:D
Gotta back out. Have guests at the house who want to play against me.
But those were great matches. Spencer hates me still.
One more.
YAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
@ Chunny comeback
That one was really close, too!
Felt bad that I used the same team the entire time, but I had to have my Dormammu team ready for Wesker's team. Otherwise, I would have used my other teams.
Whenever I lose, is when I use the Wesker team.
It's my "No, the FUCK you did NOT just beat me in MvC3" team.
I know this is old news⌠but no one told me that you can reset hit stun with aerial tags.
Found that out by mistake last night and extended what I thought was the end of a combo (4 DHCs + Xfactor) O_o
I'm starting to use the master of magnetism. He is so much fun :D
I'm tired of these "super armor" teams: Hulk/Sentinel/someone else.
BTW, can Tron be hit before she hits you with her assist? She even goes through my supers.
Her flame assist is invincible for a LONG time.
So unless you're doing a Beam Hyper, she's probably going to hit your normals.
Also, is it me⌠or is Hulk fucking FAST in this game!?
Hit "low" on Tron's assist and Hulk is NOT fast.
He's not?
Cuz he was hella slow in Marvel Super Heroes/MSH Vs. SF/MvC1/MvC2.
Unless my games are being tampered with via hacking Mr. Rage.
Unless you're comparing Hulk with say, Chun Li/Trish/Phoenix/X-23/Storm/Wolverine/Magneto.
In which caseâŚ
:silly:
Fool⌠he's only fast when he's doing "Gamma Charge" and during Derp-Factor.
Hulk's speed is bullshit in this game. Seriously. There is no such thing as distance with him. It doesn't exist. If he's across the screen, he might as well be right next to you.
EDIT: Going to be online right now, but only for a second. Having one or two quick matches before I go back to dinner.
EDIT2: Morrigan, I love you so much.
Whenever I lose, is when I use the Wesker team.
It's my "No, the FUCK you did NOT just beat me in MvC3" team.
I see. I'll take that into account.
I'm tired of these "super armor" teams: Hulk/Sentinel/someone else.
VERY YES!
I usually get those with Iron Man. I need to remember that with Sentinel, I need to use Morrigan or Trish using diagonal projectiles. And Hulk, I need to throw my hands in the air and accept death.
Fool⌠he's only fast when he's doing "Gamma Charge" and during Derp-Factor.
That's still "fast."
His Gamma Charge was NEVER-ever that fast in any iteration.
And his X-Factor speed gain is more noticeable than say Haggar.
S'all I'm pointing out.
Spanish Inquisition up in here.
VERY YES!

I just rush in with Viper when it whiffs. Works most of the time as people can't seem to do anything else with Hulk.
Yeah. Morrigan does a pretty good job against Hulk.
Player Matches severely need the option to turn off timers.
I just played a match where the opponent used Deadpool and spammed PINEAPPLE SURPRISE the entire match.
Why didn't I fucking us my Dormammu team? I'm forgetting that playing Ranked, I can't play for fucking fun, because everyone ruins the game on Ranked.
It gets much better once you start fighting people past 9th Lord, trust me.
Good Games Insider!
I'm still getting used to the stick obviously, and now another layer of learning has been added now that I swapped out the square plate for an octagonal one, but I can definitely feel the difference. Chris' flamethrower definitely feels like its coming out better, all I need to do is practice that aerial shotgun!
It gets much better once you start fighting people past 9th Lord, trust me.
True that. It was the same way in BlazBlue and SSFIV.
You too Tonfa.
You're Chris is a nightmare. And I really need to try using Dormammu's Orb of Fire + Teleport technique. I teleport like crazy with Phoenix, might as well with Dormammu.
Yeah, that Flare + M Teleport combination is a beast!
I think those matches were the first time that I've actually been able to pull that off efficiently. Kudos to the stick again!
You can only pull that Flare>Teleport off if you use Stalk Flare during an actual fight, though. If you throw one out while waiting for the next opponent to jump in, you won't have enough time.
Unless you're in X-FactorâŚ

Ah, THAT'S what I remember Shmeckie bitchin' about when he first got his Stick during SSFIV.
How do I go about getting one and changing it?
That square plate makes some Full Circles and Half Circles almost harder to to perform >.<
I will never intentionally use Sentinel, Hulk, or Doom for however long I play this game on Ranked. I have made this vow now.

