What? Do you want the entire game to be a cakewalk? Sandal could solo the entire game without a single scratch!
Edit: Also, I could use the transform mirror to maybe make my character look older as the game goes by I hope.
I'd rather see Master Wade and Herren make a return in this Black Emporium

I'd be more surprised if IGN wasn't impressed, however I like a lot of the new images on their site. We get to see a new icon of a smiling drama mask which surely indicates sarcasm, and you get to see some dialogue options. I also liked the image that said Kirkwall - Day. So I guess that means there's a day and night cycle even if it only changes during storyline parts of the game.
Apparently you're allowed to change the night/day cycle at your will.
Another new area revealed: Sundermount.

Perhaps that's meant for strategy sake?
"Ok Hawke, lets go take out their base!"
"Too risky now, lets wait until nightfall".

Thanks. I hadn't heard of that yet. The mountains seem like they would be a good strategic point for Kirkwall.
I also like Tarrin's idea as well. I somehow doubt we could actually use that to any effect, but if you can change it at will, it could make for a nice role-play effect.
Also, those who ordered from the EA store also get an extra item called "The Irons". Basically, it's a belt that adds to all elemental resistances, adds to health, and adds to constitution. Nothing really too special, but probably a bit helpful for those who ordered from there.
Bonus Armor if you purchase Dead Space 2:
http://dragonage.bioware.com/addon/
Awww, c'mon Bioware, we got Blood Dragon armor in Mass Effect 2, can't we get a DA version of the N7?
If anybody is buying Dead Space 2 and doesn't want to use their code, I'd reeeeally like to have it.
Preeeetttty pleeeeeeeeaassee?
Might belong in regular Dragon Age, but going through the character creator again, I just realized something…you can't make an elf with facial hair.
Elves aren't able to grow facial hair in Dragon Age for some reason
Webcomic Awkward Zombie posits an interesting question today:
…Why are Templars so stupid?
Pfffffft. Ahahahaha!!
It looks like we'll be going up against some Templars in DA2. Fun fun!

Hahaha, beautiful. This is why I turn off consistent blood .
Hahaha, beautiful. This is why I turn off consistent blood .
What makes it funnier is that even if you turn off the blood, he's using BLOOD magic so there should be SOME blood around.
As for the reason, it's the lyrium. It does stuff to their heads. Loss of common sense is the first thing to go.
Lyrium poisoning is a serious issue!
A little note:
According to Jennifer Hepler, one of the main DA writers, on the Bioware forum, the DLC companion Sebastian will have full dialogues and a follower approval arc, just like the other companions. So he'll be more like Shale, rather than like Zaeed/Kasumi in ME2 where it's "click on this object and hear me talk."
Niiiiiiiice.

Elves in some lore can't grow facial hair. I think the Tolkien Elves can't grow facial hair, either.
What bothers me the most is the Beardless dwarves. That's just weird… I've never seen Dwarven Lore where they don't have beards.

Yeah…That was a bit weird too. I mean I got used to it, and obviously, it's not like they can't shave due to the hair having nerves in it or something. Plus, it'd be weird for a dwarf to come out with a beard. Still, you get so used to seeing bearded dwarves, it's odd to see ones that are clean-shaven.

Awesome! Shale was so damn awesome, so this is promising news.
The Bioware forums never cease to disappoint. There was a very flimsy rumor that there was going to be a demo today. Instead, it was an announcement about a closed beta for the Dragon Age Legends Facebook game. Now, a ton of posters seem to think they're entitled to some sort of public apology for getting their hopes high when Bioware never confirmed anything.
Edit: The Demo's real, but it's only being given to Gamestop employees for now. The demo'll be released on February 23. It also seems like it's a PC only demo. I bet the demo will be pirated within the week if not at least over the next three days. You can also expect video footage of whatever is in the demo soon as well i'm sure which most likely includes Fem!Hawke's voice.
Bioware is further teasing us by releasing a demo:

In the latest Game Informer magazine, it has been confirmed who the last companion(as far as I know) to join Hawke through his journey in Dragon Age 2. While no scans are up, David Gaider confirmed it on the same thread as posted below.
http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/5957698/1 (Spoilers for the next companion on the thread.)
Anyway, the newest companion revealed is….
! drumrolls
! >! The fan favorite mage that is Anders.
! ….I'd be worried about the Dragon Age boards exploding if he wasn't the one who was going to join at this point.
! Also, it seems that the Xbox DAII achievement list has been spoiled now as well. I usually take that as my cue to stay off of the DAII forums from now on. I'll just stick to character trailers and other officially released info from now on.
! Yaaaay, Anders! I guess the fangirls bleated for an Anders romance long and loud enough. Hahahahaha.
! That said, I'm a tad surprised. I mean, people have been predicting this for months, but if I recall correctly, it's optional to NOT recruit Anders in Awakening, so what if you import a DAO save that DIDN'T have Anders in it?
! And awwww, he ran away from the Grey Wardens? Naughty Anders, my Queen Cousland will have words with him.
! And here's the GameInformer article with a screencap and a clip:
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2011/02/07/dragon-age-ii-character-reveal-anders.aspx
! It's a bitch of a clip though. Anders doesn't even talk in it, you only see him standing behind Hawke.
Holy shit holy shit Holy Shit HOLY SHIT.
! Apparently Anders has . . . . . changed. He's got a Spirit of Justice in him.
! We don't know if it's THE Justice from Awakening. But now he's like Wynne 2.0, with a Spirit riding piggy-back.
! Maybe that cat had a spirit which in turn possessed him.:ninja:
! anders? who is that. Looked and don't recall no other gray warden besides duncan, alistar and the 2 that die in the ritual.
! i recal a mage from the mage story line that you do in the origin part that seemed a chicken. but don't recal any other gray wardens

