Firion is. At least I finally got Malboro…
Firon sucks until you get more HP attacks, then he can actually be pretty awesome, and he's got a bitchin' counter in "Shield Bash".

Okay, Story mode is starting to get fucking stupid. There's a level 47 Sephiroth Manikin I have to beat to progress, when my best Cosmos characters are all in the high 20's! This was dull enough before, now it's getting stupid-hard!
wait till you get to shade impluse.
I've been fighting this wicked lvl 57 Kefka all fucking day.
That's what I've been talking about. Shade Impluse 2-4. Fucking crystal Sephiroth…
oh right right. i'm on 3-2. Crystal kefka is a bastard from hades!
but unlocking duel colosseum is ESSENTIAL!!
I really want to start leveling seph!
I swear, I never had any real trouble with Shade Impulse (Though I did whip Chaos' ass with a level 73 Onion Knight, but at that level, it was almost a joke).
Anyways, lets see if I can help you guys…
Whats your best Cosmos character, what kind of equipment are you packing, have you bought any of the EXP bonus day boosts from the catalogue, and what kind of play plan are you on (even if you don't have "Grind-Lover", setting the plan to "average" might help if you're in the 20's)?
This is pretty funny XD

Just got the game and enjoying it so far, but I have an X-Death question:'
1. How does his shielding work? Just use it when an attack connects?
2. His Ex-Mode works fine, but every time I release the button when it reaches zero, the number goes back up to 30 and he does Grand Cross. Is there something I'm missing here?
Well, I think I found a warrior of Cosmos I'm somewhat decent with: Cecil. Which is kind of ironic, considering before I got Dissidia, I was playing FF4 DS. Not as good as I am with the villains, but better than with the rest of the cast of heroes…
Also, I've noticed something that seems to contribute to the whole view I keep seeing of the villains being just plan stronger than the heroes in this game: the heroes seem to have fighting styles, while the villains have more concrete strengths and weaknesses. If the cast was nothing but the heroes, the balance would be near perfect (but hella boring). The villains, on the other hand, have greater strengths, but greater weaknesses, and steeper learning curves (i.e. Sephiroth is peerless in melee combat, and has huge melee range, but very little options in ranged combat. In contrast, even Squall and Cloud have some ways to fight at a distance).
Finally, I learned two nasty things Exdeath can do: first and foremost, in EX Mode, he can perform his counter attacks twice! Which means after countering an attack, I can follow up with, say, two back-to-back hurricanes. COnsidering EX Mode causes you to get Criticals more often, and one Hurricane counter does sick damage, well… Jesus Christ! The easiest one to land two back-to-back attacks with, though, is the Sword Dance counter (which hits for four powerful sword strikes instead of two!).
Second thing is that, apparently, he can also counter you running into him. So, if I'm riding on one of the stage rails toward someone, and activate High Block just as they're about to crash into me, that's a free counter right there!

1. Use it to block an attack, basically. Mid, and High Block can only stop Brave Attacks, but can stop ANY Brave attack (don't even bother with Low Block. It's crap. It's only there to make him harder to use). Omni Block stops any attack period, but requires ridiculous timing. After you see the barrier successfully block the attack, press toward/up+circle, down/away+circle, circle by itself, or square, to do a counter attack. There are several of them, and they're all bitch-strong (his square counter is an unavoidable, undodgable Almagest. Free HP damage. Only fails if they're too far away).
2. You're either releasing circle too late, or too soon. Release it as soon as it hits 0. Don't wait, and don't try to release it right when it hits 0.