Hmm. I'll keep that in mind.
The square gate is for suckers and Jpanese people who inexplicably like it.
Just buy an octagonal one, unscrew and open up the top plate on the stick, you should see where the gate on the joystick is. There's four latches. Pop the gate off the latches by hand (it's easy), stick the nice octagonal one on there, put the gate back down, screw it back on, and presto! A TE stick the way it was meant to be!
Thank you much Shmeckie.
Any place you recommend ordering it from?
I really REALLY want to use my stick for MvC3 but right now I'm only using it for SSFIV since the square doesn't bug me as much there.
Here's where I got mine:

My God. I've never played a game in my life that made me hate humanity more than this one.
Play more shooters.
Play more shooters.
Halo and CoD bring the worst out of people imo.
But some Lobbies in MvC3 are full of lowlifes.
Just the nature of the beast.
Also: just ordered that cheap cheap octagon plate Shmeckie.
Appreciate the tips and link.
I repay you with a non-fail session this weekend.
Morrigan vs Sentinel and Wesker. Sentinel keeps spamming taunt, until I get too close. I have half health, and he has a full health bar. I have no X-Factor, and he has X-Factor on. And he just keptâŚon....hitting...taunt, unless I got close.
I'm generally not someone who gets angry at video games. I used to play Gears of War on a regular basis, while having people talking shit in my ear. Hell, I had defenses against those people. I used to laugh like a maniac whenever they could hear my voice so I couldn't give them the satisfaction of victory when they were being cheap as hell.
This game makes me want to go on a murder spree.
lol Insider⌠taunt makes you mad?
Wth man?
XD
I don't think a fighting game ever legitimately made me angry.
The way I see it, if they can do it, you can do it too.
Shooters do irk me, but that's mostly because I don't have super-human sniper skills.

At most I get annoyed when people that use cheap tactics taunt after a win.

You make a good point in "if they can do it, I can do it", but I usually felt that way about other fighting games like BlazBlue, Street Fighter, or Tekken. THIS! You can win by doing anything.
It was a blessing for him that I only had Morrigan, and he had a X-Factored Sentinel. And what does he do? Taunt.
And taunt doesn't bother at all. But I can't look at that moment, and not see a twat behind the controller laughing his ass off, thinking that this is the greatest moment ever.
âŚ.....I'm started to feel like Sarus, minus the overall skill.
EDIT: And FPS games, I generally just throw my hands in the air and say, "Whatever! I don't have lightning reflexes like you. Have a cookie."

You let goofy things bother you. Just sayin'âŚ
The whole "it's in the game so why not use it?" argument sucks. I'd rather win while using SOME type of skill than cheap, hard to beat moves.
I probably would've just shot him over and over with a bunch of Soul Fists until he actually started doing something.
If that's the game he's going to play might as well entertain him for a little bit. Then kick his ass.
True. I need to get over it.
I hate getting angry over video games. It's insanely stupid.
See last night I was on the losing end of an 11 ish win streak.
Was I mad?
Hell no, because every match I got closer and closer to victory and I kept seeing new things, I learn when under pressure (Shmeckie's Team Shadaloo gauntlet was pivotal for getting my ass in training mode in SSFIV), I'm sure the person on the other side was thinking he was God's Gift to Fighting Games, but I still managed a win or two, so we're really NOT far apart.
It's all about priorities and time in training.
I got (at best) 10-15 hours or so logged in MvC3.
Plus I have a job, family and all kinds of community shit going on.
If I can BEAT you with that much on my plate, imagine if I had no life and just played games 24/7?
Beastly.
After that massive losing streak I went on and abused some poor Dante player for about 16 matches.
Karma.
The whole "it's in the game so why not use it?" argument sucks. I'd rather win while using SOME type of skill than cheap, hard to beat moves.
Do not play fighting games with that mentality.
Even tourney players spam.
True. I need to get over it.

