RE: One Question
I plan on getting all three consoles eventually. The first one to acquire will be the Xbox 360, hopefully around the time when Dead Rising comes out because that looks fantastic, along with getting Oblivion, Condemned, Full Auto, Call of Duty 2 before checking out what the companies are releasing onto the Xbox that weren't hyped up on E3.
Then comes the Wii, but I really hope there are more games that grab my attention other than Super Smash Brothers, Twilight Princess and Trauma Center. But then again, alot of stuff get unnoticed over the big games. Who is to say?
Lastly is the PS3. The same thing with the Wii applies here. So far, all I saw or heard that was interesting was MGS4, Assassin's Creed, and Silent Hill 5.
All I hear nowadays is how the Wii is going to be the greatest thing ever and Sony are a bunch of devils with the occasional jab at Microsoft for just breathing. Whatever happened to the philisophy of "I go where the games are"?

RE: Lame excuses not to like OP anime.
I quote from Cap'n Carter in the GSRP during an event:
"WHO THE HELL CARES?"
So someone doesn't want to watch One Piece. Their loss.

RE: Western Comics thread
I just picked up a couple more comics, Wolverine #42, Wolverine Origins #1, Fantastic 4 #537, and Cable and Deadpool #28.
The latest Wolverine comics have the attitude down right, but the art is kind of "Eh", espically the regular Wolverine series.
As for C&DP, it is just great how Deadpool gets most of the attention, though even seeing Cable for just one panel is bad. (Not a fan of the Summers family line, as you can tell)
And then there's Fantastic 4, I am not a fan of that team, aside from the Thing, but I had to get this issue since DOOM is in it and how he tells the tale of how he escapes from hell. Just fantastic.

RE: The Da Vinci Code
Cause you know, it disproves god. Atleast I think so…don't know shit about it.
It doesn't.
I read the book when it came out on hardcover and that was what, two years ago? Anyway, I have no plans to pay 8 bucks for something that I can read for free.
The book is an okay fictional work but should never be used in a religious debate seeing how the only time Dan Brown ever came close to citing sources in the book was a page that basically said "Everything I wrote in this book is fact."

RE: Chopzilla vs. Incredible Hulk
No.
Just…Just no.
Good god. Sometimes, you people need to keep some of these ideas to yourself. "Enel and Robin have the same noses so they are obviously related", "Tashigi is really Kunia because they look alike", "Monster Chopper might stop the Hulk for some reason that I can't explain".
Write all of these overanalizations or boredom thoughts in a journal sometime.

RE: Phoenix Wright 2: Justice For All
Phoenix Wright Ace Attourny 1 has been stocked in Gamestops and EB Games around here for quite sometime. Most of them used, though. But yes, it is now a little bit easier for everyone who missed the first game to buy it now.
I wish I had some more news from E3 to accompany this post, but alas, nothing.
Of course, the good news is that now there is a big chance that the third game will be released some time after the second one. Which uses the same lifebar and Psycho Lock idea from the second game and 5 cases on it's own.
-
RE: Phoenix Wright 2: Justice For All
And you told me there was no chance of the other Phoenix Wright games coming to the states.
What can I say? I predicted the wrong event happening.
A gameplay clip just showed up using parts of the first case. With this, it has been announced that that Mako Suzuki, the defendant in the first case will be called Maggey Bryde.
This may not seem like much but…
! Part of the first case depends on noticing that her name was spelt wrong in the sand.
The last name for Takamasa Moroheiya, a witness in the first case has also been translated to Wellington.
Not much info right now, but it's a start.

