Went to the Funimation panel, and sorry to say it was mostly borrrring and mostly uninformative. The guy running the laptop was fairly articulate, kept things moving and actually had answers if asked, but the other dude just rambled on and on in a mumbling monotone that was practically impossible to understand. :P
About the only interesting announcement was they got the rights to Ouran High School Host Club, which I adore with all my little fangirly heart.
One Piece was barely mentioned and only during the Q&A session.
On a brighter note, I got Sonny Strait to sign my 'Lupin the 3rd' box set, my DBZ World's Strongest DVD, and my One Piece manga #1. Did you know he did his own manga 'We Shadows'? I tried to score a copy but no go today, I'm going to try again tomorrow. He did do the 'Captain Usoooopp!' voice for me which was really darn funny.
Sean Schemmel signed my BDZ DVD and my One Piece manga (literally- signed his name and 'Goku' and 'Hatchi' underneath, too cute!) and sheepishly admitted he thought he'd done a pretty crappy job on the 4Kids dub.
Odd bit of trivia- both of them were wearing hats. Sonny a black and white porkpie hat and Sean a black felt Zorro-style hat. I took pics but remembered thinking, hats? In southern California? Indoors? Am I missing something…? Or was it a fashion statement? Or maybe a dual bad hair day?
No luck finding Thorn: Tales of the Lantern. So far only one booth has had a copy and when I asked the booth guy said it wasn't for sale- it was a display piece, signed by Jeff Smith a few years back. Sorry…