I don't think so. If it's something competitive and people are being cheap to win then you can get upset.
Like, if you were playing basketball your opponent kept putting their knee up when they went for a lay-up/dunk I'm sure you'd get pissed. They're not looking for fun competition, they're looking to win at any cost regardless of what people think and it ruins it for everyone.
"Donât get discouraged though. Losing to scrubs doesnât mean you suck. It just means you havenât learned the secret art of beating scrubs. Theyâre not dumb, you know. Theyâre thinking just as hard as you are. Maybe harder. The only difference is, their gameplan is based around several significant misconceptions and false assumptions. Your goal is to identify what they donât âgetâ and exploit it until they get it (or until they lose). "

So I should say "Who's the most over powered character(s) in this game so I can always pick them"? That's just boring to me. Again, for me the fun is in a competitive match as opposed to winning some over powered spam fest.
I have alot of fun playing Rage (despite winning like once every 12 matches) because he actually has skill and can play instead of constant "Haggar pipe" "Hulk Super Armor smash" or "Sentinel bullshit". Everytime I see either one of those, win or lose, my fun goes down quite a bit.
I understand how Insider feels because it reminds me of this one moment I had in SSF4. It was with my early Hakan vs taunting SRKen. Losing doesn't matter that much to me; I take notes with what got me dead and do my best to fix that. What sucks is when people piss all over you when you're down, specially so when its a fighter. It feels really discouraging when you're trying to learn the game while a better player basically says "You suck so damn much that I'm going to savor this moment and let you fruitlessly try." If I didn't have the whole AP SSF4 gang to play with, I wouldn't be much of a fighting gamer as I am now.
So I should say "Who's the most over powered character(s) in this game so I can always pick them"? That's just boring to me. Again, for me the fun is in a competitive match as opposed to winning some over powered spam fest.
I don't think there is such thing as the "most overpowered" character in MvC3.
Every character has strengths and weaknesses. And even a GREAT character needs an even Greater player behind him. That's why Tier lists never made much sense.

Haggar pipe is amazing and all⌠but Haggar is a character that is EASY to zone.
I'm not smashing you or anything, hell I'm pretty mediocre myself, but I don't let something like that make me assume a character is overpowered.
Sentinel, as great as he is for doing dubious amount of damage with almost no real skill (I can see why Sarus hates him, but he's a GREAT training wheels character) he's susceptible to a GROSS amount of setups and combos that would be impossible to do on ANY other character.
Checks and balances essentially.
Also... the Basketball analogy is faulty in that you described a move that sounds illegal. Unless you're hacking MvC3, everything ANYONE does is perfectly legal. Just be glad it's not MvC2.
Pro-players back then made mince meat out of mediocre players, at least now there's an even ground, and seeing as how we're all relatively new to the game, we can grow up together with it.
@ wizard - People that "piss all over you" when you're down are pathetic, just remember that you're the better PERSON and it won't bug you.
Those people forget the "fun" and "play" parts of video games.
"I BEAT YOU AT PIXELS BRO, I'M THE BEST!"