Phoenix Wright 2: Justice For All
Phoenix Wright fans rejoice, for Capcom has announced that they WILL be releasing a remake of the second Gyakuten Saiban game for the GBA, also called Phoenix Wright Ace Attourny 2: Justice For All. There will be only the 4 cases from the GBA game, unlike in Phoenix Wright 1, which had an DS-exclusive 5th case.
The release date is announced to be the first quarter of 2007.
Some changes from the first game is now that you have a life bar as opposed to the exclamation points and the introduction of the Psycho Lock feature, which will be called "Psyche Lock". People hide some of their secrets under mental lock and key. You have to present evidence to break the locks and find out their secrets.
Also, Capcom announced the English names of Mei Karma, the main prosecutor in GS2 and daughter of Gou Karma/Manfred von Karma and Harumi Ayasato, cousin of Mayoi Ayasato/Maya Fey. They are Franziska von Karma and Pearl Fey, respectfully.
I figured I would mention this since it was one of the big things I was concerned about in E3.

RE: Long and fun!
Hm Makai Kingdom Looks interesting and fun but the style of the game makes me wonder. I notice Nippon Ichi is a company and they have released several games so I haven't really checked them yet.
The Nippon Ichi games, espically Disgaea and Makai Kingdom are really long, addictive, and turn-based, for your interests. Think of it being simular to Final Fantasy Tatics, but with a sense of humor. Unfortuantly, they are hard to find in stores. I lucked out in finding a used copy of Makai Kingdom for 30 bucks. eBay and recovering Nippon addicts are your best best for them.
Figured you might want to know that.

RE: Who is your AP crush/couple?
…20 pages. You people certainly have alot of free time on your hands.
Anway, to whoever said that ZioxEGX would be a good pairing, I wouldn't be interested in EGX, if I was gay. I hear that Omae is the jealous type when people even talk to his men.
I wouldn't mind a ZioxSeta Ginny pairing, if it actually had a chance in hell of happening.
And of course, who can forget ZioxWomen? It is, how you say, "OTP". As much as e1nxPandas, oceanizerxPenguins, and Eggyx...Whatever the hell he draws himself as all the time.
-
RE: Long and fun!
The first game that pops in my head is Makai Kingdom and the other Nippon Ichi games.
Another suggestion is to rent Indigo Prophecy and see if you want it. It's not scary as Resident Evil or Silent Hill, and it's not a shooter. Actually, you could try a demo of it at fileplanet.com first, since it is also on the PC.

RE: Death Note Manga Discussion
! damn thats the ending. Its ok i guess but what happened to light. Did he just die..but where did he end up. People who use the death note dont go to heaven or hell so where. Grr…
! Nowhere. There is no heaven or hell, Light found that out in chapter 107 in a flashback before he kicks the bucket. Everyone goes to the same place when they die, whether they have been good or bad: Nothingness.

RE: Western Comics thread
I picked up Civil War #1 today and I already am siding with Captain America's team.
While the true identities of superheroes may not be released to the public (which would be a bad idea seeing how people kicked the crap out of Johnny Storm, even though he had nothing to do with the Stamford Incident), but the records have to be stored somewhere, and no matter all of the security in the world, somehow, a villian will find a way to access some of those records and attack some loved ones. I am wary on that idea.
I additionally don't like the idea of all of the heroes becoming federal workers, meaning that alot of the heroes, like Daredevil, that stick up for the overlooked citizens will be caught up in too much beaucracy for them to do any real good. I can't stand that and it's sort of why I sided with Light in Death Note for he had a way to get around the illusion of justice that is wound up in so much red tape. (That and he later turned into a decent villian.)
But no matter what side we choose here, we can probably all agree that Commander Hill of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a bitch.
I can't wait for the second issue and I need to start getting all of the tie-ins to it.
-
RE: Death Note News
I wonder what kind of game Death Note would be?
I bet it's an adventure game simular to Monkey Island (in mechanics, not comedic script), Shadowgate, or Deja Vu.
I also hope to either play as Light or has an alternative ending to the series. Just for kicks.
I thought they weren't doing an animated series and instead opting for the live action movie (which looks friggin' sweet, regardless.)

