BTW, my memory seems to fail me but where exactly did one of Robin´s limbs go through somebody?
He's probably referring to when she pretended to kill Vivi.

Robin does seem to possess a somewhat "above average" strength.
After all, each one of her hands is able to strangle a full grown marine (When she used 30 Fleurs against Tashigi's subordinates).
Even if the element of surprise is taken into account, it is still quite a feat.
Wouldn't be surprised if she works out…
Maybe that's part of the DF power? Added strength to the arms?
He's probably referring to when she pretended to kill Vivi.
But that wasn´t a penetration. She just let an arm grow on Vivi´s back. The thing is just that neither Pell nor us reader knew at that point what Robin´s DF powers were so it looked like her real left arm penetrated Vivi. I thought that was pretty obvious.

I don't know. Maybe I just can't remember. I just seem to remember an arm going through someone once.
i remeber that scene with vivi too. I thought it was actually kinda cool how she demonstrated her hand power. Although at the time I read that, I thought she was kinda insane or had a sick sence of humor. Still she has become one of my favorite characters on the strawhat crew.
(submission tho is kinda scary if you think about it,poor pell)
I actually don't see how she should be able to affect Luffy anymore. He's strong/flexible enough to counteract her techniques.
Luffy´s strenght doesn´t have anything to do with it. It´s his rubber body that make bone breaking clutches absolutely useless against him.
Well, not necessarily true. I don't think Robin could clutch a tekkai, and she certainly wouldn't be "familiar enough" with someone using soru to grow arms on them. Luffy can do one Rokushiki technique (so far?). I do think he would have enough power, if not to do tekkai if taught how, to be able to break her hold on him.
Tekkai is a superhuman strength. I thought we were talking about an normal human strength level. <_<

I need to review the Alabastia chapter in question, but Robin isn't very powerful; she's all about brains over brawn, much like Nami and other Shounen women. Notice that wherever Robin disables someone, she removes their ability to use their limbs.
Think back to Dragonball Z, during the battle in which Vegeta fought Doudoria. Vegeta was more powerful that Doudoria, but he still demonstrated "technique" by grabing Doudoria from the back and bracing his arms. In that position, the arm muscles of the teres major and teres minor are not powerful enough to overcome the force holding the arms back, as in, not enough ATP can be generated to pull one arms back foreward.
It's the same kind of thing with a punch; women have powerful hips, and by rotating their hips in the direction of a thrown punch, they can increase the force of impact.
…
Also, to bring up an entirely different discussion though tangently related to this current one, does anyone, aside from myself, consider Blueno's last "Air Door" technique to be...misnamed? Oda said through, I think Kaku, that Blueno can make a door out of anything; perhaps even the fabric of space and time. Judging from where his "air door" lead him, Blueno appeared to be looking at Luffy from atop the Judicial Tower, but completely invisible, as if in a "pocket plane" of sorts. An air door would have just teleported him somewhere else for respite, not in the same place.
Also notice that he was unable to touch Luffy while in that "pocket plane". I derive this from the thought that if he could harm Luffy while concealed, he would have and not risked coming back through his door.
Food for thought, of course. Open wide. ;)
Nah, i'm gonna stick to robin. Think she can sprout her lady parts off of anything too?
Wouldn't Sanji like to know!
Robin should learn Shigan. Then she'd be damn near unstoppable.

I've had the thought of Robin doing that to one of the guys as a prank.
I saw a picture of that (Luffy told Robin to do that to Zoro)
my familes has recently had to be completly rebooted and I do not remeber where I saw it
In particular, I'd had the thought of her doing it to Sanji (perhaps at Nami's suggestion). THye'd get their laugh but Robin would soon gasp in surprise as Sanji soon got over teh shock and got grabby.
her power kind of reminds me of buggy

But in the chapter, each marine still have the use of their arms. The strangulation is done with only one arm for a marine.
Funnily enough, the chapter is 201: "Nico Robin".

But Luffy isn't a normal human strength level, and you said Luffy's strength has nothing to do with the fact that Robin can't beat him.

Yes, I said that. It appears that I wasn´t clear though. What I meant is that Luffy literally doesn´t have to do anything and Robin can´t still hurt him if she just tries to use bone breaking moves.
Though it is a Toei only thing, what she does to Luffy in TV Special 2 proves exactly why she her power is useless against him if she just grabs uses grabbing clutching moves. Luffy doesn´t have to use any strenght. That´s what I meant.
Robin is only powerful against a normal sized foe. If she were against a giant, she can't get a hold of him with her hands. Otherwise, she's god-like in battle.
I dunno….Giants seem easily thrown off balance. She could sprout hands in his heear, or something, and make a giant fall

i think yama's size was not quite normal XD
@'[sTuPiFiEd:
']i think yama's size was not quite normal XD
True, but yama wasn't too huge. 1) She had to sprout 100 hands just to pickup that fat lard. More or less grasp him. 2) When I meant giant, I meant like dorry+brogy's size.
I think it means hear
Yeah, i think if Robin can use Shigan she is nearly unbeatable (except againts logia users such as Aokiji)
It was mentioned in one of the SBS that Robin's abilities can only extend 200 hana hana, yet another one of Oda's imaginary systems of measurement.
A little off-topic, but I thought I'd throw that in for good measure.

He said the same thing about luffy's stretching, I think it was 80 gomu gomu's or something, I think its in one of the first few SBS's or something. I guess its pretty long. He did manage to grab usopp when he fell off the boat in the skypiea ark.
At the time Oda said that, he mentioned that Luffy was training to achieve "100 gomu gomus", and that he was getting closer to that each practice session. Since this was mentioned ages ago in SBS, Oda simply made things even more ambiguous.
When Luffy gets to 2 Poison Gum-Gums, my jaw will hit the floor. Hell, he'd be able to punch Buggy from anywhere on the Grand Line then!
