I wonder if they'll reveal the game at E3?
One Piece - Gigant Battle (New DS game)

@Brad:
I wonder if they'll reveal the game at E3?
I hope not… E3 is still a few months away. Moreover, I don't think Nintendo would want to reveal a Japanese game in E3. I expect them to showcase bigger games.
-
well thats not very exciting but with that contest finally over we can start seeing some shots or something
-

Didn't they do a trailer that showed off some of the initial Wii games which included Unlimited Adventure back before it came out in the US?
Either way, we'll find out soon enough.
…hopefully.
-
Yeah, oddly enough Nintendo pushed UA quite a bit in the US with showcasing the Wii. It was even one of Nintendo's demos at E3.
-
Yeah it was pushed in the UK too and we never ended up getting it at all XD Was even given release dates and all. Then funi came along and said no.
-
I forgot this even existed and I'm the one who MADE the topic!
Why announce it so early if we weren't getting any info on it?
-
Most Game developers do it XD
And we do have some information on it. We know that it at least has The Mugiwara, BB, WB, Ace and Hancock in.
-
Why Hancock? Haven't seen anything about her.
On the official site there are pictures of Whitebeard, Blackbeard, Ace and Luffy.
I hope we get info and game release soon, I really want to see what this game is. -
There was some mention of choices of in-game teams a while back. One the developers said themselves was the team of Nico Robin, Nami and Boa Hancock.
To be honest I think after the Mugiwara, Ace, BB and WB Hancock is one of the more obvious choices.
-
Really? Sounds nice.
I hope to see the Blackbeard pirates, and not just Blackbeard in there.
It's so annoying that they announce the game and we know almost nothing about it, like Zelda Wii. xD
Edit: but at least Zelda Wii has a release date. (Sort of, Cammie(SP?) said it'll be released in 2010) -

There you go blaming FUNi again. FUNi had no control over the game, they were contracted to produce the dub for the game, that's it. The reason UA didn't get released in the UK is because Namco Bandai said "no", not FUNi. If UA sold well in the states you guys probably would have got it, but again that was Namco Bandai's fault.
They made a very small shipment that was spread across all the retailers, resulting in practical no store having. On top of that, zero advertising. It was advertised extensively in American Shonen Jump, but most of those readers who cared more than likely already knew about.
This sequel being announced was properly the final nail in the coffin for a UK release. And hey, you got it! I can't see how you can complain when UC is superior to UA.

Hmmm….eh....I dunno.
I do like the conveniences that were provided in UC (such as the slingshot) but I definitely had more fun with UA (it was bigger, better story, longer, it felt like I was actually exploring something, boss fights were more epic).

Errrr no.
The game WAS to be released in the UK. We had release dates and everything.
Funi come along. All of a sudden we aren't getting the game. Considering Funi don't have ANY of their stuff being released in stores in the UK (DVDs etc.) kinda makes me suspicious of them more than Namco Bandai.
-
Well, you're wrong. If Namco Bandai wanted UA released in the UK, it would have been.
-
It's actually possible that Funimation had a hand in UA's failure to be released in the UK, directly or indirectly. If Funimation holds the license to the distribution of One Piece outside of the Japanese market, they have the final word. Funi's an American company, but according to the Wiki they're responsible for the international distribution of certain anime series in English-speaking countries as well.
These days, even the original makers of things often don't have all the rights to their work. Even though Namco Bandai produced the game, if they sold the distribution rights to Funimation then I don't think they really can do much about it. American licensing laws are crazy.
-
If Funi does have final say on what gets released where why haven't they released Unlimited Cruise here then? Oh yeah because Namco Bandai are the ones who have final say and they don't have much faith in the franchise over here in the states anymore after all the duds released for the Gamecube and PS2. The Wii game was just the final nail in the coffin.

I don't remember the UK getting a solid release date, all we had was vague dates plus it was never officially announced we were getting it, all we had to go by was OMN (and I think Ngamer) saying it was getting a UK release.
Besides, we do get games that feature the FUNImation cast (like the DBZ games, although we did get a lot of them in Japanese only for a while) even though we might not have had their dub in our country (like DBZ again, we only got a part of the FUNI dub before it switched to the Ocean dub).

Unlimited Adventure was distributed by Bandai Namco not FUNImation so they didn't sell the distribution rights or anything. Remember, the game's dub wasn't done directly by FUNImation, but the company that Chris Sabat owns (or something).
We do get FUNImation dubs of anime, but it's done through a re-distributor (like Manga Entertainment).
I think the main cause of the UK not getting UA is because of poor sales in America, and that's also why UC also skipped America.

"FUNi came along"? FUNi was involved since it was first announced, bro.
It's not FUNi's fault, for reasons already said, so don't blame them. What makes more sense to you?
FUNi: One Piece? Yeah, let's distribute it so we can make more money!
Namco-Bandai: Hmmm, these video games sold pretty bad, let's not sell them elsewhere…
It's obviously NB's fault. FUNi is putting out as much OP stuff as they can and NB is putting out so little, so which one looks like the culprit? And even if FUNi WAS in control of getting OP elsewhere, it wouldn't be their fault it's not in the UK, because no sub-licensors want to buy it off them.

