Natsumi had a pactio with someone else? Koutarou?
Ken Akamatsu thread (A.I. Love You, Love Hina, Negima, UQ Holder)
-
-
I said Kotaro was Natsumi's only pactio.
-
Fine.
Just a few chapters back Negi and Kotaro was going around kissing some of the remaining girls to form pactios with them because in an emergency, their new powers could be useful.
I was generalizing.
-
It's funny how Makie is the only member of the Baka Rangers not to have a pactio. You have to admit the whole class is just a bunch of idiots considering they never considered certain events strange before they knew about magic. I know if I witnessed someone exploding from being kissed, i'd go "WTF?!" (referring to the Kiss Negi game around volume 5)

also kind of funny how makie is the like last, well besides the rich girl who isn't in the magic world. but i would have guessed that makie would have been one of the first ones. she has that skill with her gymnastics things that seems liek would make a good weapon, especially after seeing that one guy who used something similar. you know the guy who cut off negi's arm and was the teammate of one of nagi's companions in the final round of the tournament.
yea but i have to agree they are all retards for not noticing stuff earlier. i mean the library thing for one. then the HUGE festival games things, no way could you believe that to be something realistically made. and how much negi does magic and flies around on broom, someone would have seen him. but soemhow this HUGE school only one girl here or there that happens to also be in HIS class are the only ones that ever see him do anything.
-

damn that's surprising
Couldn't have said it any better myself GSM.
-
You asked if she pactio'd with anyone else. I was just telling you she didn't. Wasn't trying to be rude if I came across as it.
Anyway, chapter 275 is up!

Finally, the three week wait is over!!! This break was murder.
All I can say is poor Nodoka:<
-
Oh crap, Nodoka is in big trouble, and what she just witnessed has gotta be crushing.
:< indeed

I just thought of a perfect way for our heroes to get around that reality rewriting artifact. What if it only works on people born in the magic world? That's why the attacks of the soldiers aren't working but those of Yue's and Tatsumiya's do. That would be a clever, non-deus ex machinish way to deal with it. Kinda easy but when you're facing an ability that can warp reality…
Also it would give Nodoka and Asakura SOME chance of not getting killed.
Oh and again, if what happened was permanent, Nodoka T_T
-
No no no, not the best girl. Nope.
-
Couldn't have said it any better myself GSM.
when in the hell did I post in this thread?
-
Just now.
Also, what's this about people dying?
-
latest chapter is out at onemanga.

Good call Lion Chan. The ending seems to completely back this theory up, with Yue totally taking a shot through the back it going through her without harm, (but destroying her fantasy world clothes) while "killing" the one in front of her.
At the same time, so many side characters are getting destroyed I can no longer believe that they're actually getting killed. It must be only a temporary thing.
And what IS it with characters getting hit in the back lately? Naruto, One Piece, now Negima… all within a week of each other... and its probably not going to be fatal for any of them...[/hide]

yeah, pretty much every one of their new friends has been dissapeared in the space of just over a chapter, i'd be pretty surprised if they were all permanently down for the count too.having said that, great chapter, and i see that 278 has been translated as well so hopefully that will get scanlated soon too.

Terek is NOT pleased by this massive slaughter. NOT PLEASED AT ALL.