RE: Unpleasant Important News
With midnight approaching and the first of April ending, this little waste of time shall end.
For those of you who have not figured it out, this "news" was really an April Fools joke. There has been no arresting of any staff or members, no shutting down of the forum, no anything. The "arrested" staff members are really in another accounts ("fuck you" being Wanderer Zero, so you can stop PMing me about that one), watching this unfold in a defiance of the "No more than one account rule" imposed (and supposed to be enforced.)
Now that your doubts have been removed, this topic will be closed to prevent any little comments about how this waste of time fooled you or how you knew it was a joke all along, because it's not important.
Thank you, and go get some sleep. Daylight savings time starts on Sunday and you are going to lose an hour of sleep now.

RE: Best drink mixes
Vodka + Orange Juice = Screwdriver
Champaigne + Orange Juice = Mimosa
I used to mix various drinks in the house to try to find the best tasting drink ever when I was a kid….It didn't go so well. (Why did I think Kool-aid and Milk would sound like a good idea. Ahh, the naiveity of youth.)

RE: Simply boring anime
Several anime series have bored me.
The top contenders would have to be:
Witch Hunter Robin
Wolf's Rain
Alot of shows from G$ that I can't remember
InuyashaI would have said all G4 anime was boring, but then I remembered that G4 airs Cromartie High School and that is awesome.

RE: Persona 3
I love the Persona games, I hope this one comes here.
And I am sure that almost everyone got that same vibe from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure when it is learned that in order to summon the personas, you need to point a gun at your character's head and pull the trigger.
(Star Platinum, much?)

RE: Famitsu's Top 100 Games of All Time
@omae:
BTW, video games mags used to talk about "How amazingly strict Famitsu's rating standard is". My ass. They give out 9's like the whore across the street gives out…nevermind. Regardless, if ANYTHING they're waaaaay more lenient than most legit gaming publications/insititutions here.
Yeah, I remember in an ad for Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon that Famitsu gave it a Gold rating and review magazines over here gave it 6s or 7s. Could be because that not alot of anime games score high over here, or the leniance over at Famitsu.
-
RE: Famitsu's Top 100 Games of All Time
I hate Top 100 lists, espically when they let fans or a magazine's readers decide instead of the staff who have more of a system for what gets what score.
And this has got to be one of the worst lists I have seen. FFX is #1 with FF7 right behind it and no mention of Phantasy Star IV, much less any Phantasy Star game?
It's a bullshit list.
Edit: WTF? FFX-2 is allowed to be on the list, much less top the original Resident Evil? Yeah. This list blows.

RE: Tom and Jerry - A Jewish Makeover?
What makes that guy look even more like an idiot is that a couple of sentences below he says and I quote "Tom and Jerry," the creation of Joe Barbera and Bill Hanna, was created in 1939, the year World War II began and while the Holocaust was in full force, for the MGM cartoon studios, not Disney."
WTF???
Actually, Ivotas, that's the writer of the article talking. Most articles tend to summarize the item someone is talking about in the second, third, or even the final paragraph, in this case, Tom and Jerry.
So in effect, while reporting some whackjob's opinion about a cartoon, the reporter verbally bitchslapped the whackjob without even really trying.

RE: Maes Hughes Vs. Tao pai pai
I like Hughes's character and his death was one of the few deaths that touched me…But seriously, Tao Pai Pai killed a man with his TONGUE, flies around on top of a pillar, was voiced by Micheal McConnohie in the Harmony Gold dub of Dragonball back in the 80s, and while he turned into a cybernetic wuss in DBZ, his badass spirit lives on within One Piece as Jybura of CP9.

RE: Kahn Interviews and Such
"And manga, in my mind, is trying to put a square…um...y'know, a square peg into a round hole in the United States. It will never be a big deal here."
Riiiiiight. His opinion has NOTHING to do with the fact that his company doesn't make any sort of manga. Nope, nothing at all.
And I love how he passively says kids are stupid when he made that comment about kids today don't read.
Oh man, put him with Jack Thompson in a studio with cameras and let them say what they want. You will get the funniest stuff in the history of man.

