Because Tate does it better. Jealously I tell you.
412: ''The Heartless Judgement - Marguerite is Turned to Stone''

Wow, the animation was beautiful that episode. And the art was even better than Tate's normal work.
Who was the team this week?

Looks pretty awesome. Hope we can get some subs for that soon~

Pretty solid episode. There was a little crappy animation once in a while but the punch of Bacura made up for it big time!
I liked the little converstation Hancock and Marguerite had before the ladder was turned to stone.
It shows what a twisted meanie Hancock is and made me feel really sorry for Marge.
My urge to bitchslap Boa Hancock was even stronger when watching the episode instead of reading the according chapter. And whoever made the episode deserves a cookie for some cute foreshadowing
[hide]Seal-cameo! I love that little fella![/hide]

Geez, that little filler conversation was rather nasty. Makes it all the more annoying that in a few more episodes, we're expected to feel bad for Hancock and excuse her misdeeds.

Maybe Toei will make some filler flash-backs that will really make us sorry for her?

I'm not really big on Freudian Excuses being used to justify acts of jackassery, so while I will applaud Toei for smart filler if that is the case, it won't really change how I feel about the character. Deliberately giving false hope is a pretty assholish thing to do.

I think it's justifiable if you were branded, tortured and possibly raped for many years by the cruelest people in the world.

Thousand Lion-Chan.
I come in the name of my god, the Logic god.
First, I would like to say I'm sorry for saying that Momonga could defeat Hancock, I was stupid, but Logic showed me the way. However, I would like you to stop being so defensive against Hancock.

Lol, this just made me laugh.

Sometimes a bitch is a bitch is a bitch, that's all there is to it.
-
lol it's pointless just stop now.

I agree with the the guy from cookie land. Every week, the hatebase here wants to show off how vocal they are over 1 blemish of the Hancock fandom(not a bad thing. Sunny is like a character now)

@Thousand:
Lol, this just made me laugh.
Don't laugh, please.
I converted to Logic, and I'm willing to show everyone the Logic way.
Any Shichibukai > Luffy. -

Yeah I thought the same thing about that filler, that really makes it hard to pity her character whereas in the manga her jackassery was more lighthearted, in the manga she didn't front as if she wasn't going to punish the girls. However the flirty hair jostling followed by the girls blushing explains how Hancock could petrify them, which was smart filler because the manga didn't show them becoming enchanted with Hancock before she petrified them. .

Lion, the scene between the manga and the anime is IDENTICAL. The shading done in the manga is cause it's traditional. If Oda used heavy screentones or computer shading, it'd be the same as the anime version except in black and white.
I just combined the image that was posted earlier and set it to multiply.
They couldn't have gotten closer unless they traced the scene. -

Maybe not Hancock, but the rest of 'em, yeah… Okay, maybe not Blackbeard either. I dunno... He's wierd like that...

Moria is debatable his hax shadow powers make it a tough one but Jadosra even argued Croc not using his sand powers in his last fight vs Luffy, even though he clearly got his ass rocked and Luffy punched right through his sables attack. [hide] And we don't know how strong Hancock is when using haoshoku haki especially considering her weaker sisters pushed Luffy to gear 2nd with only their basic haki and you can bet she's much stronger than them. NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! What is this Shichibukai Strength Thread stuff doing here?! We must cut it out before this virulent tumor claims another thread as its victim!
Um, um, quick, what was I talking about before…. uh... Right! Freudian Excuses may explain why a person acts the way they do, but in my eyes, they in no way justify those actions.

Black beard beat ace and many believe that he's going to be the last villain so i doubt it but i think luffy is now capable of beating the shit out of croc i mean people tend to forget he's on a whole new level plus croc couldn't last against gear 2nd luffy granted he has blood/water
and for the whole hancock will always be an ass thing i tend to believe that if you were tortured raped abused and used as entertainment you should be given a mistake here and there especially since
! She changes them back to normal anyways

As I said, explain, not justify. If my dog was hit by a car and killed when I was 8, it may make me a bitter and angry person, but that doesn't justify me being a jerk to people eleven years later who have nothing to do with it.
I mean, if there was some more development on Hancock's part beforehand, the sudden sympathy grab would've been more effective. Instead, she pretty much remains the same, and there's no indication that when this is all over that she isn't going to go right back to her dog-kicking ways. I mean, she was willing to kill a helpless person just for the hell of it, and ended up getting away pretty much scot-free, something that any other villain in this story would've gotten a well-justified smackdown for.
Again, if more time had been spent on this development, it wouldn't be as tough for some people to swallow, but there wasn't, and the anime hasn't been doing her any extra favors.
…arguing this isn't doing me any extra favors either, is it.

