Fire must have air (not air itself, but a part which I don't remember the name of XD) to keep burning. Kiji can make an ice surrounding Ace and taking all the air away.
that won't work. As this is OP,science like ths doesn't exist.

Uhm, why wouldn't it? Oda use science, but after the laws of the One Piece universe. I doubt the thing about how a fire works is much diffrent.

Sure he uses science. But he's not going to make someone take all the air away to beat ace. OP science isn;t exaclty the same as real world science.
Why wouldn't he? He used the "rubber can't be harm by electricy" on Ener. Even though Luffy would melted if it was in the real world he used the same principles.

**Thats my point exactly. The "sucking air so fire won't be made" is too much science. Not to mention the fact that neither won't breathe.
but you may be right, we'll see later on: maybe.**
Yeah, maybe we will. :) I hope so, Kiji VS Ace must be like the fight who people have been arguementing over the most in the whole serie. :D
Oda, got dammit, give us some fan service, give us a fight between the two of them! XD

That would be an awesome fight.
I wanna see a Hatchi/Nico Robin slap fight. XD XD XD

Ace doesnt burn, he creates and controlls fire. His body itself is fire.
So technically he could create enough body heat to melt the ice.
Its a shame, that a Koji/Ace fight most likely won't happen.
The again, Oda can make whoever he wants to win- he writes the story.
He could make Ussop beat Koji somehow if he wanted.
Yepp, he could pretty easy. ;) Kiji is sleeping, Usopp sneaks up on him and sticks a knife in his head. Hahaha. :D
the knife gets frozen and breaks while Kiji is unhurt :D
Well, not if he is asleep? Or?! I thought logia powers have to be kind of activated by the user. If that is the case - bye bye Kiji. :) If you are right, then, yeah, Usopp would be pretty much fucked up anyhow. Haha. XD

Well i dont think they need to be activated really. Since Logia users literally become the element.
It would be like pulling Luffy's arm while he was asleep. It would still stretch
To me it seems they are always their elemet. It looks like when a certain level of pressure it applied they go to their elemantal state. But normally they are thei element in the shape and color etc of a human being.
@Octogon:

Well, look at Smoker. I'm sure it took him awhile to perfect his smoke technique, so I'm guessing that it is all up to your mastery of your devil fruit powers. If Ao Kiji is less skilled than "Fire-Fist" Ace, then Ace would be the victor; devil fruit or not.
Well seeing it that Crocodile loses the ability to turn to sand when he gets touched by water I would say that normally they are humans. Turning into an element is the ability that needs to be activated IMO.
If they would always be their element then Aokiji would die thirsty because whatever he would like to drink would freeze in his throat.
**Maybe they aren't always theit element. But it does seem that when a certain amount of force is applied they become their element. And we know that they can re-make them selves with their element. As we saw ao-kiji do, and croc has done it nymeruos.
I'm thinking that they are their element, in a sense.**
in Arabasta, when Luffy arrived to the resturant, he knocked smoker in the back and he went right in to Ace who flew thru a pair of houses.
This means that the Logia user must activate their powers or something, because if they didnt need to, smoker just had transformed in to smoke when Luffy rammed him.
But somehow they are like their elements all the time i think.
When Ace came to Drum it didnt snow because of his heat fire powers, and if smoker was a normal man he would be dead now of all the smoking. And i think just the apperance of Crocodile dried out Arabasta.
Somehow the logia users are streaming out some kind of energy. not so much but still enought to make some difference in the world.
That´s a very good point. In fact that little chapter was full of these things. Luffy hit Smoker and as a chain reaction even Ace. Both of them where sent flying through multiple walls because they weren´t prepared for it.
Later on Ace gets pushed down roughly from Smoker while he see´s Luffy. Again this happened because Ace didn´t see it coming. Logia powers have to be activated.
As for why it didn´t snow in Drum when Ace was there or why there was no rain in Alabasta. Well I think it´s a self protection thing. We know that Crocodile doesn´t like water and for Ace too much snow and cold wouldn´t be very pleasant either. So I think that they actually used their powers in an not too much attention drawing way in order to protect themselves.
I had completkey forgotten about that. So it seems their powers do have to be activated.

