WHOOOOOOO!!! Excellent goal~! :D
David Villa! GOOOAAAAAAAAL
Ok, I was about to post that tonight's game is the perfect example as to why Xavi is the perfect team leader. His pace, control, experience of running back in defense, creation of plays and in general everything is perfect. I could teach a fucking seminar with clips from this game.
The most important aspect, is that he doesn't worry about who's getting the assist or the goal, he's not worrying about statistics, he'll trust his teammates and let them do his job, he's just controlling the entire field.
But damn… god fucking damn, how is David Villa making goals look so simple. He doesn't even have to try.
Bastard... I'm afraid to jinx Spain..
Also tear for Jesus because he's not playing too great tonight...
NICE GOAL AGAIN VILLA! wohoo
EDIT; OMG there's blood. Piqué got a foot on in the face, think he cracked the lip?
EDIT; PENALTY GOAL…go Villa! NOOOOOO, what miss Dx
Beautiful goal! But I think this ref is light years better than most of the ones we've seen. Two cards, I think? The average is now 4 or 5 per half.
But damn… god fucking damn, how is David Villa making goals look so simple. He doesn't even have to try.
He has a great technique and is really intelligent. He is always in a place where there are nearly no defender.
Oh, penalty.
EDIT: Oh come on! How can he miss it.
….He... missed? :cwy:
bahahahah nice penelty lmao
Almost as bad as Green.
Poor Fabby… such tomfoolery.
Don't get why RTL can't fix that 2 sec delay in their broadcast. It's really annoying to know what happens just before you see it happen…
(Ok, RTL being the dork channel number one, probably didn't realise it at all...)
Villa not getting thrown out is another gracious rape for one team from the ref...

This is a terrible week for the ref.
Don't get why RTL can't fix that 2 sec delay in their broadcast.
Maybe Calmund is standing on the cables? Try move that guy if he doesn't want to
do they have a live stream?
do they have a live stream?
There you go:

EDIT. It's over and I really see Spain in danger here
Scheiße… Wtf do i do watching crap streams on tvuplayer. Thx feierbiest.
I jinxed them
Well, that pretty much confirms it, Spain is fucked. As always (with the exception of 2008) they totally lack the nerves worthy of a tournament team. No surprise there.

Honduras is nice, really.

Spain only needs to defeat Chile.:wassat:

Which is what they won't accomplish.
Which is what they won't accomplish.
Which is what I doubt Even though I wouldn't mind.
We'll have to wait and see.

With the exception of the last major tournament? Lol. How does this game against Honduras confirm that Spain are fucked?
No sir, Ivotas views these games with a field of vision far beyong today's match, and sadly it's better than mine.
Because his post was right on the money.
@Das:

Spain has a large tradition of failing at the World Cup. That mostly because they lack the winners mentality. They always have a large winning streak before the tournament, manage to even play good football now and then but in the end fail miserably. They are like the opposite of Germany that no matter how bad they might play always give you the impression that they are going to win their next confrontation.
@$abZ:

See what I wrote in my previous paragraph. As long as I'm watching football Spain has always been like that in the big tournaments (as I said, with the expection of 2008). They always arrive top prepared with a top team and with a large winning streak and yet their lack of a winners vibe works is like a clockwork.

This would be so much more true if Spain hadn't won Euro 2008.

Of course they have but they usally make it past group stage (If my memory serves me correctly) and go out somewhere around quarter-final.

Which part of "with the exception of 2008" did you not get actually?

That's what I've heard in so many World Cups before and yet it was always proven wrong.
Which part of "with the exception of 2008" did you not get actually?
How can you except something that flaws your arguement?
Spain hadn't won anything since 1964. Now that they have won the Euro Cup, it's ridiculous to say that their nervous run will carry on, especially by saying "they're fucked"; which they really aren't.
Yeah World cup is all about the mental state.
For example I hate it when African countries struggle to the 16th or 8th finale and then are in a state like they've won the cup and loose the motivation to continue.
It's like you can read from their faces "we did good for Africans, we don't need to win this one at all cost anymore" …. It happened with senegal, nigeria, cameroun and others...
I think Spain and Argentina have the strongest squads.
@$abZ:
How can you except something that flaws your arguement?
Because an exception is exactly that, an exception. I would rather say how does an exepction flaw the argument when there's half a dozen of situations where the argument was on spot?

How can you say that it is ridiculous when in todays match you could see how nervous they were? Winning does not equal showing souvereignity. Did you look at the players faces during the game? They didn't look like winners (except for when they were celebrating goals). If I wouldn't have known the result I would have expected that they were losing if I'd be just going by their expressions. They simply lack the winners mentality. It was visible in their faces.
Furthermore if football was that easy as you make it seem with "now that they have won x" argument then Brazil would have won the last World Cup, France the previous and so on. That Spain was good at Euro 2008 means little to nothing in this tournament, especially not with their performance in this cup today. I'm pretty sure they are fucked.
That's what I've heard in so many World Cups before and yet it was always proven wrong.
What? Spain went out in the group stage exactly 1-time in the last 28 years. How is that always?

It shouldn't be excepted because it was the last major tourno. They proved they could win a major tourno with the pressure of their country on them.
I didn't think they were nervous. Yes they missed chances, but they won 2-0. Also their passing was very accurate and they created chances… not the signs of a nervous team (like England who couldn't string any passes together and didn't create any good chances).
By your logic Spain wouldn't have won the Euro 2008; but they did.
Tomorrow's wish:
Group A:
South Africa-France 0-3
Mexico-Uruguay 2-0
Very unlikely, but funny situation since the qualified will be decided by drawing lots.
Tomorrow's prediction:
Group B:
Greece-Argentina 1-3
South Korea-Nigeria: 1-1
South Korea and Argentina qualify.
@Das:
What? Spain went out in the group stage exactly 1-time in the last 28 years. How is that always?
Where did I say that failing in the past equals losing in the group phase? The group phase thing was in context with them failing this year right now.