Ah, thanks a bunch.
I BEAT STORY MODE! WHOOOOO!
Levelling Exdeath now, and I'm getting better and better with those counters! In fact, I plan on posting a video soon! Also, I have learned just how true it is that Exdeath gimps Shantotto! Good god, his High Block counters her HP attacks! High Guard isn't even supposed to be used on HP attacks! It's rare enough that move stops an HP attack, but it stops virtually ALL of her's! If you main Shantotto, you have automatically lost if you fight a skilled Exdeath player. Warning you now.
Duel Colosseum is fun as shit, too. And the fact that the unlockable Story Mode chapters can be played with the villains is SO nice!
I BEAT STORY MODE! WHOOOOO!
Now just wait until you start up ULTIMATE FANTASY.
You ever tried fighting a level 110 Chaos?
(Though I gotta say, seeing Chaos's EX Mode/Burst was pretty cool).
FINALLY!!!!
i finally fucking beat that unholy piece of shit Chaos!!
I started fighting him with a level 50 Cloud. And now after so many re-trys i'm level 60!
I just hate him so fucking much! He's so easy to block and his HP attacks are easy to dodge. But what makes him such a fucking little bitch is that when you finally get a good idea of his pattern, he just overcomes you with sheer brute force (constantly forcing break on you the MOMENT you get done attack or let you guard down) and if that doesn't work for him, he just spams his hardest to dodge HP attacks.
My strategy was to tough it out for the first round and beat him normally. Second round, I either get lucky or I use Mimic when he bravery rapes me. Third round (if I get there) is just an ex burst and i'm done.
Sounded easy, but it was such a royal pain.
but now i'm done and can start leveling up my Villains in Duel Coliseum. Seph is going first!
I beat him with a level 52 Cloud, which became ALOT easier once I found out that you could spam cloud's aerial neutral O, which has priority over Chaos' Brave attacks, and he'd keep falling for it.
O-O-O-O-O-O-Meteorain-O-O-O-O-O-O-Meteorain-O-O-O-O-etc.
interesting. I guess i was swayed from being that offensive. I was in the idea that it would be better to try and avoid or counter block his BRV attacks.
i'll have to try that
Check 'dis shit out!
-B6S9elSUlY
I only wish she did more HP attacks, so I could show you just how bad this matchup is…! Just take it from me: Tornado is a joke to Exdeath.
I've been doing a little bit of villian grinding myself, and boy did I have a good day….
rk0RK9Pgnm8
I finally beat INWARD CHAOS
I am the best.
I've been doing a little bit of villian grinding myself, and boy did I have a good day….

Haha! You do the same thing I do, using Bombard while they're caught in the thunder trap, then chasing.
Yeah, that Thunder Trap is the best, and although it takes so Goddamn long to cast and you have to have the right setup, Starfall is a pretty cool move to!
Speaking of progress reports…My Emperor is now at level 72 with Firion not too far behind at 68. I'm thinking about developing Gabranth once the FFII characters are all maxed out.
Starfall turns Mateus from a novelty to a serious fuckin' threat. Without it, you can run from his shit while he desperately tries to get you to play his game. Like a bored, lonely little brother. Once he gets Starfall, you can't ignore him. You either run into his horde of traps, or eat a giant meteor to your face. Great shit…!
YUSH! Got Exdeath to level 100, and unlocked Gabranth all on the same day! Hells yeah!
Also, folks? Never, ever, EVER fight Ultimecia as Jecht… That has to be the worst thing ever... Oh my god, don't do it. Don't fucking do it. If you do somehow manage to win, it will take you a good 20 minutes. Avoid this scenario. No fighting Ultimecia as Jecht. Pick someone else. If you see her card in Duel Colosseum, pick someone else! Run from this bitch as Jecht!
I've got my Seph to about lvl 70 in about 3 hours!!
Beating shade impulse is the best thing to happen for me in Dissidia! Here's why:
Duel Colosseum + Special Day + Black Chocobo Course= Best fucking way to level your character!
Yeah yeah, I know about the lvl 100 Exdeath trick. And while that will bring you to lvl 100 faster, you'll be stuck later on having to grind out your AP to make up for how little you gained.
Duel Colosseum solves this problem and then some! With the conditions stated above, plus the bonus AP chances in each match gives you about 6 AP per fight. Fuck grinding Chaos. DC also lets you acquire rare items too! so it's WIN WIN!

