The answer here is Jerry Rice, football is about scoring Touchdowns which Jerry is the best at, people seem to think that without Montana & Young Rice wouldn't be so great which is just totally wrong, do you have any idea how many bad passes from those 2 QB's that Rice had caught anyway. Any current starting QB & most backups could have been the QB for the 49's back in the 80's & early 90's & Rice would have been still the best, Rice made those 2, he made them look good. Rice is #1.

In my eyes, John Elway will allways be the best NFL player. He just did so much stuff that he erned my respect, :adore:

You forgot the Fridge.
-
Ummmmmmm, who dat :hmm:
-
William Perry is "The Fridge"
-
Never heard of him, Joe Montana is also a legend in his own right, he was great to watch, my dad has some videos of him playing and its just really cool to watch him play
-
You don't know football my good man.

I'm voting for Sweetness, who played for some pretty awful teams and still managed to set records left and right. Imagine what his stats would have been like if he had been on a team that could have blocked better for him. Not only was he a great football player, but Payton was a stand-up individual as well.
Is it just me or does anybody else think of Eyeshield 21 when they hear Jerry Rice mentioned?

Srry I just sorta got into it, and I dont know I just think that QB is the coolest position, I mean most QBs are head of the team and they call the shots not all the time but allot of the time, and I just think thats just so cool…

Don't worry, I was just kidding. The Fridge was this huge, fat guy who played for the Chicago Bears in the 80's. I only mentioned him for the sake of humor and because I love the Bears. To be honest I'm just getting into Football too.

I don't pay much attention to football, but it's hard not to pay attention in Wisconsin, where almost everyone is a rabid Packers fan.
I vote for "Other" with the additional choice of "Brett Farve".

"We are the Bears, shufflin' crew…."
Best music video ever.
......Guess I'll go with Emitt Smith. He was cool wih me.

I'm like 98% sure he only played for the Bears & in that case, the Bears pwned back then.

I meant teams in the "we have a pretty good team this year" sense; you can play for the same franchise for several years, but be on different teams because the various other players change.
As far as the Bears go, they drafted Walter in 1975. In the thirteen years that followed, they had six winning seasons, four of them in a single stretch from 1984-1987. Most of his career was thus spent on .500 teams or worse.
-
Still, he did go to a Superbowl & wasn;t Payton's day the day of the dominant Bears Defense? The Defese that was being compared to the 2000 Ravens?

Some of them were, but again, those were largely late in his career, not that a strong defense does that much good where a running back is concerned. As good as his stats were, they would have been even better if he had been on teams with a better offensive line.
Plus a better team would have allowed him to rest more, which would have lengthened his career, he often had to carry the Bears by himself in the later '70s.

I doubt that, Payton was just an amazing back, blocking or not he would be amazing, Walter Payton would have bassically the same stats whether he had the (current) Giants O.Line or the (Current) Colts O.Line…...he was just so fast.