Terek is NOT pleased by this massive slaughter. NOT PLEASED AT ALL.
Don't worry. Its shonen. When one character dies its a sad tragedy, usually accompanied by a heroic sacrifice and an epic speech, and it is bound to cause rain to pour a the sad funeral, complete with memories and flashbacks of the lost friend, whose death will shape the remaining characters and cause them to change, re-dedicated for the rest of the series.
When dozens of named characters die pointlessly in the course of a few panels… its bound to be undone by the end of the arc. Especially in a magic based series.
Of course, if this were Seinin, they might well all be incredibly screwed. But its not so they're probably fine.
-
Great chapter!!! I love how we kept switching between situations and side-characters. Real testament to Akamatsu's writing skills that he could make it flow so well.
You know it's kinda lame though that Tonkichi's sacrifice was for nothing since that beam wouldn't have hurt the sports girls anyway but I guess he couldn't know that.
Oh and even if it's not permanent, it must be pretty tragic for our heroes to see their friends die left and right.
Come to think of it, was Kotaro born in the real world or magic world?
Edit: Oh and yeah I called it!!! This gives a feasible scenario for Ala Rubra to save the magic world and get their own holiday named after them too lol
-
So if I wanted to skip all the Shoujo parts and just read the main story and the fights and stuff.
Where do I began.
-
Probably chapter 16.
-
Of course you'd be skipping a bunch of the integral character development. Part of the magic of the series was seeing these normal high-school girls who did all this random crap get thrown into a brand new world and how the "normal" routine school life was actually abnormal and that magic was the real "normal" at their school.

SPOILER ALERT
I just love how Akamatsu shifts entirely to another situation and it feels so natural.
Also love how Rakan wasn't taken out off-screen and he got a proper, reasonable send-off.
…
RakanT_T
-
About time Rakan dies. Surprised about Akamatsu making Yue a potential bisexual. Also surprised that this whole year and a half is probally going to be some kind of illusion world. I'm kind of glad this world is an illusion because even Harry Potter has better magical things than what this world has. Why the hell doesn't Ako/Makie have a pactio yet and why is Yuna still alive?
-

….um, what?
Anyways, the manga is getting interesting again and I can't wait until they finally return to their own world and start using some of the underused characters (a certain girl with a name starting with Z perhaps)
-
Chapter's out.

Wow, Akamatsu exceeded my expectations with Rakan's send off. Very touching. That lunkhead is awesome.
Also I love Nodoka>

I was referring to this page.
Zazie was originally supposed to have a mini circus arc, but there wasn't enough time for it. This is all Akamatsu was able to do.
-
I was referring to this page.
There's nothing sexual about that moment at all. Thats a "one of my friends is dying right in front of my eyes" moment, not a "oh no my potential love interest is dying moment!" She's putting her forehead to the other girl as she fades away, the last part of her there to touch, NOT trying to go in for a kiss.
Compared to Setsuna and Konoka who've had oodles of schoolgirl lesbian themes going on…
-
I'm sure Zazie will come back to the story in time and blow us away with her awesomeness. Along with the rest of the students with Ayaka finally becoming Negi's disciple. Hell, they'll prbably ALL become his disciples eventually. Because Akamatsu is a god who can make a register of 30 students from chapter one and give each of them good character development and a decent spot-light.
Oh that reminds me, this chapter Fake Asuna FINALLY got found out!!! YAY!!! Kinda a drag that it was revealed off-hand like that but it made sense given Rakan knew that Fate and his crew could only do what they did WITH Asuna. Also it was about time she was found out anyway.
-
@Thousand:
spoilerey stuff
Spoiler tags dammit!
…though I suppose the chapter has been out for 2 days, and you DID post that it was out earlier. But the way you were talking about Rakan I assumed it was still the previous chapter. Until you mentioned other stuff I didn't remember happening.
-
Oh erm sorry:ermm:
Don't wanna spoil you of all people but I assumed you're the type who'd read a series they really love like Negima the moment it comes out.
Erm sorry again:(

Normally I would. I just hadn't noticed it had come out.Like I said, the way you described it, I had assumed it was still the previous chapter.
! "with Rakan's send off. Very touching. That lunkhead is awesome." I had assumed he was dead and that was that. The mention of them knowing about fake Asuna made me go "Wait, how did I miss that?" Then I checked and saw that, "Oh, it is indeed a new chapter." No biggie though, nothing major spoiled, and it HAD been out for 2 days.
! Also, Negi's evil form just looks damn awesome every time. -
@robbybedfart:

Oh yeah, forgot I wanted to reply to this line.
Hey, don't knock their lesbianism. It's the reason why Negima is my second favorite manga >:/
Er…let me explain>.>
One of the reasons out of countless why I love Negima is that compared to other romance manga, Akamatsu gets straight to the point when it comes to relationships instead of dragging out bullshit. This is especially awesome as it shows how much of a great writer he is at characterization when he doesn't pussy-foot around anything as a cheap way to tease his fans and keep his readers but reveals things at a decent time and really builds up his characters well while doing so especially because of their appropriate timing. Examples include Nodoka confessing to Negi on their first date, Nodoka and Yue admitting their feelings for Negi pretty soon after Yue realized her feelings for him, Asuna confessing to Takamichi at the festival, stuff a lesser author would leave for later because they're so big but that Akamatsu does at decently paced intervals when it's time for a character to get his/her spotlight and really mature and do wonders for the story.
Erm bit of a long introduction to my point but here it is. When I started reading the chapter of Konoka and Setsuna hanging out at the Nagi festival and how it was clear that it was going to be about just their relationship, I thought back to how their pactio plot was introduced way back when they almost kissed each other till Asuna stepped in and how it's been touched slightly at opportune moments since then (like Konoka and Setsuna asking about alternate ways on how to do a pactio as Setsuna didn't think girls should kiss or when Setsuna did her church confession to Misora about it) and I figured how it would be awesome if Akamatsu had them kiss at the end of the chapter instead of dragging it out till near the end of the series or whatever. I didn't think he'd do it because I figured he'd want to tease it out further despite given his track record as it was the first time he started dealing with their relationship in such detail with just the two of them chilling since the Kyoto arc. Still I promised to myself that if Akamatsu did the unexpected (which would be more awesome than the expected in this case) and had them kiss, I'd bump up Negima to my second favorite manga next to One Piece.
They did kiss. For two pages. With tongue...
After my expectations were exceeded twice over like that, I had to make it my second favorite.
Wow, that was a longer story than how it was in my head. Been wanting to say it for quite a while now though:O
Oh and let me just say, if you take their lesbianism from an actual serious perspective, not just the typical "it's a fanservice gag" attitude, it's actually really sweet and romantic and a relationship you actually wouldn't mind happening as much as Negi and Nodoka/Asuna/whoever you ship or Kotaro and Natsumi. At least for me, that's how it is:<

Yeah I'll have to agree.
But if it comes down to Asuna + Negi incest I would NOT agree.

What if they're not blood-related?:<>

Ever heard of a guy named Woody Allen?
-
-
@Thousand:
Erm no
First you've never heard of George Carlin, and now Woody Allen?
I… don't even know where to start. He's won a lot of film awards and been doing stuff for decades. His movie, Annie Hall, beat out Star Wars for the academy award back in the day.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/3c/Woody_Allen_(2006).jpeg/180px-Woody_Allen_(2006).jpegBut its pertinent here in that he's had a lot of wives, and a lot of them have been a lot younger than him, and his current wife, Soon-Yi, is basically his step-daughter.

I ain't knocking it. I'm just saying, there's some obvious and genuine emotional bonding and lesbian-ism going on with that couple. Not so much with Yue. (And "schoolgirl lesbians" is a tvtropes term.

I did not know that. Explains a few things. Well, fair enough, I probably wouldn't be able to identify a large number of european celebrities.
-
So seeing as how we are probably going to find out who the mage of the beginning is soon, does anyone have any guesses?
Twould be interesting if it were Nagi.
-
I'd normally bet something of rare and incredible value that it's Negi.
Normally.
I feel I've gotten smarter since my younger days so I am 500% sure it's going to be a woman of sorts.
-
Was going to respond to gokudera but robby has already done that for me (and much better than I would have)
To sum, being in a cold sweat over a dying friend is hardly a basis to prove latent romantic same-sex feelings -