RE: The dark side of the internet.
You mean there's a light side of the internet? News to me.
My spam inboxes are filled with reinfinancing mortages, newsletters from game sites and some Democrat-affiliated party, and the standard "Make your woman happy! Increase your member by 6 inches!" shit.

RE: Bevin's Geek Doodles
Ah yes, I remember the OP fanfic comics from a long time ago, as well as some fanart of Nami with the quote "Maybe I don't like you either" on it. I loved that stuff.
And should it be considered odd if I can read all of that text in the sketch about the whore who stole your friend's artwork without squinting or using any sort of gizmos to magnify it?

RE: Mother 3 Screenshots!
Hardcore Mother fansite, Starman.net managed to translated the Mother 3 site into English.
http://starmen.net/mother3/mother3world/
And when you preorder the game in Japan beginning March 1, you get the Deluxe Box, which comes with the game, a Mother 3 Micro (http://cache.kotaku.com/gaming/mothergameboymicro.jpg)), and a Franklin Badge.
The Deluxe box runs for 18,000 yen or $165.
No word on it coming to the US, though. Why must they taunt us so?

RE: The Davinchi Code
Jean Reno is going to be in it. That's a reason to see it.
Though why Tom Hanks? Dan Brown describe Robert as "Harrison Ford in Tweed" so Ford would be the most obvious choice.

RE: Does it make you mad/sad when people on other forums steal your username?
I've had a couple of people share the same username as me. All of them are pathetic.
Like the one guy who looks like a reject from The Crow movies calling himself "Zio the Pimp", which is just wrong.
I also found out that "Zio" gets alot of useage over in Italy, so there's that to think about.
(FYI: I pronounce it like how you would pronounce "Dio".)

Bah. Those kind of tricks are lame. I read the replies on the maze before I tried it, so that probably caused my emotionless reaction towards when the event triggers.

Now if you will excuse me, I'm off to find a way to travel back in time and make samuraizero's dad sterile.

RE: Cast for Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts 2 Announced
I don't know Crispin Freeman as Rude seems like a waist of talent. I mean Rude hardly ever talks.
Well, Rude is a badass. Who else can do badasses better than the guy who voice acted the role of the badass freakin' overlord Zetta from Makai Kingdom? (Well aside from Micheal McConnohie, who plays badass characters like Tao Pai Pai, Schwartzvald, INVINCIBLE CAPTAIN GORDON, etc.)
Though most of the time, Rude just coughs so..it's kind of moot now.
-
RE: Cast for Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts 2 Announced
Blah. Liam O' Brian as Red XIII and Crispin Freeman as Rude sounds interesting. And there's always room for DOOKU!
Edit: Wally Wingert as Rufus? What the hell?

RE: Dear Good People:
For the record: I understand that you have been fucked by those guys, Stephen. But I am not going to allow you to borrow members from our forum to assualt another forum. And I am sure that saying "Hey fuckers, stop stealing my stuff" is not going to make them drop everything and obey you. You should have just sent them an email saying "Hey, when you read my transcripts, you agreed that you were not going to use them for scanlations. You violated that agreement and if you don't stop using my stuff for your scanlations, I will get rid of them and no one will have them. Doesn't matter if you give credit when you took them, you still can't use them for scanlations."

RE: A question for mods (not sure where to post this but …)
@Solar:
Ah, it's what makes this place all-american, the baseball rule. Never mind the fact that the place is about a japanese comic, or there being so many foreign members. Those are just small details.
Tsk, tsk. I said that I use that method, I am not the sole person banning people and I do have to make some kind of report about a troublemaker and their infractions to the others so they know about the potential banning and comment on it.
Well, not really a report, just a post in the right place saying "Hey, this guy is doing <insert major="" violations="" of="" rules="" here="">. Can we ban them yet."
Also, Japan plays baseball too. They just don't have a World Series like we do.</insert>
-
RE: A question for mods (not sure where to post this but …)
@HTC:
That way i thought it up, there would be no permanent bans: only temporary ones. But after like screw-up nº 10, 9 days unable to post … that would be a deterrent (spelling??), wouldn't you say?
That's a nice thought, but some view being temp banned as not as a learning method, but motivation to seek revenge. The second the temp ban goes, they either keep doing what they do or perform even worse acts. That's when the permanant ban is needed.
Sometimes, it's just better to cut to the chase and ban them for good after several warnings.