I feel the same applies to Seph as well once you acquire Black Materia. The Meteor caused by the move may not be as big as Starfall, but it's faster and can be charged into quite the sizable fucking rock. And just like Mateus, it FORCES you to approach Seph (who is literally unparalleled in Melee combat). Don't wanna get near my seven ft katana? fine, i'll just drop a meteor on your head!
Black materia's problem, though, is that it's dodgable. Starfall holds you in place with the first small rain of rocks. Black materia drops Meteor by itself, so the attack can be dodged. WHich is good, because otherwise Sephiroth would be broken as hell. Consistently forcing people into melee combat with him, where he has the advantage against everyone (except maybe Exdeath, who can counter his shit), would be hella-broken. Still, it is a great mindgame, and his best ranged option.
EDIT: Oh god, I think Crocodile and Golbez have been hanging out…
"Weakness is the greatest sin."
Really, Golbez?!
very much so. But what balances it out with Starfall is that Sephiroth can interrupt the charge incase his opponent decides it's time to close the distance and drop a smaller meteor right in their face as they are dashing forward. If they are even touched by the blast it causes they take full impact.
But yeah, Black Materia can be dodged, but once it's at full size, if you're in it's radius, dodge won't cut it. You literally have to get out of it's massive blast range. If it's already falling, it's usually too late.
Starfall also has the advantage of allowing you to be mobile while your still in casting, which I like very much.
Golbez is a motherfucker! Oh my god! This guy's second to Exdeath for me, now! Jesus Christ, once you learn some moves for this guy, he becomes a beast! I firmly believe this bastard has some of the most effective and dangerous HP attacks in the entire game, as well as the ability to dominate the battlefield. He gains the ability to chain into Cosmic Ray from just about every 2-part attack he has that starts with a physical blow. This guy is fucking amazing.
Also, badass as hell. Foregoing what we already know about him from FF4, he's probably one of the few interesting characters in story mode. Most especially, when he talks to Chaos before fighting him, what's his line?
"I have no interest in neither harmony, nor discord."
Badass! In fact, him and Cecil remind me of that movie Twins, with Arnold Schwartzenegger and Danny DeVito. It's like Golbez got all the uber-manly badass genes, while Cecil got stuck with the whiny effeminate DNA.
The fact that he's this badass, even though his real name is Theodore, is quite an acomplishment, lemme tell ya!
EDIT: Exdeath can gimp Chaos…! That's obscene!
Had a bunch of awesome fights with Shmeckie tonight!
Replays will be coming soon.
They will be plentiful and they will be awesome.
You guys did that Ad Hoc thing?
Allow me to be the first to contribute.
9K7GHksDr_Q
I was a little liberal with Grand Cross, since Tonfa had been falling for it so often before this match. He figured it out, though, so this was the last match I was so casual with that move.
You guys did that Ad Hoc thing?
No, we know each other. Real world buddies.
I didn't expect myself to watch the whole seven minutes, but I did.
You didn't really use Grand Cross a lot.
Maybe just at this one interval, but that's it.
My rooting went back and forth. Looks like you guys had fun ^_^
Well, you're really not supposed to use Grand Cross at all unless they're in the affected area, and are in the middle of something (like when I caught Tonfa with it when he whiffed Weaponsmaster). It's basically like another form of his counters.
Here's a video of my Emperor.
qREYR1XE1X4
I picked Tidus because I thought he was the worst match up for him.
I didn't get to hide in the flare ball and cast starfall as I always do…
Tidus:
9/9 Strength
Vicious Behavior
Level 105
Well, I just beat Inward Chaos. With full fucking health. Good LORD Exdeath is ridiculous! Beat Chaos on my second try. Would've been my first, but I fucked up in round 3 when he was almost dead. So I said "bitch, fuck this, I'm packin' the Void, motherfucker!" And then I proceeded to rape Chaos' face.
Seriously, Chaos is embarassingly easy with Exdeath.
I just spam with cloud (add a ton of bravery items and overuse Omnislash Version 5)
Most underrated player is Zidane. A real player can be Zidane and never get touched.
Allow me to be the first to contribute.