Can you guys please take this talk to the Unlimited Cruise thread where it belongs instead of constanly replying in here making people think that there's actually news on Project Jet?

I second this. I've come over this thread several times when it's bumped hoping to get more info in Proyect Jet :P

This thread's been inactive for a day or two now before you came and bumped it again. Just saying.
-
(I know I just bumped it too, lol.) -
There was something wrong with what i posted? Well, i guess we should all be shut up until some news are released… ( bumped it again -.-)
Yeah, ypu're right, is kinda Ironic xD, just wanted to show my support T_T.

Nothing was really wrong with what you posted. I just pointed out that, for someone supporting the desire to have people stop posting in this thread until there's real Project Jet info, it was ironic that you chose to bump it to make a point of supporting the idea when others had already stopped posting a while ago, thereby bumping the thread yourself.
My last post then. __ LOL

The official website have been updated. Since I don't speak japanese I don't know what it means, it looks like an ad, but maybe it's very important ! :)

(the Log Collection thing…)

Well, I can't fault you for this bump since it was an update but it's just for the CD collection with the openings and endings that just came out. Nothing really related to the game.
-
Judging by how long they take to release any info this game will most probably come out when Luffy is ten years older. I mean two of the characters featured on the side are dead already.
-
I think theyll give us info about the game when the current arc is finished. Or maybe I just hope.
-
I would love if this were a 'Grand Battle' style game… I'm sure it won't be, but I would love if it were.
Are Namco Bandai the only developers working on it?
-
It has been like a month since somebody posted here. Is there really no news yet for this game?
-
I checked a few days ago, and the website still hadn't been updated. You'd think they'd have given us screenshots or the game's genre by this point, but it's been five months without any new information. Hopefully we get something once the anime reaches the arc after Impel Down, seeing as (from what little we know) the game seems to be focusing on Impel Down and the arc after it.

New pics:
!
-
Awesome! So this brings up the list of confirmed chars up to:
Luffy,
Zoro,
Usopp,
Sanji,
Nami,
Robin,
Chopper (Brain)
Brook,
Rayleigh
Kizaru (parts can be seen to the right of Rayleigh pic)
Kuma,
Franky
Ace?
Whitebeard?
Blackbeard?
Hancock? (Her name was slipped out in an all-girls team.) -
Wait… I think it's not Project Jet?.. But Giant Battle?..
-
@Al!naJames:

In the pictures are the 2 names, so I don´t know if Giant Battle is a game in Project Jet or it´s the same thing
-
The scan zooms in on Robin's boobs.
Why has nobody else commented on that?
-

Because you're the only one here who is obsessed with Robin's boobs?
-
probably.
Coulda been a hidden mini-game for all I know. Poke with the DS stylus
-
In that scan, does it give a rough release date (aside from 2010)? I don't know what it's saying in the top-left corner of the third picture, and that might be saying something about it.
-
@Al!naJames:
Wait… I think it's not Project Jet?.. But Giant Battle?..
Gigant Battle may be the final release name for the game, I think..
Anyway, looks really good, the sprites looks like JUS, which is good. I really hoped they'll use sprites. Can't wait for the game.

-
Yeah, I love sprites.
Though I dont like the 4 player fights that much, JUS was nice but I didn't like it too much. Having only One Piece characters would make the fights crazy, that could be fun.
I wonder how many and what characters will be playable.
And I hope a lot of others will be support characters or something, that way we'll have a lot of them. -
I hope this game goes up to the arc that the anime's going to reach in the next couple of weeks (for the sake of those who haven't caught up, I won't say the name), but if it just goes from Shabondy to the end of Impel Down, that would be okay as well.
I personally hope that Jinbei's included in the game; he played a major role in the Impel Down arc, and he's a major figure in the One Piece world. The only reason I can think of as to why he wouldn't be included would be a lack of moves, but when has that ever stopped game designers before? (ex. Shanks and Mihawk in most games since the series' creation)
-
Well you can see Marineford right there in the logo so I'm assuming they'll also cover that arc as well.
-
I'm not sure if Rayleigh is playable… I don't see a health bar or player indicator next to him... he might just be an assist.
-

yes, it seems Rayleigh will be an assist charac.. .
well I just hope they have many playable character…rather than 100 assist character in this game. -
Usopp and Franky also seem to be assist characters, but I don't see why they wouldn't be playable. Don't count Rayleigh out just yet.
-
Yeah, Project Jet was never gonna be the games name, who thought that? It was a stand-in name, "Project" was a dead giveaway. But the actual name needs work. It needs to be Giant Battle or Gigantic Battle, not Gigant.
So glad it's sprite base, the 3D models were trash.
-

Since the developers of JUS are making this game, they might be using something similar to comma system. Althogh I do not think its the ideal way for one piece game…
anyway I hope Luffy and other chars get many moves.... I hope they do something like Naruto Ultimate ninja 3 where you can customize your own moves.