RE: It's the end of music as we know it
One Piece was "desinged" for kids, look how good that turned out.:ninja:
EDIT: Oh, and I think that on one of the Kidz Bop CDs, they actually have a Linkin Park track, picture that as you will.
First off, it's spelt "designed".
Secondly, bringing in One Piece being dubbed is a low way of trying to win an argument here. We all know that kids in Japan are different in the US, not to mention One Piece is enjoyed by all. It's not the same as songs like Feel Good, Inc. being sung by a bunch of kids for a compliation album target solely for kids and nothing more.
I should throw in a mention that despite the albums being marketed as "sanitized" for children, some of them still have explicit lyrics, or having the context of the song's profanity remain. Just throwing that out there.
Thirdly, the main point I was trying to get across is: Why should you care? You have the original song, yes? Then who gives a shit if Kidz Bop puts it on their album? I don't. Just like I don't give a shit about Wutai Warriors in another topic or about Krypto the Superdog when a grown up fool bitches about it sucking. It's not intended for me, I am missing out on nothing, and if it's a dub/remake/etc. of something I like in it's original form, I still have that original source, be it anime/manga episodes, an album, or a book. Ergo, I don't give a shit.
So yeah, making that kind of genre out of stolen goods is pretty crappy.
I assume that means that you think Kidz Bop stole Feel Good, Inc. from the Gorillaz. Use your brain before you type, these are not pasty faced nerds who downloaded the song illegally on the internet. These are businessmen, trying to make a profit without losing alot of money getting their asses sued. They asked for the rights before they put the song in their album.
-
RE: A question for mods (not sure where to post this but …)
Feh. Never really cared for that old warning system. I just kept track of other people's infractions in my head, using a "Three strikes and you're fucked" ruling.
I don't think any of the banned people got up to 10, I think the most was in between 5 and 7.

RE: Worst Moments In Gaming
Speaking of PSO, one of the worst moments in video gaming was when I was playing with a party in one level with my level 37 RAmar. One of the party members was one of those level 5 NOL characters that looks like the NPC with the same name.
I believe the thing that happened to us was called being "NOLed" where our character profiles were replaced with NOL's template and stats. Pissed me off because my character needed to learn one more spell and he would have learned all of the spells in the game. After that, the interest in the game started to decline.

As you can plainly see, they are working together to make a new property targeted completely for Kids, not doing what your paranoic ramblings theorize. Only a foolish fool from a land of fools could think something so foolishly foolish.
In the land of the internet, evidence is everything.

RE: Worst Moments In Gaming
@Cap'n:
Yeah but we'd have a bunch of mediocre titles like Kameo, that can't even be released properly (delay-o-rama).
Not to mention Grabbed by the Ghoulies. I think that all of the fame and the money it took to buy Rare went to their heads, making all of these subpar games and saying "We're Rare! We are legendary! They will buy our stuff!"
Sad.

RE: Phantasy Star Universe
Wait…Gruhal Solar System? I was promised visits to the planets in the Algo system, inlcuding Motivata, the planet where most of the characters in Phantasy Star IV are from. Awww man...
I wonder if the vehicles will be like the Land Rover, Ice Digger, and Hydrofoil in PSIV. I liked those.
But anyway, I did enjoy PSO the first time, but re-releases with nothing really new and Episode III's card battles turned me off. I hope PSU will be good.
And I am STILL waiting for my PSIV port or remake.
