Yeah. And Zoro's totally unnecessary too, when you think about it. Man, let's just get rid of him, too.
FINALLY! A New Eye-catch (Robin)
-
-
Ack, I find this sorta lame, Robin is like the most useless character
You say that as if they weren't going to make one for every character.
-
No Robin sits on her butt & acts all smart when really she isn't a necisary character.
WTF?!!? Please don't tell me you mean that. she is as far as i've seen the key to the weapons and possibly one piece.
-
No Robin sits on her butt & acts all smart when really she isn't a necisary character.
I think she is one of the most important characters in the story, for a bunch of different reasons. I'd rather not put some of the more obvious ones up, in case of spoiling it for people not up to Water7 and Enies Lobby… but yeah.
-
Please, anyone who ever says ANY member of the crew is useless is really out of touch with the story. I'm sure Oda plans out having useless people become one of the main characters. Right.
-
@Mog:
Yeah. And Zoro's totally unnecessary too, when you think about it. Man, let's just get rid of him, too.
True but Zoro is a powerful fighter, ya needs some brute force.
-
True but Zoro is a powerful fighter, ya needs some brute force.
And robin's not? It's not only about brute force, but how usefull you are to the crew and that they are your nakama. The same can sometimes be said about luffy being a captian in some people's eyes.
-
Well I just don't find her that important, but I'll chill since character bashing isn't allowed….but I just wanna say one more thing.....in the rules when they say no character bashing, they give many statements of bashing Robin as an example
-
Robin was Crocodile's partner. Meaning she was stronger than all the other Baroque Works. And Pell too. Robin can also sprout her arms inside of other people. Meaning she could probably reach inside someone's body and crush their heart. With all the body parts she can produce, that's a heck of a lot of brute strength.
And she's useful in the fact that her archaeological skills and knowledge of history, not to mention street sense, makes her one of the most important crew members of all in their search for One Piece. She's the only person alive in the world that can read ancient text, which could be a key to finding One Piece. -
Perhaps, but like I said in another topic, ya can't judge by the possibility of the future.
-
Well, you could. The straw hats are determined to find their dreams, and I'm sure a lot of people want to know about the true history of the One Piece world.
-
this may be off topic but have you read the manga Orange Pie Gozar?
-
Perhaps, but like I said in another topic, ya can't judge by the possibility of the future.
It's more like inevitability. Like the inevitability that Luffy will find One Piece and become Pirate king, and Sanji will find All Blue, etc..
this may be off topic but have you read the manga Orange Pie Gozar?
I've read Orange Pie volume 3. <_< Proof that Nami can handle quite a lot. XD
-
Considering she can read the glyphs and since that seems to be where the story is going…. yeah, I'd say she's kinda important. In what ways is she useless, I mean seriously.
-
this may be off topic but have you read the manga Orange Pie Gozar?
Yes, I do, they are so great <3
-
Well, these are Zoro's and Nami's but can I post here!?=)
-
Roflmao! Oh man, I love Zoro's one. That face reminds me of uh, well me… when I wake up in the mornings.
Nice catch, sera. =)
-
OMG LOL! I kinda knew that they'd catch him doing something like that, it's either sleeping or training… and yawning they did :D Thanks Sera for those! ^__^
PS. In which ep did Zoro's one feature? -
Ep. 244, I guess. Which would've finished under an hour ago.
-
Oh great ;)
Thanks Battle Franky =) -
Yeah I just watched the episode a lil while ago and it was uncanny how people predicted here what those splashes would be! Nice Sera already got screenshots up; I was comin' to spread the word. I would assume next week there will be more new crew. Prolly Usopp and Chopper? Save Sanji for "Bingo" maybe?
-
I like the face Nami makes
-
I am so very happy about the new splashes. ^_^
-
Splashes! Hey, it's Nami's W7 outfit! Maybe they will change it accordingly, depending on what clothes the crew are wearing at present time…
-
LOL, the Zoro one is great.
-
You know sometimes I´m a bit slow but I actually just realized what the revelation of this splash pages means. It means that my hope can be restored to hear what theme the new crewmember will be given. Yippie!!!
BTW, now that we see that Zoro has his swords, Nami the pinwheel and maps and Robin her books as the items that mean much to theme I feel somehow that Luffy´s is a bit strange. I mean the Straw Hat belongs there no doubt since nothing is more important to him, but why the vest? Wouldn´t a piece of meat be much better?

