone can fill up a page, or add to a page as long as they don't mess up other people's stuff.
-
i like the idea. how do we decide the cycle?
oh, and there will need to be a time limit on this. like, say, a person can only keep it for a week, or less. if they don't have time and/or busy, pass it on to the next person.
-
how about whoever buys it sends it to the person closest to them. It would probably get there faster than sending it all over the place. How big should this thing be anyway? We shouldn't make the book too small, but if it's too big shipping could get expensive. I'd say a hard-cover book, either 8.5x11 or 9x12.
-
Who has money to burn? lol. A hard cover will make the book heavier and cost more to send.
-
true, but it'll look a bit nicer and it'll probably last longer than sending a spiral. I've got some extra money. I suppose i could send it. Anyone close to new york? And i don't think it'll be terribly expensive. Probably like ten bucks at the most. Of course i won't be able to see all the cool stuff if i buy it…T-T
-
You might try eggy, he's in Canada right? I don't know who the hell will want to send it down here. xB
Maybe there should be like a list of who wants to do this… maybe so we can form some kind of plan...
-
I'll do it. As bad as I am about sending things through the mail (I swear I did write the letter when I said I did, in fact, you'll probably get two in one. XD), I'm good at mindless doodling.
-
20 charas to make a topic in the general discussion forum Hey should there be any guidelines for this thing?
-
Hmm.. maybe a time limit. Definentally a page limit of 1-2 pages (not including front and back?) Maybe no watercolor or really inky/bleedy stuff unless the pages below are protected. That sort of thing.
-
i was thinking more along the lines of art content, like nothing explicit, but that's a good point too.
-
Oh. x3 Yeah, I don't know. Keep it clean I suppose.
-
okay, 2-page maximum, keep it clean, and no wet/bleedy media. Anything else?