At the 3:00 mark, this is one of the great things about Dissidia.
However much of an advantage your opponent has, a fight can easily turn around in just like that…..and easily back again -_- ;
And yeah, in some of the earlier fights I had been falling to Exdeath's HP attacks alot let alone GRAND CROSS, so by the time this fight came up I had gotten the hang of finding the right time to dodging Exdeath's HP attacks.
I've also started to really like Firion to, he can barely do anything in the air (if you noticed, some parts of the fight I was experimenting with how far WEAPONMASTER can actually go) but if you stay on the ground, he's got some HUGE advantages.
Its his "Double Trouble" branch combos and "Shield Bash" that really make him useable. And I think I'm getting a little better at using STRAIGHT ARROW, out of all the damn moves in the game. (Although theres a particularly hilarious fight with Golbez to show that )
I'm gonna wait until you post that Golbez-Firion fight before I upload a replay of it. Show it from your perspective, then mine (since we both saved that replay). That batch of hilarity must be seen from both sides…!
As of now, I'm in the process of converting all of my replay files, I just wish there was a thumbnail of some kind so I would know which replay I'm converting without having to switch back and forth in the museum viewer :/
I got it yesterday, and it's pretty damn good.
I've so far completed Cloud's story, and I'm working on Cecil.
Is it me, or does Cecil completely suck? Maybe it's just how he starts out.
Is it me, or does Cecil completely suck? Maybe it's just how he starts out.
Alot of really don't have a whole lot of options when they start out (take Firion for example) but Cecil can be pretty good. You really have to get used to switching between the Dark Knight and Paladin for the appropriate situation.
By the way remember that Golbez vs. Firion fight me and Shmeckie were talking about?
RQPIt1ZKipI
The hilarity really starts up at around 1:40 or so, but you would've had to have been there to understand appreciate just what went down then
In addition to that…
5R8lMvNV3bo
Another in the series of our fights, using "up-and-coming" characters. And I must say, that I am really starting to dig Gabranth.
And here's that Golbez fight from my POV.
ibr8ZFZRDYY
God damn sniper Firion…!
I got around Shmeckie's Exdeath
Too bad I didn't save the replay, but there will be a few more to come soon.
I finally got around to Inward Chaos after putting the game down for a while. Has anyone else gotten an urge to punch their PSP into bits in a furious rage because of this mode?
Emperor Mateus is a prick, especially with the crappy, cramped Pandaemonium making his rebounding projectiles more annoying. How do I get to where these opponents do not break my Brave in one attack? And I haven't found any of the parts to build any of the higher ranked weapons? Any tips?
Unfortunately I figured you out, Tonfa, and I know how to get around your get around! You've got a week to train, boah! I expect many accessory setups from you in the future.
Also, this is ridiculous: Exdeath gimps Shantotto so badly someone was able to beat CPU Shantotto while blindfolded! And they saved the replay of it!

Not us Exdeath mainers! :D
If you're like Tonfa and me, you've got Artifacts with combination abilities, and you don't know what the fuck they do. Well, I found someone that does! So, for your convenience, here it is:
Skanda's Protection - Improved Speed, Jump Range, Number of consecutive Jumps, and Air Dodge
Overwork - Physical Attack +5% per part up until 2 parts. If 3 parts equipped, you get physical attack -15%.
Overheat - Magic Attack +5% per part up until 2 parts. If 3 parts equipped, you get magic attack -15%.
Walls of Jericho - Physical defense up (probably +5% per part) Opposite effect when 3 equipped (probably -15%)
Destruction's Seal - Same as walls of jericho except for magic defense
Enfeebler - Damage reduction up until 2 parts. Opposite effect when 3 parts equipped. (no idea what the percentages are)
Ex Bane - No idea what this does…
Also, I have finally successfully created the deadliest fuckin' Kefka there ever was. If there are any Kefka mainers 'round here, lemme know, and I'll spread that wisdom.
I need some help with Fighting Chaos
I was able to beat him with Zidane Level 45 and Magic Pot but i found out that he can come back to life(Like Gill from SF3) and i have to fight him again with Low heath,Should i use a different that is a Higher Level(I have Onion Knight at Level 47) or Level up Zidane more?
I would say level up, because you have to fight chaos three times in a row. Unless you are really go with Zidane and are lucky if you hit him with you ex mode.
One of my favorite techniques using the Onion Knight against Chaos is when he's about to pull "Divine Punishment."
All you have to do is jump and use "Wind Shear", it'll block all of his swords and he'll dive right into the last hit, which strikes HP.
I'm acutally working on Zidane right now…
Shmeckie, I don't think you're "Ghost" knows how to use Exdeath, I managed to jump 10 friggin' levels after a single battle.
Yeah, although he is my main, I think I should set my ghost to be Golbez or Sephiroth…
I need some advice on how to get these "artifacts" you speak of.
I know it has to do with playing other people. But the only person I know with the game pretty much stopped playing it a week after he got it.