Meat probably wouldn't last long enough for them to take a clip of it what with Luffy's appetite

Then how about epty plates with meat and fishbones in it?
-
This week, only Chopper's one.
-
OMG, Chopper's expression in the 2nd and 3rd pic is hilarious XD
Thanks sera! ^_^ -
Thanks for the images sera. =)
You know, I really begin to wonder why Toei started so late with the other eyecatches and thinking about it doesn´t lead to a positive conclusion for me. I´m really affraid that Toei could pull a large spoiler here if they would start to add the new member after Sanji and Usopp are revealed. It´s just that the revelation of the other eyecatches goes almost coherent to the Cutty Flam revelation. Hope they don´t pull another Nico Robin here this time if it is truly the guy I believe in to join the Strawhats.
-
How would Toei know, exactly? Even if Oda somehow reveals to them who the new member (if any) were to be, if they were to put him in the eyecatches it'd be a spoiler even to the manga readers.
That would make no sense whatsoever.
And besides, the whole Robin thing was an opening issue. It's not like she was included in any eyecatches before she joined.
-
Yeah right, the thing is that even in the manga (if there will be as Mog pointed out) there are no new crewmembers… and I don't think Oda reveals anything so important in the plot to Toei...
You can never say... but I think the situation, at least at the moment, is different from the Nico Robin issue. So it would be quite difficult for them to pull off a spoiler in an eyecatch at the moment...
Yet, I wouldn't be surprised if they do one for Franky, even though it's a remote possibility... -
To me there´s no doubt that Toei know´s because of the simple reason that the voice actors must have a contract whether or not they will be permanentally in the show or just for a one time thing. Animation companies put a lot of consideration in casting based on this factor.
And I know with what I´m going to say I´m gonna get probably blamed by people who don´t share my view, but at the current part of the manga it really actually shouldn´t be much of a spoiler. I know that people disagree with me on that but that doesn´t change it for me that actually it is obvious who will join. Especially since that one Mugiwara Pirates vs Cipher Pol no 9 spread. I don´t want to start a new discussion it´s just how I see it and if Toei the same on that matter then they would have no reason to think of it as a manga spoiler. Maybe that´s even the reason why they waited so long. You know the colore spread thing.
But you´re right about the Robin thing. It was a spoiler in the opening but the eyecatches so far follow the content in the episodes and there she didn´t get her own eyecatch until she really joined the crew. I hope Toei keeps it that way.
-
The color spread will definitely influence Toei… I'm sure...
And the VA's contract issue is another thing to take into consideration... but, I don't actually think it's that important. In any case, I'd be really surprised if Toei does anything of the sort... with the manga situation as it is at the moment. (I can't imagine what will happen if they pull out one with Paulie or Franky when the Enies Lobby eps start up... =P Yeah yeah, too remote an idea I know :P) -
@_Vivi_:

Believe me in a company that has the purpose to make money there´s nothing more important than contracts. They definitely influence lot of the philosophy of a company and the bosses always like to be in the better position towards the employee´s.
Let´s for instance say one of the voice actors has been higher only for this arc but then it turns out that his character is the new Strawhat crewmember. Then he could start asking for a higher payment and if the bosses don´t want to do it they will hire another VA which would leave a somewhat unpleasant taste to the product (the anime) itself. Just imagine that for instance we get another Franky VA now that Yao has grown on us. And even if people didn´t like his portrayal of the character it would still leave a unpleasant taste to it which could have been avoided with the proper contract. That´s how it works in this world.

That's nonsense, sorry. Even if Franky were likely to join, Toei assuming it to be so and adding such gigantic spoilers would be so ludicrously stupid it's insane. At this point in the anime, Franky's an enemy, or a side-character at best. In the manga, he's not much better off. Fans like yourself might assume he'll join, but you're not Oda. Halfway through the Alabasta arc, would you think Vivi or Nico Robin would be more likely to join the Strawhats? Hey, Vivi appeared in a couple of colour spreads, so that's basically proof, right?
There's no telling, in the slightest what or who Oda's planning. And even if Toei were somehow in the know (I doubt this), spoiling it like that would, once again, be a ludicrously stupid move that would make no sense whatsoever.
And I hardly think Toei'd, when casting the Water 7 people, go over to Oda and ask ''Hey, is this or this guy gonna be a crewmember or anything? We don't want to be overpaying them or anything.'' They'd have to do that with every single casting they make, and once again, that would make no sense. Also, no castmember is ever really permanent. I'll take Vivi as an example again… She left. So in being, her actress had not much more of a role than Franky, or Pauly, who both seem to have appeared in almost every episode of the Water 7 arc so far. If one of them were to become a Strawhat, they'd simply keep up their role longer. And no VA would be stupid enough to go asking for a pay-rise when that would happen.
A character's pay is not defined by if they're a Strawhat or not, it's by how large a role they have. And right now, let's take Pauly as an example. His role's basically just as big as that of a Strawhat. Or Lucci, if you want to make a stretch.
Granted, I don't know that much about the VA business, but to me, what you're saying makes no sense. Perhaps it would for big Hollywood actors, but this is a cartoon we're talking about here.

