I have been waiting for this game forever! Can't wait to play as Squigly.

Just found this. Music sampler by Reverge Labs:
-
That's Michiru Yamane alright.
Great find, Derv. :3
-
Need more polish.
Theme sounds interesting so far.
-
Meh.
I didn't care for Castlevania nor the music, but I'll take y'all hype for word.
GTFO RIGHT NOW
You've GOT to be fucking kidding me.
-
No, nigga, I do not give a fuck about Castlevania nor the goddamn music.
Take a hint: I haven't played it before, because it never caught my attention.
Deal with it.
-
Theme is pretty sly. Not her best, but not bad.
And yes, polish is necessary. This would sound great with better instruments. I can imagine a guitar with almost, but I know they're going for jazz. The piano that starts at 1:15 is sexy.
I'd imagine this game would have music that's like Bayonetta, only much tamer, which is a good thing for most people.
! Love Bayonetta's soundtrack, though.

Try something that doesn't have T&A for once :sideways:

Don't give me that crap. :getlost:

Short documentary on sprite work. May interest some.

Stunning. God I wish I had that talent.

Hiroy, I'm so glad you bumped this thread, because it reminded me to check for SG updates.
And lo, and behold: PEACOCK!
Man, I love, love her old, Disney-esque cartoon design. The variety to her attacks is just amazing–I like the little touches, like how her "pokes" are actually pokes and that she hold up a do-not-touch sign when blocking. The whistle-blowing attack looks fun as well (she drops a Moai, of all things LOL). Feels like a lot of love went into designing her, you know? Great stuff!
Hope we'll get playable demo soon. Or some Parasol/Miss Fortune footage, iieee~ ^^
-
I'm expecting one of her drop/fall items to be a heavy piano and an anvil. She can't be complete without those. Hahah! I'm liking all her references so far. She appeals to my nostalgic side.
-
Oh my god! Peacock just took the chances of me buying this game and turned it into a DEFINITE! THAT is a good character design!
Yes. I need this game. I will so fucking buy it, and so make my sister buy it, and I know she'll love it!
That cartoon that the whistle was based off of, "Bad Luck Blackie", one of my all time favorite cartoons!
Waiting for this game to come out.
-
I am so excited for this game. Wasn't a fan of Peacock at first but now I'm sold.
Hope they show us some Squigly soon too. -
Ok so, I've been reading and hearing about this game, and as most people know I have a strong inclination to NOT use female characters in anything (unless forced) but this… I have no problem with this.
The animation style is superb, the character designs are crazy (the good kind) and the stuff they are referencing (Judge Doom's dagger eyeballs XD) is right up my alley.
The ONLY thing I'm on the fence about is the "Impact" of the moves.
MK and SF (and Tekken's grabs) have weight to their moves, and every punch (even japs) and kick FEELS like a metric ton of hurt is being unleashed on you.
I don't get the same feeling from these vids, even during the Super moves.
But that's EASILY fixed in a 2D game like this, I just hope their hard work doesn't go to waste.
If there's any old PC gamer here... can someone remind me what fighting game came out in the LATE 90's (98-99) for PC that looked exactly like this, animation wise? It's killing me right now, and I want to download it for reference x.x
-
Don't know what ya mean rican but I had a chance to play of at e3 and damn this game is like a mix bag of mvc1 and bb thrown into it. I have a video of my friend playing it up soon.
-
I'm in freakin' LOVE.
I caught the "Making Of" video while I was in Orlando last week, and my enthusiasm for this game only grows as the days go on.
-
When's the release date again?
-

Maybe it's just the videos… but when I see hits connect (except for the lady with the GIANT arms on her head throw/hit move) they don't seem like they impact/hurt much.
It's kind of like old KoF games, when your attacks seemed easily brushed off.
MK and SF had more "impact" to them.
Does that make sense?
:x
-
Could be an issue of sound effects. I know in MK9, the sounds of even simple attacks sound brutal.
-
^ That COULD be it.
Maybe I need to sit down and actually play it in my own terms, since sound is usually dilluted in some demos.
Cuz aestethically and thematically the game is pleasing.
And judging by Toshiya's comment it seems right up my alley in the gameplay department.

Don't know if anyone else checked out the latest Skullgirls videos from EVO, but in case you missed it, we have Parasoul!

I really like Parasoul… and the option to do Ratio battles!
Sometimes I just want to be one Person.. finally a game maker that understands!
-
Parasoul does not seem like my kinda character(I prefer Peacock as a trapper), but I like the soldier's ability to make you cancel any cool time. I can imagine the potential combos it can make.. even though I'm not too big on fighters. It's just an observation.
I may watch the rest of these later when I'm settled down a bit.
-
Parasoul isn't for me, but my god, do I just love the characters of this game. This looks like so much fun.
-
I love keep away/strategy characters. The butthurt messages I get give me thrills.

