Anyone played the new one on the DS? Four Heroes or something? Was supposed to be a return to the roots of the series.
Turns out that it's apparently crap.
Also noticed XIV in the stores last week. Didn't even think it was out lol

Actually, I've heard its pretty good, I've been eager to play it as well.
The only places that have given it less than spectacular reviews have been GamePro and GameInformer (but their review sections in general tend to be crap).
I saw a few reviews in Magazines. Most tends to be complaining about the inventory system.
I think the problems stem from people comparing it to DQ9. A series that has stayed pretty damn good. But FF seems to have gone astray when they've strayed from the classic formula
Off-topic since it's FF14 online related, but looks like FF just got its lowest-scoring game ever.. (Gamespot, anyway) I heard SE said to hold back the reviews for a month..

4/10?
FFIV?
…..Oh dear....
FF14.
And it's for PC.
No surprise there.
The Japanese public are as good with personal computers as white people are at dancing.

Time to add Gametrailers to the mix, as their take on the MMO earned it a
4.2.
They're really screwing the pooch on their # titles lately.
Maybe S-E really does need to end the series, when a franchise hits the double digits it gets to the point that nothing you will do will please. But chances are if S-E was posed the option of keeping Final Fantasy, but losing every other one of their properties, or keeping all of them and JUST losing FF… they'd choose to keep FF alone.
So chances are, just as that old flash music video says, we'll be playing this series till the end of time.
Unless we just stop buying the games then the Final fantasy would finally come. But then they would just stop making new ones and remake the old ones then take another lap through the money pool.

Remakes of 5 and 6 for the DS (or 3DS now.)
HOW can that be a bad thing?
Remaking the old good Final Fantasies are a good thing but when the new bad games stop making money what do you think will happen. We wouldn't be talking about remakes, we would be talking about remakes of remakes for every possible system of every final fantasy game that would make money.
Geez, they charge monthly fees too? Just another reason why I'll probably never play an MMORPG.
And if I heard correctly, you have to pay extra to have multiple characters, just like FFXI.
Either way, I'm either going to see what they do by the time the first exansion comes out or I'll see how Sega shows off Phantasy Star Online 2. I'm honestly more hyped for PSO2 than I am now for FFXIV after seeing how…incomplete it looks, even for an MMO.

I played FFXI for 6 years, looking back on it was truly a waste of my life. My friend had beta tested FFXIV and got it once it came out, I was hoping for changes and new potential this game had. Maybe as they do updates they will change what is wrong with the game but like Tsukento said right now I'm more interested in seeing how PSO2 turns out.
