Well, I used to be very enthusiastic about starting my own comic, but I'm starting to think it's more of a crazy dream now. I just can't get it out of my head though, so I may eventually go through with it…
Anyway, the first series I began planning was called "Blue Collar Redneck" which was a story about a couple from the country who move to a large futuristic city where they must find jobs and become accustomed to new technologies and the many different kinds of people present. I think it's meant to be primarily a comedy but may have some dramatic elements. I made a pilot chapter sort of thing that was twenty pages long and let my little sister read it but she said it was boring which was pretty discouraging because if i ever make a comic, I want it to be popular with children...
So the plot: The main character, Essho, ends up saving the president of a major tech company from a malfunctioning traffic robot and lands a job as a security officer in return. But it turns out to be a tough job because a criminal organization set on taking over the company is constantly sending out agents with various abilities to take control by persuasion or by force. The agents usually have animal related code names (Horny Devil, Cunningham, etc.) and their skills and physical characteristics are usually related to that animal. Essho and his fellow security officer, Boris, must either fight them or outsmart them to protect their company and their jobs. Does that sound boring? Probably...
Characters:
Essho- A mild mannered 17 year-old from a small village. He is a hard worker and does his best to keep his friends out of trouble. More physically powerful than most city dwellers, he does well in a fight, but he has a hard time understanding more complicated situations.
Lentil- Essho's wife who is probably even tougher than him and makes most of the decisions. She is generally cheerful, curious, and a quick learner allowing her to adapt well to city life. She is also overly compassionate and will often take in injured animals or broken robots against Essho's wishes.
Boris- Essho's best friend and fellow security officer (age 21) who never got a college education and therefore enjoys having Essho around to show off even his limited knowledge. He is rather materialistic and is taken in easily by new and dangerous trends that Essho must often rescue him from.
Sarape- A prototype for an alarm clock that transforms into a small, child sized robot created by the company that Essho and Boris work for. It was assembled in a foreign country and occasionally speaks random Spanish. After Essho rescues "him" from being stolen and destroyed, Sarape considers him his father and follows him around, protecting him in his time of need. Essho refuses to accept him as his son though....
and that's enough for the main cast...
So here's a picture I made a while back featuring characters from both the series I've thought of so far : http://announcerguy.deviantart.com/art/Original-Characters-36310661
the ones to the right are from BCRN and the ones on the left are from my other series NikOK, which I don't feel like talking about right now, phew!