oh ah never got awakenings. not going to give them that much money for that short of gameplay.
besides still pissed at them for their stupid drm stuff they had in dragon age. i hate when i have to worry about internet to play a solo game. yes could go offline to play normally, but any of hte extra stuff had to log in to use
! Talking about this….I probably need to get around to playing Awakening myself at some point...
! Uh, yeah? Why haven't you played Awakening yet?
! Uh, yeah? Why haven't you played Awakening yet?
! Something glitched, and I couldn't transfer my last playthrough over into Awakening. I'm trying to get some more playthroughs done before DAII comes out, so hopefully, I can play it some before DAII comes out. Doing a Dalish Elf playthrough right now….unfortunately, he's probably going to do the 'Ultimate Sacrifice' ending, so I probably wouldn't transfer that to Awakening since it somehow has him survive.
Edit: New info
New official Champion Trailer that focuses on the different classes:
IGN Preview:
First two minutes of DAII: http://www.joystiq.com/2011/02/08/see-the-first-two-minutes-of-dragon-age-2/#continued
11 minutes of gameplay and interview: http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-road-show-dragon-age-ii/17-3772/
Ooooooh.
And:
! I guess Ander's hosting a Spirit of Justice explains how he's in DA2 even if he can die in Awakening. The Spirit is keeping him alive, ala Wynne.
! Now I'm really wondering if Anders is Wynne's son. He seems about the right age, and the fact that he's a Spirit Healer, and now a spirit host, just gives him tons of parallels.
Okay, the official reveal is out. It's Anders, non-spoiler readers.
http://dragonage.bioware.com/da2/world/characters/
And Anders is in deep shit. Like DEEP SHIT.

The spirit eyes pic looks badass. Also, the plot sorta makes me think of Wild Flower from Jade Empire except there only being one demonic spirit and having to fight it himself.
They do indeed look badass. However I'm really worried for Anders.
There had BETTER be a way to turn Justice back to normal, because I do NOT want to see a dead Anders.
Hell, that's one reason I take him with me in my final party in Awakening, just to make sure he doesn't risk dying at the Keep.

Well, I'm sure his quest'll include something along the lines of turning Justice back to normal. Maybe it'll even be a situation like you get this privilege if you let Justice take over Anders.
! Of course, I guess they could always go the Thane situation where there really isn't a cure unless they make one in an expansion pack or Mass Effect 3.
Well, both DAO and Awakenings found a reason to send us to the Fade. (more than twice, if you played a Mage)
Maybe we'll be able to enter the Fade at one point and confront Justice/Vengeance and see if he can't be turned back.
Aaannnd, Merrill is official.
Wow so there's 3 girls already? Looks like they want to keep the girl-guy ratio just about even this time. Actually wasn't Flemeth part of the hero's party as well?

Flemeth isn't a party member. That was most likely a rumor thinking back on it.
Flemeth is going to be a bigger part of the story, but yeah, she's not part of the party.
lol at the Bioware boards. People are arguing heavily over who the designated LIs are. I'm thinking it's pretty obvious that the LIs are going to be Isabella, Merril, Anders, and Fenris. A human and an elf for each gender. (although who's the bi one is still up in the air).
And dammit they had BETTER make Sebastian an LI. I don't care if he's DLC. Do you know how many DLC they could sell if the DLC character was romancable!?
Woot! IGN posted an Anders clip:
zCrKC12Lxl0
I must say, he looks better than I had hoped. And it sounds like they overlapped Justice/Vengeance's voice over his, at least for that clip.

and for the male bisexual side.

"It's not gay if it's an elf."
There's also the possibility that the three of them are LI's, but I doubt that. If they aren't, then yeah. Varric's both a dwarf and the narrator, and Aveline has already been married and seems older which makes the others much more obvious LI's.
loool. I love that Penny Arcade strip. Although if Alistair left in Tycho's game, that can only mean one thing. He only leaves if you spare Loghain, so Tycho betrayed Alistair and spared him!
Aveline has been confirmed as NOT an LI on the Bioware forums. Which to me means probably Varric isn't, although he's got a giant fanbase who will be pissed off if they hear that. I'm pretty sure Anders is, as Bioware usually gives the player at least one human LI. Hell, I'd even say he's the bi one, just cause it's Anders the Giant Flirt. That and we already had a bi elf in DAO, why repeat ourselves?