Yeah, and Greece won the Euro 2004. Didn't see them mutating into super winners because of that. And the point stands, France was an uber team before the cup 2002, Brazil was so before 2006. Yet they failed albeit having top quality players to have won the respective World Cups. If football was that simple that the top favorites win easily there'd be no reason to search for a new champ in the first place.

Their passing was accurate because Honduras was that bad. And they were pretty much nervous because besides Sergio Ramos nobody really seemed to really want run the opponent down. Everytime before the opponents box they were passing each other the ball as if they were saying "here, you take responsibility, I'm too scared to shoot". And as I said in my previous post, except for when they scored the goals, they've never looked like winners when you looked in their faces. Their expressions never indicated that they were the ones that are actually dominating the match. That's the lack of a winners mentality.

I never said that Spain will definately win. I said that saying that they are not going to win because of previous competitions, and excepting the most recent international tourno we've had, is ridiculous.

Algeria weren't all that. England looked like a nervous team. It wasn't because Honduras suck… I saw a lot of clever movement and great long passes from Spain. Some players were showing great skill too, like David Villa scoring the first goal.
And have you ever watched Arsenal play? They also play too many passes without shooting. That's not nervousness, it's a style of play.
now on to Wednesday. ahhhh shit I have work from 6:00AM to 12:00PM. I will record and watch as soon as I get home >_>
@$abZ:

I find it funny that you continue calling it ridiculous when my examples of Greece, France and Brazil are definite proof for what I'm saying.
Algeria weren't all that. England looked like a nervous team. It wasn't because Honduras suck… I saw a lot of clever movement and great long passes from Spain. Some players were showing great skill too, like David Villa scoring the first goal.
That was a genius moment indeed. However one of Villa alone and not product of dominant team play.
And have you ever watched Arsenal play? They also play too many passes without shooting. That's not nervousness, it's a style of play.
I guess you don't get what I'm saying. Passing is all nice and well but successfully passing does not automatically equal lacking nervousity. You can just aswell have a nice pass and display that you totally don't know what to make of it. And with all that quality Spain has, they didn't make any dominant use of their pass play. And that's definitely not because of their opponent who was weak as hell. The Spanish team was simply passing responsibility to the next person (as I said, except for Sergio Ramos, who was the only one who displayed a winners mentality today).
I said it once already - If what you say is valid, then Spain wouldn't have won Euro 2008 because they "don't have winning mentality".
I can explain it in terms of tonight's match.
I thought Spain played very well tonight, Xavi and Capdevilla were especially exceptional and Villa was great.
A couple of things happened however, and Spain showed it's not going to win the tournament.
First of all: Jesus Navas is my boy, love him and all, but this wasn't his day, he should have taken a breather at around 70 to recouperate for the next match, instead he psyched himself way out.
Secondly: Torres isn't getting the touches he wants, and he psychologically fucks himself. Yes, he did have the injury, but 2008, he had a scoring boom in England. Right now his mind is afraid.
Third: Villa misses the penalty horribly, for what reason I can't fathom, BUT instead of getting back into the game, his mind gets fucked, and as a result the rest of the team's game falls also.
Fourth: Xavi leaves the field and the middle is hopelessly lost, they lost the ball far too often.
Fifth: Fabregas entry was very good, and Mata was ok, but they play like they don't know the systems.
In 2008, when Spain made a substitution for Fabregas, or someone else, it was OBVIOUS as hell, that all the players knew the status, ok this is what I have to do.
Fab went in like a madman attacking the goalie, sure it's a positive, but he hogged the left side, which Mata was supposed to cover instead of controlling the center. Likewise, Mata was kind of playing Forward which isn't his forte.
All in all, Spain can pass the group stage, but the tournament seems too far for them to win with this psychology.
@$abZ:
I said it once already - If what you say is valid, then Spain wouldn't have won Euro 2008 because they "don't have winning mentality".
Maybe they are sated? :ninja:
@$abZ:

Lol, funny how you despertely cling to this point and yet have absolutely argument to deny the point I made about Greece, France and Brazil. You're basically saying that an exception equals a rule.
Lol, funny how you despertely cling to this point and yet have absolutely argument to deny the point I made about Greece, France and Brazil. Keep pretending that an exception equals a rule.
If I said that Spain were going to win the tourno, then those points would be valid. But I didn't.
@$abZ:
If I said that Spain were going to win the tourno, then those points would be valid. But I didn't.
That doesn't really change a thing because your point is pretty much the same when you're trying to say that they have a winners mentality this tournament because of them having had one two years ago.
Ivo, your point about France isn't 100% due to a moment of weakness by Zinedine, if he had stayed in the game, I would wager that Italy wouldn't have taken it.
Or at least, the penalties would have lasted into the second round.
That doesn't really change a thing because your point is pretty much the same when you're trying to say that they have a winners mentality this tournament because of them having had one two years ago.
I'll repeat myself again.
My point is - Saying that Spain don't have winners mentality would be reasonable if they didn't win Euro 2008. Because they won that, they've shown that they can win something. I'm not saying Spain will win the World Cup, I'm saying you can't rule them out for your reasons. I bet you ruled them out of winning the Euro 2008 too because they hadn't won anything since 1968… but Spain won and they were the best team in the competition. Spain have a quality team that can win a competition - fact. Anything can happen in the World Cup, but I wouldn't say Spain are fucked after tonight.