I elaborated that hole Vivi thing very extensively in the Franky vs. Paulie thread and I seriously don´t feel the need to elaborate it here again.
There's no telling, in the slightest what or who Oda's planning. And even if Toei were somehow in the know (I doubt this), spoiling it like that would, once again, be a ludicrously stupid move that would make no sense whatsoever.
Hey I already said with the post that started this that it would be a stupid move from Toei. No need to tell me that. I actually just mentioned it because I was affraid of Toei pulling a stupid move.
I think it was in that interview with Oda and the producer of the anime (don´t remember his name) where Oda actually said that they had creative freedom just for the voices for the main cast, he (Oda) was a little bit insisting on how they were supposed to sound like. If I´m not mistaken then Omae has this thing up on his side.
Other than that, no matter how stupid you consider it if a VA is asking for a pay rise that doesn´t mean that it doesn´t happen. Wasn´t there the problem with the VA of Homer Simpson that he didn´t want to work on the series anymore after his old contract has ended? You and I might consider it as stupid, but that doesn´t mean that bureaucratic institutions don´t operate exactly like that that they try to prevent being brought in a position where an employee can ask for too much. That´s just how it works in the economic world.A character's pay is not defined by if they're a Strawhat or not, it's by how large a role they have. And right now, let's take Pauly as an example. His role's basically just as big as that of a Strawhat. Or Lucci, if you want to make a stretch.
That was so much not what I´ve tried to say. It isn´t even just about raising the payment or not. If for some reason a VA doesn´t want to work on the series or whatsoever but the company wants him in it then they more or less have him/her in their hands with a contract.
The point is that in the contract it is mentioned how long a person will work for the company and since the VA´s also have lives they have to know how long they will be linked to the company. Neither way if a company is casting new employees for a big project then they have to tell the employees on how long they except them to be working for them so that they (the employees) can decide whether or not their personal and business life can cope with this role or not. It´s not just the case for Toei, it´s how every big company works. People have to know whether they are hired permanentally or just for a determined amount of time.Granted, I don't know that much about the VA business, but to me, what you're saying makes no sense. Perhaps it would for big Hollywood actors, but this is a cartoon we're talking about here.
Believe me it doesn´t matter if it is a big or large company. People build their existences on their jobs and therefore there´s plenty of factors that influence people´s choice of a job or not. Just as I said above, in order to plan life accordingly they have to know what to expect of their job. Especially in jobs that are built around projects since every project comes to an end sooner or later and therefore you have to know how long you will be linked to it.
My father runs a building business and I help him in the office. And it´s the same thing. Since we´re working on different projects we have to let our employees know how long we expect them to work for us, since so that they can plan what to do once their job for us is finished.I´m not trying to be a smartass or anything. I just try to explain how companies that work on projects (no matter of what kind) run business. I don´t even know if I was able to explain it good since I´m now awake for over 36 hours. So if there was some difficult to understand blah blah blah, feel free to get back at me Mog. I´ll try my best to make it better understandable but I think that I´ll do that tomorrow if necessary. Hope you don´t mind me.
-
what exactly is chopper hiding behind? looks like he's floating in midair there.
-
I have a question: are they using the same music that they used to use in the older eyecatches?
-
Yes, they're still using the same themes..
-
I thought so. Thanks. =)
…Wonder what Franky's will sound like. Er, if he joins.
-
…Wonder what Franky's will sound like. Er, if he joins.
Yep, that is exactly the reason why I wanted for all the Strawhat´s eyecatches to come back. It would have been lame if the new guy would have his own music.
BTW, is it just me or do the eyecatches somehow seem rashed in comparison to the old ones. I mean the last frame should run for a couple of seconds longer finishing quietly and then starting either the next eyecatch or the episode again.
Yeah I know sometimes I´m picky, but please forgive me, I play an instrument myself and therefore I always have this attention when something ends to quick before letting it be heard/seen to it´s fullest. It´s hard to discribe this sound thing on the net. =( -
Finally(?), Sanji's and Usopp's eyecatches!!
Sanji's eyebrow … too much.XD
-
Finally(?), Sanji's and Usopp's eyecatches!!

Rockin! thanks sera. So who said Usopp couldn't have an eyecatch?
-
Usopps eye wasw glass then it was an eye. Heee heee hee hee. I get amused too easily
-
I love Sanji's splash page the most ^______^ squeeeeeels
