I think he probably meant it in the sense that he doesn't want to be remembered for ONLY One Piece. Rather, that he'd want to be remembered for One Piece and several other things. It's a sentiment I can understand, actually. Who wants to be remembered for only one thing that they've done early in their lives/career and have everything afterwards be overlooked?