Filia and Cerabella VS Cerabella, Parasoul, and Peacock
Few things:
1. I fucking love Peacock and Parasoul's animation. They both move, feel, and act so unique. I've said before that Parasoul might not be my main, but I absolutely love her. Peacock, however…
2. I think I'm going to main the shit out of Peacock. Same goes for Filia, I think, but I'm so pumped to play as Peacock. I think this might be the first time I REALLY want to main a major villain. smokes cigar "What a sucker!"
3. It seems that ever Friday they intend to release a gameplay video. Sounds good to me.Also, some extra stuff. Character specific trailers (nothing on Parasoul yet) and a music sampler.
(LOL at her being used as hair by her own hair)
Filia:
Cerebella: (LOL at "Headgear is my gimmick!" and KOed Peacock having the eyes on her arm be 'X'ed out.)
Peacock: (Ending move is awesome.)
Anti-Skull Girls Lab: (Hmm, Michiru? Name sound a little close to 'Anti-Soul Lab' from Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. Name-wise, yes. But sound wise, not at all. The music sounds like jazzy Castlevania music, which I'm totally digging. While I do prefer the individual character themes in the MvC series, this reminds me of MvC2's music, which I did love. Was it the best fighting game music ever? No, but it was memorable as fuck. Say what you want about the themes: in the end, all you can think of is the insane, fun gameplay of MvC2. -
Lol @ the random Parasoul panty shots.
I'm digging the art style a bit more and more, same with the music.
Oh, and that Cerebella Grab Ultra/Super was baws.
-
Cerebella is going to be this game's Iron Tager. I just know it. She's gonna be beast.
-
Peacock! I'm still in love with how she plays. The mechanical voice just makes things better.
-
I'm a sucker for alternate color schemes, so this blog post made me squee. Especially the last image with a certain demonic homage color scheme!

A Kneesocks Parasoul palette?
Shut up
And Take
MY MONEY!!!
-
Holy Batman Kneesocks
-
Oh holy crap! Just take all my money already.
Ms. Fortune's new design is online too. Quite a redesign.
-
I guess they could recolor Filia into Scanty to complete the duo ^__^
-
I see Miku and Kneesocks colors, anyone know who the other two are supposed to be?
-
The Peacock one is Cirno from Touhou.
Pretty sure the Cerabella one is Potemkin, from Guilty Gear. Huge brown arms, and blue pants for a grappler character.
-
Someone here might have mentioned it, but…
^Notice the arm band. It's supposed to be Mitsuru from Persona 3.
That alone makes me consider secondary maining Parsoul.
-
Soooo this really shouldn't come as any surprise, but the release of SG has been pushed back until early 2012.
http://skullgirls.com/2011/09/skullgirls-launching-in-early-2012/
Welp, I'm a little disappointed, I gotta admit. But at least I'm glad to see they're taking the time to try to have everything as polished and completed as possible before launch.…unlike a certain other company we all know…
That aside, updates include:
-Aiming to hit the "Golden" stage before the year's end
-Game speed seeing an increase (10%)
-Various visual effects be added and touched up
-Additional music from Michiru Yamane
-Requested color palettes
-Accidental pause prevention option – hold Start for 15 frames to pause
-PlayStation 3 custom soundtrack option
-Button macros to help when playing on a pad
-Innumerable balance and gameplay tweaks
-In-game art galleries -
One of my housemates is an artist on Skull Girls and I keep seeing him animating one of the characters (Fortune).
Considering how long he has been spending on one fluid attack animation, I already knew there was no way this was coming out any time soon. But seeing him working on it… oh man it looks awesome. ;_;

That's pretty awesome, Holy! Haha, I'd love to have a little "inside view" of the animation like that, very cool. I wish scrotumnose lots of luck with his work! And oh, I'm very much looking forward to Ms. Fortune's in-game reveal, which will hopefully be soon since she's (finally) been officially announced. I do like how much more polished her design is now having been reworked from the original, although I thought the first one was a bit more charmingly catlike. Still! Pretty nice to see how things are coming along–I can only imagine how longtime followers of the game are feeling right now. ^^
-
Actually it's not him that's working on this one, it's yet another artist roomie.
All I know about Fortune is that I'm dying to play as her, because her attack animations look slick and explody as fuck.
-
Wasn't Scrotum working on the game at one point? Or trying to? Could've sworn he was…
Ah well, I'll wait, KOFXIII and Thrid Strike should keep me busy until then.
-
Parasoul's character trailer is up at the main site!
One of my friends from highschool (a member of my Animation Club, no less!) who went into animation was doing cleanup and reanimating stuff on Skullgirls until she moved. Apparently, after she got there they sent her an e-mail asking how she was, how NY was, and when she'd be able to start working again. When she gets properly situated (she needs to update her outlets to have a work station), she's gonna try and jump back in feet first because she had such a blast doing it.
It's super cool to know people working on this project. It's such a labor of love you can't help but cheer for it, delays and all.
-
I'm okay with the delay for this game. Bothers me none.
Maybe I'll actually beat all the new games I have. I really want to play some Dead Space 2 this weekend.
…..Hell, if I get to play anything, I'll be a happy camper.
-
Miss fortune gameplay: AWESOME!

I am flabbergasted at her.
GENIUS design. GENIUS! I seriously thought she was going to be a boring, old catgirl, which made me severely disinterested in her presence in the game. …....She can decapitated herself, have her head SNEEZE, and launch her head as a projectile.
.......Outstanding.
-
To be honest I find her a bit boring, even with the decapitation. The rest is just scratches it seems. Or am I completely wrong?
I like that one of her alt. colors is her original outfit though. -
Peacock is really cool but I don't get half of the references. I'm not a gamer geek so most of that stuff is beyond me, someone had to point out the Buster Sword reference. I'd definitely bet Parasoul to be a favourite for most dudes.
I think this game is really good-looking despite having American style, and has a great story to go behind the development. It can't be called "doujin" exactly since the people behind it have pro-experience, but with Capcom's vice-grip on the 2D scrolling fighter genre it's sort of unique/refreshing to see one come out. I'd like to see a new start-up develop too, rather than companies that got started in the '90s and don't have to rely on ridiculous tech to make things work, just a good idea and elbow grease.
I don't necessarily buy into the "the graphics are too good to be faithfully reproduced on YouTube!" though. Seems like desperate promotional hype to me, though I think with this dev story the game should get some more promotion. It's not going to be vapourware…but I have this nagging feeling it might not live up to the expectations some have for it. _Duke Nukem Forever_s are more common than _Half-Life 2_s, no?