I'll link this again. I think it encompasses the points very clearly, and clears up misunderstandings. Unfortunately, people don't wish to read. =/ They just go on debating about stuff and come to the same conclusion everytime.
This is just for my personal understanding and… quite offtopic:
Wasn't crocodile using that Nevelin, Nebelin, Whatever-Powder to dry out Alabasta? After all smoker found a Baroque-Ship with that powder on the open sea... I thought that Crocodile used that ship on the open sea to suck away humidity from Alabasta and not that he used his power. Of course Crocodile doesn't like water and of course he tries to protect himself from water and rain... but was he using his powers? O_o Somehow I don't really believe that Crocodile can control sand to the extent that he could change the weather of a whole country O_o;;
And that it didn't snow when Ace arrived could be pure coincidence. When Luffy arrived it wasn't snowing either and as far as I remember the snow Ace was standing on didn't melt... but I could be wrong.
Just how "Limited" are these logia-powers? O_o; Crocodile, even though he spent considerable amounts of time developing his powers, still wasn't able to control sand like ... uhm... Gaara in Naruto. He could dry things out and create sand from his own body and even start sandstorms with his power (like a snowball he started it and got larger on its own), but he could not actually control the sand around him. And with Ace and Ener it's the same: They can create extremely strong flames and lightnings, but - as far as I have understood it - have no absolute dominance over fire or electricity, or not? Sry, I'm quite confused XD
As for the dance powder thing, yeah, Crocodile didn't use his powers. As for the Ace thing, I doubt it was coincidence. They placed emphasis on it; it had a purpose.
As for the limited logia-powers, read the logia section in the link I linked dammit. It's like, same questions being asked again and again and nobody bothers to read.

The people in Drum did mention pretty obvlious that when Ace came there it was the first day that it didnt snow. If we know Oda right, that cant be a coincedent.
And about the dancepowder. I think Crocodile just used it to make sure that the capital always had rain, and to make the people go against Cobra.
But he maybe used his powers to dry out Arabasta and then he used the dancepowder.
**Semms to me they are their element. When in normal form they aren't cokmpletley a normal human. Seems like Ace still emits more heat from his body than a normal person. Also seems like So-kiji emits cold even when normal. But it also seems that for them to use their element, they have to trigger it manually.
Makes sense that they are their element, since if a part of them is lost they can re-make it using their element.
–---------------
Croc didn't want rain because then he couldn't become sand. So if someone found out they would be able to assasinate him or something. And slso to make the people turn against the king, probaley.**
Something to point out:
Until this point, we've seen Ao-Kiji freeze only Salt water, something that requires incredibly low temperatures compared to fresh water.
Perhaps that's a clue to beating him. Croc was beaten by Fresh water, not salt-water himself, so it's a bit of the same. Ao-kiji's ability is salt-water based, meaning fresh water he would be unable to freeze.
Let's break it down on a chemical level.
NaCl: Sodium Chloride, AKA "Salt".
Sodium is used to preserve things, from bread to crackers, to fish… to whatever. If you take sodium away from these objects, they deteriorate, or became stale over time.
Chloride is a bleach type element. It fortifies things and makes them hard (Ice, anyone)? In small doses in water, it ensures wastes are dissolved (Urine, feces, etc.)
When you put them together, the chloride hardens the sodium crystals and makes them into what you know as salt.
So if Kuzan's power is based on this, then it's quite simple for Luffy to beat him without the assistance of his brother.
A. Desalinate him.
This one won't be so easy. It's not like Luffy's gonna walk up and lick all the salt off him. But one must remember that the One Piece world is a Archipelago world. In a world like that, fresh water isn't always available. Thus, the inhabitants must depend on rain, or discover some alternate form of desalination.
If there IS none, then Luffy may have to do just that: Make Kuzan rain; that is, evaporate him, then cause him to reform as condensation, and precipitate. It would remove the NaCl content from his body, and thereby render his freezing ability useless.
B. Freeze Fresh water around him.
Also not easy.
For this to work, Luffy would have to have a decent supply of Fresh water, and have some way to freeze it AFTER it comes in contact with Kuzan. If my theory is true, Kuzan can only freeze salt water, so Usopp may have to fire a Sure-Killing Freezing Star, or something like that...
Fresh water will have little effect.
its obvious that he can freeze anything, regardless of what it is. be it salt water or fresh water.
Okay, and just to lighten the mood of the thread, may I propose Nami on a tandem bike as a way to get Ao Kiji off your tail? :D
"Fire Fist" Ace, you're wrong.
Though I will say I was laughing full throttle through your post, so at least you're not boring, if a little long-winded.
When Luffy punched ao kiji, he had apparently instantaneous frostbite. Much like crocodile could suck the moisture out of things, it would seem that ao kiji can suck the heat. Weeeee.
Well, the body has salt in it. Plasma, to be exact. So… when Luffy punched him, he was freezing plasma, which is salt-water.
@Fire Fist:

I congradulate you for thinking this much. But I honestly don;t think Oda will dive into things that complicated.

You give me so many laughs with your hilarious attempts at scientific revelation.
If his plasma had been frozen, that would lead to internal freezing of his whole body- whih would kill him.
Its obvious only the exterior of the body is frozen.

You're even more funny than fire-fist, since you actually addressed his explanation.
Lol, yes, i'm starting to wonder why i even did that. XD
Who cares man it was pretty funny, you're a decent guy. By the way "fire fist" I think you're decent too, you just like to think about the manga a little more than is needed.
Yeah, maybe I am putting a little too much thought into this. ^^; It is a kid's manga in Japan, after all. Sorry.