i understand what your saying and i think the anime will go deeper into her past to try to draw out some of that sympathy many lack for her and who knows maybe it will work or than again maybe your opinion will stay the same only time will tell

Oh dear, oh dear, it seems that we have one user without Logic here.
Don't you worry, though, may Logic be with you after reading this post:The following bases itself on the condition that Crocodile and Moria took Luffy as seriously as Whitebeard:
-Crocodile after the first would have killed Luffy with the hook instead of letting him here.
-Moria would have closed him in a shadow box and throw the shadow box to the sea instead of sleeping while the Shadow does the rest.May logic be with you from now on

but they didn't, so what's the point.

oi, oi,,,I think some members got infected by shichi strength virus and brought it all over forum threads….quick get tamiflu....
-
What were you focusing on? :o
of course characters face and their act while they're talking…on fansubs I read the text first then watch them, so I lost some moments..

She beat him in two seconds with just a pistol shot already so your point is moot.

You're missing the point of what Oda was telling us in those fights Jadosra, through getting extra chances Luffy got stronger and surpassed Croc and Moria by the end (though I hold off on making a call on Moria due to his hax df). Take Croc for example, he beat Luffy the 1st badly the second time he was getting merced till he dried the ground and got Luffy with his right hand, and in this 2nd fight he told Luffy that through training your df powers in new ways you can gain extra strength. What does Luffy do in the third fight? Beats the hell outta Croc and took what he told him and 1st made the shotgun attack then he came up with storm. Hell back in Alabasta didn't even have gomu gomu no rifle. Either way it goes Luffy surpassed Croc in the end what does it matter if he started out weaker in the end he punched right through sables and curbstomped Croc. The Moria fight sorta just showed how Luffy's philosophy of valuing his crew is better than Moria's philosophy of using them as a platform to PK, all of the Odz fight was a crew fight more than Luffy just kicking ass. And in the end Luffy became stronger again and did something he never had done before when he combined gears.
-
I agree with you 90%
Its all due to the situation.
However, if it was 1 on 1, mano a mano, no help from anyone, no luck, Luffy would die.
Crocodile needs a single attack to kill Luffy.
Moria can bust Luffy easily.
True, due to the situation, Luffy won, but if the situation was: "Crocodile doesn't underestimate Luffy, thinking he's strong" or "Moria doesn't underestimate Luffy, thining he's strong", if it was the case, Luffy would be dead by now.
But of course, Oda won't do such a thing, because otherwise this amazing series would end.It doesn't change the fact that Any Shichibukai can defeat Luffy if Luffy doesn't have the situation on his favor.
May Logic be with you from now on

Ugh. More Shichibukai Strength debate. :getlost:

There is an unbelievable amount of derp in these last two pages.

Ugh. More Shichibukai Strength debate. :getlost:
I'm a pure Messiah, passing logic around the Luffy fanboys.
Soon, the truth will surface  -
The truth that you should keep that rubbish to the Shichibukai strength thread is already fairly apparent.
-
Why are we talking about Boa Hancock here, then?
Shouldn't we make a thread for her and go speak there?Logic does not look at threads, Logic does look for ignorant guys and blesses them with its power.
-
Is Boa Hancock in the current episode?
Yes.
Is Croc, or Moria, or any of the others? No.
Logic is not a tool you have at your command.

That was an epic comeback, but yea kinda my fault with the shichi thread infecting this one, I just wanted to point out to Schmeckie that we can't assume Hancock is weaker than Luffy or even know her strength at all till we see her use her [hide] haoshoku haki in a fight [/hide]
-
Schmeckie? I think you meant Jadosra.
-
Oh yeah, I've finally seen this episode in full, so time to weigh in…
Pretty good. The comic timing for Hancock's powers failing and the subsequent reactions were pretty spot-on. I'm glad to see Pistol Kiss animated, since I had some trouble figuring out what she was doing in the manga. Good animation on that part, and all other parts.
Filler was good filler that made sense; I loved the bit with Nyon pwning Luffy. But the arena filler was pretty nasty; effectively so, and really made me feel bad for Marguerite and Luffy subsequent put-down of Hancock feel incredibly satisfying. And people want this character on the Straw Hats why...?
Life imitates art, I suppose.
-
Hancock wasn't as mean as you guys are making her out to be.
Sure, she was a bitch, but changing from: "Surprising stone moment" to "Trick you, and then surpsing stone moment" won't change much. -
A little bitchery can go a long way, you know.
-
It's not so much the act itself but the intent and motives behind it. What she did in the anime was much more meanspirited than in the manga.
-
Remember it's non-cannon. I'm interested to see how they'll pour on the sap for her little flashback in order to balance out the added bitchiness. Also I'm curious to see skinny Marigold animated, seriously wth happened to her over the years?
