I would have agreed with you before Oda decided to introduce Haki. :/
Ah that, well even Haki is sorta reasonably explained. Kinda sweatdrops

Not really. Not anymore than Chakra or Ki or the like…

Well at least it's being handled properly unlike chakra and doesn't seem to be related to power as in if you use it, you get weaker.
About powerup features, devil fruits also ARE some kind of magic crap…but I agree that One Piece storytelling is something else though it still contains some generic shounen elements.
Is this a godamn joke? One piece is a perfect example of a generic shonen plot.
I think you mean PREMISE, guy.
The plot is hardly generic.
That's because One Piece is a happy-go-lucky series. Bleach isn't.
Child abandonment and self-cannibalism is SUPER-cheery and happy, right?
OP has it's dark and seriously tone moments, difference is, it doesnt lay theme on in a cheesy attempt to elicit sympathy from the reader, which is what makes a series ANGSTY. And yes, angst is bad. It's bad because it's bad writing.
What IS the difference between the premise and a plot anyway?
And what is One Piece's premise?
i personally think one piece's art is unique and AWESOME. all the other doosh bags just think its 'bad' since its diffrent. well let me tell you something about naruto, if you havnt noticed yet, theri hella short! ok so what if that argument sucked, i still like one piece, truth to be told, if one piece was drawn like 'normal' mangas, i probably wont like it as much, even if the art was 'horrible' (which it isnt) the great plot makes up for everything, their characters are actually unique! unlike gay ass naruto…(i really hate naruto right now) in one piece, you can use one word todescribe a character, where in anruto its like.. ramen for naruto, revenge for sasuke and... nothing else - -

I made an account just to answer this question…
premise: fundamental concept that drives the plot
plot: the story that is told in a novel or play or movie
One Piece's premise: A group of kids search for the long lost ultimate treasure