I believe this is a Seth Killian quote from his "Scrubs Column" from a couple of years ago.
I feel better, actually.
Damn, I feel like I'm starting at SSF4 all over again.
EDIT: I know this might not be the best thing to say, but I just fought a Dark Phoenix goer (max to level 5, saved Phoenix for last, and used X-Factor).
I won. HA! I CAN CONTROL IT! Sorry.
And even a GREAT character needs an even Greater player behind him.
No, they don't. I've fought players that are absolutely terrible but they can do the Wolverine/ Taskmaster high damage combo's like it's nothing. 70 percent damage but can't even block a cross-up.
Haggar pipe is amazing and all⌠but Haggar is a character that is EASY to zone.
And yet that's all they do and if it hits somehow you're fucked.
Sentinel, as great as he is for doing dubious amount of damage with almost no real skill (I can see why Sarus hates him, but he's a GREAT training wheels character) he's susceptible to a GROSS amount of setups and combos that would be impossible to do on ANY other character.
Let me ask you something: I was in a match with a Sentinel in X-factor and they kept doing the air heavy. Now I was blocking high while in the corner but somehow it hit me not once but twice. He followed it up with the basic Sentinel combo and beat me (both my characters had full health).
What should I have done? I've blocked that move dozens of times regardless of if they were in X-factor or not and never had this problem. No, I am not making this up to prove a point, THIS HAPPENED TO ME.
I'm not saying that these characters are UNBEATABLE, I'm just saying that when people use these easy combo/super armor moves and almost nothing else it provides an experience that's alot less fun.
Also⌠the Basketball analogy is faulty in that you described a move that sounds illegal.
Nope, happens in the NBA and the DEFENDER is called for a blocking foul more often than the offensive player is called for a charge.
I'm not smashing you or anything, hell I'm pretty mediocre myself, but I don't let something like that make me assume a character is overpowered.
Nah, don't worry about it. It's just I use my best player as a rush down and it's kinda bull when someone can mash a super armor move when I'm trying to start my combo and take a bunch of my health cheaply.
EDIT: I know this might not be the best thing to say, but I just fought a Dark Phoenix goer (max to level 5, saved Phoenix for last, and used X-Factor).
I won. HA! I CAN CONTROL IT! Sorry.
I feel better, actually.
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
That'll do it!
I played this for the first time by a friend's house. Only for one match, he used Dormammu to spam this projectile thing at me in a corner. As frustrating as that was, I'm convinced there are ways to overcome cheapness. That's just one part of the overall enjoyment when it comes to gaming. If everyone followed rules(fan-made) and played "fair", then there's no unpredictably.
Sweet, actual conversation in the MvC3 thread.
No, they don't. I've fought players that are absolutely terrible but they can do the Wolverine/ Taskmaster high damage combo's like it's nothing. 70 percent damage but can't even block a cross-up.
Fair enough, X-Factor can do that too (a Level 3 X-Factor Sentinel can kill ANY character with one whiffed combo O_o)
And yet that's all they do and if it hits somehow you're fucked.
Any character with long range assists or fireballs can keep a pipe happy Haggar at bay, but you still got to block the incoming pipe, it's just the easiest set-up that Haggar players have, hence the spam (other than Lariat), I use Haggar and a good Dormmamu can keep my ass away for days unless I get creative with assists and the ground roll.
But 9/10 I get zoned the fuck out.
Let me ask you something: I was in a match with a Sentinel in X-factor and they kept doing the air heavy. Now I was blocking high while in the corner but somehow it hit me not once but twice. He followed it up with the basic Sentinel combo and beat me (both my characters had full health).
Dunno if you saw the video that Shmeckie posted (which was funny AND true) but once Sentinel has X-Factor you need to run the FUCK away, unless you have a SOLID battle plan to combo him. Plenty of players I've seen (Justin Wong too) have used Wolverine/Zero teleport cross up tricks against Sentinel and I've yet to see it fail.
What should I have done? I've blocked that move dozens of times regardless of if they were in X-factor or not and never had this problem. No, I am not making this up to prove a point, THIS HAPPENED TO ME.
Refer to above answer, but yeah I believe you.
Since I started using X-Factor defensively (or offensively against characters like Sentinel and Phoenix) I've seen some insane damage output on characters like Haggar/Hulk/Ryu (blocked Shinkuu Hadoken does MORE dmg than a regular normal combo)/Sentinel.
I'm not saying that these characters are UNBEATABLE, I'm just saying that when people use these easy combo/super armor moves and almost nothing else it provides an experience that's alot less fun.
I understand that.
Trust me, I've gotten my ass kicked too, but I ALWAYS reflect on how I could've done something differently to win the match.
A different assist?
Perhaps a better offense/defense plan
Nope, happens in the NBA and the DEFENDER is called for a blocking foul more often than the offensive player is called for a charge.
OH YEAH.
I get you know XD
I've seen that and wondered HOW it's the Defender's fault -_-'
Nah, don't worry about it. It's just I use my best player as a rush down and it's kinda bull when someone can mash a super armor move when I'm trying to start my combo and take a bunch of my health cheaply.
Fair enough, I'm trying to learn Zero (rushdown) and I usually have a projectile assist or a HARD hitting assist (Haggar) that covers me while I rush, that way super armor can eat a dick.
But some times you just gotta poke from afar before coming in.
I've noticed that helps a LOT.
Dormammu is pretty good if you rush him head on, but you need to know how to rush him head on CORRECTLY. Trust me. This is coming from a Dormammu player.
I seriously don't get the EXP system in this game. I'm a 9th Lord, and I just played a 9th Scout. I assume my opponent has a higher level, but he was horrible. He had 22 wins and 88 losses, and I beat him with Dormammu only losing a chip of health, and Morrigan and Trish were perfect. Do you get exp no matter what?
Just so people don't misunderstand: I'm not saying people shouldn't use whoever they want however they want to. I'm giving the reasons I prefer not to use B.S. character (in my eyes) and have less fun fighting them. Even when I completely decimate a team of Sentinel/Hulk/Dante I just find itâŚ...........I dunno. It's just not fun for me.
Edit:

Scouts/Rangers/etc.... are people that have been stuck in that rank for a while. So they're like low 9th/8th/etc...... lords. I dunno if you get the SAME experience no matter who you fight or how well you do but you do get experience for every win.
